I know someone who is having a very odd problem using his Zagg wireless keyboard with iOS 8.1.1. The keyboard will only type when he has VoiceOver turned off. He cannot type at all with VO running. I know the original iOS 8 was really buggy when it came to wireless keyboards, but I thought Apple dealt with that in the latest update. I'm writing this post on my iPhone with a keyboard, and things seem much more stable now than before. Is anyone else still experiencing this issue after updating?

Does he have quickNav OFF
Does he have quickNav OFF when he types?
quick nav?
Has he tried turning quick nav off before typing something? You have to do that using iOS 8. For example inan edit field, you need to turn quick nav off, type your thing and turn it back on again. Hope that helps.
Try Turning Off Quick Nav
Hello Justin,
The first thing I would try is to turn off Quick Nav before typing in an edit field. To do this, press the left and right arrow keys together.

still iffie.
I find even under 8.1.1, my apple keyboard will at random do the double character bit, and I have to reboot the phone to try and get rid of that bug. There have been times when starting out with using dictation might cause the double character bug to show up after, like it did when working with Blindsquare yesterday, and dictation didn't even want to work, but rather, it turned the speech off when doing magic tap.
I'm not sure if maybe turning quicknav on once keyboard is turned on, would cause the double character business to start up or not. I know it's going to happen, especially when about to enter my apple ID password, and the arrow keys decide to jump pass the password field. Little things like inadvertently toggling quicknav should not cause the bug to arise to where I need to reboot the phone. I'm using a 4 s.
keyboard/Voice over/8.2
Turning off Quick Nav worked! Thank you so much
Regarding double characters
If you encounter double characters while typing, turn VoiceOver off and back on, and the problem should go away. What's happening is that both VoiceOver and the regular system are responding to the keystrokes at the same time, causing the double entry of characters. I've only had it happen three or four times since upgrading to iOS 8, and toggling VO off and back on solved the issue each time.
Oh, and make sure to report the issue to Apple Accessibility, if you haven't already.
I don't think this is actually a bug, it's a feature
If you really stop and think about it for a second this feature actually makes sense. You're not navigating, so if you want to type something into an edit field, you would turn quick nav off. and when you're done you turn it back on again to continue navigating. This is exactly like turning forms mode off and on in jaws. People have been doing this for many years with no ill-effects. Same thing applies here. I'm ok with it once I got the hang of it.
