Hi all,
I have just updated Safary to 7.1, and I have noticed something curious... Now, when I press arrow keys inside a web page, it seems I can read text (and select text, pressing shift plus arrows), sometimes it is not.... consistent, I mean, it's not exactly the same as you may expect reading the page by classic voiceover commands...
Have you noticed it? Do you know how to use it properly? or it's just something weir that happens due some minor change in safary that was not intended to act this way.
Anyways, it makes text selecting easier for me in some situations.... try it and comment your impresions.
Best regards.

For a while I have been able to do this.
I'm not sure how long this has worked, but I have been able to do it for a while. The trick is its a little hard to figure out how it works at first. Make sure quick nav is off and then hit shift right arrow. This will highlight the first letter of the text. After you do that you are in a kind of reading mode. You can pretty much navigate like you would in a text editor. hit down arrow to read by line, right arrow to read by character, option right arrow to read by word and yes you can also select text. Its a very useful thing to know and many do not know it.
Yes, this is actually a new feature
I think this is probably a glimpse into what's to come in the future versions of OSX. An ability to use arrow keys on webpages is certainly a great enhancement!
