Hi all. I'm using a logitech headset now which is asking to be buried in the headset graveyard. I don't know what i do to them, but I swear they last me a year, perhaps two. Given that, I don't want ot spend three hundred dollars to ask this question in two or three months years. I see a ton of great headsets the problem ismost of them use drivers for windows to install surround sound and the like, but the Mac doesn't do that if I'm right. I've heard senheizer is good, skull candy and others. My requirements are few, volume and mute controls on the headset, preferably the can itself, so I don't hit Mute accidentally, light weight, last one i bought pushed so hard on my jaw I had to gie it to my brother. I think I need a USB one since I have one audio jack and that's it. If anyone has any suggestions please pass them over. I want bass, I want great surround sound if I can get it, good for listening to music, games, boks, and skyping once in awhile. If anyone has a headset you needed drivers for, would you give me detailed steps to show me how to install them? thanks.

Logitech eight 540
Hello, I had a Logitech H5 40 and it is as a USB headset that is plugged to that USB slot on the Mac. No drivers are required. I like it is great for Skype and FaceTime audio calls and listening to music I hope this helps, and if you have any questions feel free to ask.
Thank you joseph
Hi. It's so much I need driver, I know they usually don't need any, but we're suffering without having great sourround sound effects like 7.1 channel sound. I know windows users can install things to get that to work, so if i needed to do that I would. I'll look at the five forty thanks. Does it have volume contols on the earpiece? I used one with a huge mute button onthe cord and I was forever hitting it and not kowing it. For anyone else who read this, over the head is preferable to behind the neck design that just didn't fit well with me.

Yes it has a fine control. It has to buttons on the top what's can. I am, and then a round button on the bottom that controls the mute switch. These buttons are on the right to your phone. Then on the right side you have your microphone this microphone is able to go down so you can adjust it to your liking. I hope this helps.
