Description of App

From Stairways Software Pty Ltd: Whether you are a power user or a grandparent (or both!), your time is precious. So why waste it when Keyboard Maestro can help improve almost every aspect of using your Mac. Even the simplest things, like typing your email address, or going to Gmail or Facebook, launching Pages, or duplicating a line, all take time and add frustration. Accessibility Comments

This app's interface is fully accessible. All controls, scroll areas, etc. are labeled.

Usability

The app is fully accessible with VoiceOver and is easy to navigate and use.

Other Comments

This app is fully accessible; however, the developer has some work to do with included switcher group items. These areas will be addressed over time, but do not affect your ability to develop macros. I want to thank the developer, Peter Lewis, because he put a great deal of effort and time in making Keyboard Maestro accessible. Peter was very easy to work with and did an incredible job. You can make a difference when you approach a developer and working with Peter is proof of that.

i'm wondering why's the difference between this and text expander if both do the same thing? Love the name of the software though. it's catchy. sounds like it should have been for music. lol!

Much, much more than Text Expander

The combinations of actions and triggers that Keyboard Maestro offers makes it very different to Text Expander. The only real limitation to what it can offer in terms of automation and hotkeys is your imagination. Okay, that might be overstating it a little (smiles), but if you want to be productive with your Mac, this becoming accessible is excellent news!

Hmm. sounds a bit like t= the combination of text expander and launch bar, both of which are very very good pieces of software. I might give this a try one day when 'm not busy trying to graduate. lol!

Switching Between Apps While Keyboard Maestro Engine is Running

By Chelsea

Hi, I am running the demo version of Keyboard Maestro and am wondering if anyone has experienced this. When pressing command tab to switch between any applications, VoiceOver just says something like, "Keyboard Maestro, system dialog, keyboard maestro" and won't actually speak the name of the application you are about to switch to, nor any subsequent applications. I like command tab for quickly working with two applications, but this is slightly annoying. Has anyone found a workaround? I've looked through the preferences and can't find anything. Without the Keyboard Maestro engine running, you cannot execute macros from other applications. Any help would be awesome, as I'm starting to really like this app.

I believe I had that problem when I ran it. I could not find a work around so I uninstalled the app.

Thanks, Mary!

So I'm not crazy! I've contacted the developer to alert him to this issue. I'll post a response/workaround when I get one.

Response from Developer About Switching Aplications

Hi,

I did hear back from Peter Lewis, the developer of Keyboard Maestro. In regards to VoiceOver's behavior when switching applications, he says:

"Keyboard Maestro replaces the system application switcher. I'm not sure how good or bad Keyboard Maestro's switcher is for VoiceOver - its not something I've looked at yet )I haven't really looked at any of the palettes and switchers for VoiceOver issues yet).

You can disable Keyboard Maestro's application switcher by disabling the matching macro in the Switcher Group in Keyboard Maestro if you prefer the system switcher."

This has solved the problem for me and I am now happy macro-ing again!
