Problems labeling a contact.

Hi all. I noticed that my friend's number, who i'm positive is an iPhone, is mobile, when I tap on their number. I went into their contact, but it says "mobile dimmed button." I don't kno why this is, except that i might've somehow messed up when they changed the number form a true mobile, to an iPhone. I can't undim the button, but when I click, it says iMessage. Has anyone seen this, and short of destroying the contact and recreating which I'd rather not, is there any advice? Thanks.

Have you tried going to the contact you want to edit.
Then choose edit.
After that choose the mobile button.
Then choose iPhone.
Then choose done.

Once again, Isaac, you ask a question I've clearly stated in my post. I can not, go to mobile, and switch it as the button is dimmed. I appreciate the answer, but please, next time, make sure you've read it thoroughly before responding.

I'm pretty sure it has to do with linked contacts. I'll figure it out on my own. thank you.

If the mobile button is grade out or not available you might have to wait until the person contacts you.

Have you tried turning VoiceOver off and back on? If that doesn't work, hard resetting the device by holding the power and home buttons at the same time for 15 seconds usually fixes those types of issues. I had a similar issue a while back and a hard reset fixed the problem.
