I am trying to support a blind person who I am working with, he has a ip4s. Can I make voiceover read the whole sreen from top to bottom in one go or does he have to run his finger down the screen? Cheers
I would recommend that he download an app called Looktel Voiceover Getting Started. You can find more information about it here. http://www.applevis.com/apps/ios/reference/looktel-voiceover-tutorial
Also, if you swipe down with two fingers, Voiceover will read from the point on the screen where the cursor is to the bottom of the screen or document.
You should let him know about Apple vis so that he can post his own questions to be answered. There are many resources that this sight provides, especially for new users, I believe there is even a special section for them.
A 2 finger swipe down on the screen will read everything on the page from the current location of the VoiceOver cursor.
So, if you want to hear everything which is on the page, you need to first be sure that the VoiceOver cursor (also commonly referred to as the VoiceOver focus) is on the first item on the page. As this is usually in the top left corner of the screen, you could locate it by touching on that area with your finger. Swiping left across the screen with 1 finger will move you to the previous item if there is one, or you will simply hear a tone that tells you there is nothing to the left.
However, an easy way to move the VoiceOver cursor to either the first or last item on the page is a single tap with 4 fingers. Doing this on the top half of the screen will move the cursor to the first item. Do it on the bottom half, and the cursor is moved to the last item on the page.
One thing to remember, is that the status bar along the top of the screen (where such things as the time and cellular connection are displayed) can only be accessed by locating it directly with your finger. The actions mentioned above will not read anything from the status bar or move the cursor there.
