The unlabelled buttons in the list view of stations are used to select which stream you want when the station has more than one.

As VoiceOver gives you no feedback on what the choices are, this is very much a lucky dip.

The developer has been contacted, so hopefully this will be addressed in a future update.

TuneIn Radio is the radio app I eventually chose after trying several others.

IHeart Radio: despite what it says hear in the forum, which may be old information, I found IHeart Radio to be mostly inaccessable with many buttons unlabeled for VO, it was on my iPod less than five minutes. I believe it was about a month or so ago that I tried it.

Radium: I tried this about two or three days agao. I don't recall what problems I had with it, but it too lasted less than five minutes on my iPod.

5-0 Radio: This app seemed pretty good until the first ad came along that required I dismiss it to continue using the app. I don't mind ad supported software, but only if the ads don't get in the way of using the app.
ooTune: I'd heard a lot of good about ooTune, but decided against it because there was no free version to try out first.

TuneIn: It took a little tinkering, but in about 15 minutes I had TuneIn pretty much figured out and will probably buy the Pro version to get rid of the ads, the radio stations have their own ads, I don't need another layer of ads on top of those.

I could have easily done without the social media connections since I don't use any social media at all, but at least those aren't forced on me, it's easy enough to just ignore the button. When I started following a station, it asked if I wanted to share it, they were nice enough to provide a "Don't ask me again" option.

One thing I wish they would do, though it's minor, move the "Add to Favorites" button up a screen, then have it follow the station and it add to your favorites when tapped. That would eliminate the two step process of following a station, and adding it to your favorites. If all you want to do is follow a station, you can use the "Follow" button.

The only problem I encountered with TuneIn was lagginess and pauses in VO, but I suspect that's an IOS 8 problem since I encounter the same problems with other apps.

If your biggest love is the radio portion, you should give Shoutcast a try. It's free, and the number of radio stations available is vast!!! Sometimes, when you start a station, an ad might pop up, but tapping the screen twice with two fingers like you would to start or stop music will skip the ad. Just a thought.

One more thought: the radio database in the new Victor Reader stream uses the ooTunes database.

Shoutcast is great, and so is Tunein for sporting events, but ooTunes is the one radio app that I keep going back to. In fact, it is the first app I ever bought when I first got my iPhone. While it is not updated much, if at all, on the front end, the database of stations is, in my opinion, second to none.

Oh definitely shell out a few bucks and buy yourself oo tunes. You will be extremely glad you did. The app is 100% accessible, and the developer is very approachable through email if you have any questions or want stations to be added. Go for it you won't be sorry.

I don't understand why the mute button mutes "all" sounds. The developer should be able to make the Mute button silence only the audio coming out of the TuneIn Radio app and not the speech coming from VoiceOver (as other apps do).

also, I wonder how atune to accessibility the TuneIn Radio developers really are. The ability for VoiceOver users to be able to set alarms has not been accessible for a very long time through numerous version releases. Folks have commented on this accessibility issue for a long time, yet it hasn't been resolved.

too bad, because overall, the app is very good and otherwise fairly useable.

I wanted to try ShoutCast, but when I tried to search for it in the app store, I got hundreds of hits and it seemed to list everything but ShoutCast. It may have been in there, but I was unwilling to try and find it in such a long list.

Sometimes I think that Apple needs a good nuking to shake the cobwebs out of their heads and maybe put some common sense into them instead.

For what it's worth, the reason I couldn't find ShoutCast is because, according to iTunes, it is no longer available in the US app store.

Oh well, for now I think I'll stick with TuneIn until it gives me a reason to go to something else, or if something else convinces me it's better and worth paying for.

Yeah, I can be cheap at times! ;-)

You may not like what's happening to IE or any other particular browser, for that matter. But if you want the best access, you're going to have to upgrade because, wonder of wonders, the web world consists both of you and of web developers. I know many site -- particularly in the business world -- that no longer support IE 8 and below.

Soin the end, it's your choice: miss out on content or upgrade and put up with thefrustrations.

Sorry, since the TuenIn web site is or can be part of using the TuneIn Radio app, I thought a question about a problem using the web site was appropriate here.

I suspected the problem was my older browser, but wanted verify that by asking if anyone else was seeing the same thing.

I haven't looked at the site recently but I haven't had any problems with it.

My biggest complaint with this app for now are the number of stations that are listed but are not streaming. This is especially true for countries outside the U.S. For example, I could not get any of the stations in the Phillipeens to play on this app.

Thought it was region specific? Not sure. If it is that might be why.

This app is listed in the Applevis directory as being "fully accessible with Voiceover and is easy to navigate and use." However, last time I tried to use this app, I found it anything but when it comes to selecting channels. Have they released recent updates making it more user friendly? Thanks for any feedback.

The app just coppies the website as far as stations go. I get your point, but I think it's because you can actually stream clearchannel stations on the computer from tunein just not on the Iphone. It's not perfect but once you learn what stations are clear channel you can figure things out pretty easy.

I do agree. I love the functions it allows. One of my most used apps. I love that trending option.

I quit using tune in as I don't even listen to music anymore and I mean no music anymore. That might or might not change if I ever get board, but yeah.There's no vallue in radio anymore as far as I can sede.

Several of the stations I've been following are no longer available with Tunein so they've recommended others, some of which I don't like. When I go to Edit My Profile, I can't find a way to delete stations listed. Is this an accessibility issue, or am I just doing something wrong? It seems to me I was able to do this before. I haven't listened in a while, so maybe I've just forgotten what to do!

In the latest update to the Tunein interface, I now see no way to share a station you’re listening to? Anyone else. If it’s still there, how do I access it?

OK, so, it appears that the Share option has re-appeared. However, half the time, with VoiceOver, I can’t access it. Any work-arounds/ways to do this?
