Hi all,
I came here to bring some exciting news: I will be receiving the Zoom IQ5 stereo microphone for my iPhone/iPad! i'm super excited! I ordered the mic from sweetwater.com, and it will arrive this week. I will let you know how things goe as soon as I receive it. I remembered on the apple vis podcast, drew gave a demonstration of the Tascam IM2, which pplugs directly into the iPhone/iPad using the 30-pin connecter for older devices. but, however, the zoom IQ5 plugs directly into the iPhone/iPad using the lightning connecter for current devices. and it has an earphone jak for monitoring the mix, as well as a mini USB port for charging your device while recording a podcast. this Mmic works amazingly well with the camera app too! Zoom also has it's own app called the Handy Recorder app, which works with the mic itself. It's a free app which can be downloaded from the app store. as stated before, I will be receiving it this week, and will let you know how it goes after I've tested it.

i will get this mic tomorrow. Any tips on setting it up? Also, which apps can I use? Can audioboo record in stereo? I'd like an app where I can record when the phone starts, or do some gesture to start recording, then transfer the file to audioboo

Hi all,
For those of you who have an otter box case for iPhone or iPod and have trouble connecting the zoom iq5 to the iPhone with the case on, this might resolve your problem! their is a cable adaptor that fits all cases and it's made by a company called CableJive out of Boston, Ma. here's the link from amazon:

Where is the recent update to this thread?
The main applevis page shows thiis topic updated juust a while ago but the most recent comment was 2015. I wrote all this before i saw that.
I have a zoom IQ5. I am actually quite disappointed in the unit and the software.
The main problem with the software is that I can not adjust the System playback volume using the controls on the iPhone. We have to use the app to change that volume level .That particular control is not visible to voiceover. The app is mostly accessible but that control and another for adjusting stereo spread is not.
Physically the microphone performs very well and it has onboard controls which allow you to do just about everything you need except adjusting the system volume. However the downside of this microphone is it's plugged directly into your iPhone and so tapping anywhere on your phone is picked up by the microphones.
I would much prefer to have a connecter cable separating the microphone from the body of my iPhone. But that would be less convenient because it would be something else to hold.
Hope you have better luck than I did. If you get along with it or not please post and let us know.
