OSX 10.9 - bad performance in dock area

high there, may someone of you confirm that? since OSX 10.9 had been released, I got problems with all kinds of Braille displays that are connected ether via Bluetooth or via USB connection to both of my mac machines. During the regular sessions, the connected braille display reacts fast and without any performance delay. As soon as I chose any app using the dock, the Braille display suddenly change to a incredible mad duck. Often it takes nearly 2 or 3 seconds until a character that was entered is shown on the display. You may imagine that such large delay times aren't really amusing. Regular, I use a Braille display by FreedomScientific. Unfortunately the bug described above occurs with several displays of other manufacturers I've tested for the last four weeks. Do you got any idea how to solve that problem? Cheers Martin

Martin, Unfortunately, I can't confirm this one. The only Braille display I have to test with is a Hims Braille Edge, and that works as I'd expect. Does it matter which program you are trying to run? Best, Zack.

Zack, its always the dock and it happened no matter which Braille Display is connected. I'm sure it occurs since Mavericks came up and it further occurs on my iMac and my MBA. Martin

Hi Martin. Though I haven't tested this, I have a Focus 40 blue, the first generation. Is there a possibility that the firmware isn't updated? I understand you said this happens with more then one display, from differing manufacturers, but I know freedom is very tight lipped when they release one. In fact I thought i was using the latest firmware until someone found it. Just a thought. Hope that helps. Siobhan

Siobhan, I only use one Braille display at a time. The Bug I've described occurs, no matter which display or which manufacturer. So it seems no matter of the display's firmware. Martin

Have you emailed apple accessibility? [email protected] with the issue? I can't as I don't have a braille display, how ever if you have a free dev account you can go to the apple bug reporter and report this bug. They will have you submit logs but they are straight forward in their instructions.

Marrie, I've dropped a Mail to Apple accessibility support yesterday. Free Dev account? What does that mean? Am I legalized to make reports concerning bugs directly to apple's development department? Sorry 'bout that stupid question; I didn't heard about this anytime before. Martin
