I use Siri a lot, and I use voice over 24/7. I have noticed that in IOS 8, and 8.1 a lot of the time Siri gets chopped off, meaning it just stops saying what it wants to say. My friend Flint has traced it to a voice over issue. He is able to turn off voice over, and Siri works just like it should. He turns on voice over, and he said once the VO curser highlights someing wair siri is talking, that is what causes Siri to stop talking.
Having recently got a i phone i find siri not that reactive all the time. Often miss's what i say if i'm outside in a high street or busy town space. Maybe it still has to learn my voice i'm not sure. Having only used 8.1 i cant comment on how it was before though sorry.
One doesn't have to turn VoiceOver completely off. Just silence VO speech using the three-finger-double-tap toggle before engaging Siri. After you've interacted with Siri and want to interact with the screen using VO again, just invoke the VO speech toggle again. I use this even on iOS 7.1.2.
I think this has been brought up in other threads, but I'm happy to share my thoughts again. It seems that there are conflicts between VO and siri; Siri is more often than not cut off and you need to use VO to read things. I hope that this gets fixed, but until then, although it's far from ideal, I simply turn off VO if I want to have a guaranteed productive conversation with Siri. This problem was present under IOS 7, but it wasn't nearly ast constant as it is now. I hope this helps.
Hi! I never tried just toggling speech. If I need to use siri without incident, I do triple click home to disable VO altogether. Sadly, this means I can't use siri for anything involving dictation since the text isn't read back, which is why it's not an ideal solution by any means, but if VO isn't running, I've never had Siri cut off.
I've lost my main typing feature fleksy. It seems like they are not interested in making it accessible anymore. Secondly, Siri is breaking quiet often like a sick lady about to die. I'm typing by tap tapping one by one. it's really frustrating. Thirdly, when the phone is locked, the notification is not working with my 5s and also with 4s. it's just ding once, telling the time and going off. Bloody apple and their stupid bugs, I say.
Flexy won't go away from accessibility. I think Flexy VO is still available. However, back to siri. I've noticed as others have said that is is chopped off. What I do is turn off VO, then once I'm done, turn VO back on again. A problem I have with the alex voice, and I don't know if others are having this issue, is when I turn VO back on again, the speech doesn't always come back. so what i have to do is tell siri to turn vo off and back on again, and this fixes the problem right quick.

Just Silence Speech

speach toggle doesn't work
I am finding speech toggle doesn't work as people have mentioned.
speech toggle?
