Hmm, seems like it sour work, but why right to left. would not the normally swipe and confirm work, that is left to right? I'll have to play with it when I'm not so busy. lol!

Tc all.

Still appears to be very accessible and easy to use. I do like the NEW Group section. Now creating Groups will be a very simple task to make.

What's New in Version 4.2

- Groups: Now you can create groups for the people you message most. Name them, set group photos and keep them all in one place
- Forwarding: Want to send a message or photo to someone who isn't in the conversation? Just tap to forward it
- Plus, continued improvements to make the app faster and more reliable

Free Calls: Talk as long as you want and stay in touch wherever you are. (Calls are free over Wi-Fi. Otherwise, standard data charges apply.

Hey, I've figured out how to delete one message at a time in this app but does anyone know if there is any way to delete a whole conversation at once? Thanks

Thre was a repy to yoru question actually some headings back. It involves a swipe and confirm but that is tricky as they broke something, again. I'll do some testing when I have the time but as of now I kind of don't. lol!

What's New in Version 5.0

More ways to message: Everything's front and center, so it's easier to send photos, voice messages and more.

Video: Send videos from your phone's camera roll and when people send you videos, play them right in the app.

Instant photo sharing: Take a photo and send it in just one tap, without leaving the conversation.

Shortcuts to stickers: When someone sends you a sticker, press and hold down on it to get the pack.

Improved search: Enter the names of people and groups to find them quickly.

Other fixes, including to stickers and groups.

Still is not posible to delete conversations with VoiceOver. Also, archiving them is not as easy as it should be, you need to double tap and hold, then swipe left and then double tap for the options to appear. I think the swipe up or down should be implemented with VO, as in other apps.

Hi there,
The swipe up feature was in Messenger, and, as far as I know, is still on the Facebook app, I could be wrong though.
Archiving the messages is as close to deleting them as we can get.
I have submitted feedback to Facebook regarding these issues, but have not heard back, and probably will not hear back.

Hello to all. The facebook accessibility team is really awesome. :) I bet you this problem will be fixed.

By Kyle Smith on Sunday, August 3, 2014 - 23:40

When double tapping a message that contains audio, it brings up the forward dialog box. Is there something I'm doing wrong? I figured double tapping the audio message would play the message. I am using version 8.0 of the Messenger app

Hello,
I'm also unable to play audio messages. I haven't heard anything from Facebook regarding this issue, but has anyone figured out a work around?

Here is the amil I got from the facebook accessibility team "Hi Kyle,

Thanks for your email. We're already investigating this issue and we hope to fix in the next release.

Thanks,

Cesar

Marrie,

I've received e-mails from this very same support representative regarding an issue I'm having relating to access on a different platform. I honestly do think they are trying to fix the issue, as he followed up with me even weeks after I submitted a bug just to say that the issue was still being worked on. So, I honestly do think the response is sincere.

By KE7ZUM on Sunday, August 3, 2014 - 23:40

Tha'ts good. Well let's hope they fix the one I reported to them on twitter, which I've now forgotten by now. I did report an issue a week ago but might send it again in case it got lost in the gazillions of emails they receive.

Take care. and be blessed.

Two new updates have been released. Maybe the audio messages issue has been solved. I don't use audio messages, and I don't know of people who use them so I can't tell.

By blindgator on Sunday, August 3, 2014 - 23:40

Well I thought the geniuses at Facebook accessibility broke accessibility once again, but it looks like they didn't. The first time you run the latest update to Facebook messenger it might take a while to load, and then get ready for this all your past messages will be gone. It used to be when you updated this app all of your previous messages were right there, but for some reason this update completely wiped out my message history as according to the app I have no messages. The app when on the recent tab takes awhile to load and then it says you don't have any messages yet. This annoys me as I used to just go to the messages to message people I message frequently but I get Facebook couldn't leave well enough alone, will have to check the Facebook app to see if my messages are still in it but for some reason when using the native Facebook app and using messenger I have yet to figure out a way to get out of Messenger and back in to other parts of the app. Good old Facebook. always improving their apps except for those of us using VoiceOVer

By Linda on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 - 23:40

I read the instructions to archive messages and conversations. However, archiving just temporarily hides the message from the inbox until another message comes in from the recipient. Deleting a message removes it permanently from the inbox history. As for me, I need permanent removal of messages to keep my iPhone from filling up completely.

I have deleted a few messages, but have not developed a technique that works consistently. Also, I haven't figured out how to delete a conversation. Any suggestions?

By Daniel on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 - 23:40

Hi all, can anyone confirm the following. When you enter a conversation with someone that going back doesn't appear possible. The only way, is to quit the app and open it again from the home screen.

The back button appears to have gone. At least, for me and the two finger scrub to also go back also doesn't work. Hence, the work around I described above using the app switcher.
This is with the latest update of the messenger app, V10.0

By Isaac Hebert (not verified) on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 - 23:40

I am not noticing this.
I am able to go back out of a conversation just fine.

By sockhopsinger on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 - 23:40

Don't know if it will work, but I guess it's worth a try. I have not had this problem.

By Daniel on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 - 23:40

Hi guys, I've now managed to sort it out and it turned out to be an error on my part. I do now, see a back button and the two finger scrub does work as expected. So sorry for saying it was broken and then playing with it a bit more, I was able to see and do what's been possible with older versions in this new release as well.

By jukesy1992 on Monday, November 3, 2014 - 23:40

Can anyone clarify if they have fixed the audio messages issue? I'm interested in trying this feature.

By Lisa on Saturday, January 3, 2015 - 23:40

Hello everyone,
I was trying to send a voice/audio message to someone in the facebook messenger app on my iPhone 6. The person didn't receive my audio message, and I can't figure out how to do it. Is this possible to do with Voice Over? Thank you.

By Darren12 on Monday, August 3, 2015 - 23:40

Generally, I find the fb app sluggish and very frequently will stutter appallingly with Vo. Also, I've been having quite the difficult time locating the send button in the messenger app, though I don't use it at all often.

By Devin Prater on Monday, August 3, 2015 - 23:40

I still don't know why messenger docsn't automatically read incoming messages, like hangouts, messages and plenty of other messaging apps do.

By KE7ZUM on Monday, August 3, 2015 - 23:40

In reply to by Darren12

No issues here. the app is very stable. The send button is right above the p key. If you want to record an audio file that's easy to. all you do is tap the audio or voice button, I can't remember which it is, then hold the record button. You have up to 3 minutes. then just lift. You will hear what sounds like a quiet zipper going off. and the message is sent.

It will if you enable notifications. i have them turned off as I get a lot of messages and don't have the time to deal with them.

By Siobhan on Monday, August 3, 2015 - 23:40

Hi @ke7zum, I have notificatiosn enabled, all I get is, @ke7zum sent you a message. I find my Mac reads that, my phone just goes off witht e vibrating and beeping alert. If I'm missing something please let me know. :)

By KE7ZUM on Monday, August 3, 2015 - 23:40

Hmm. dunno. You probably have stuff set up right. Tweet @fbaccess with feedback if you really want this feature. Personally I do not. but that's just I.

By Siobhan on Monday, August 3, 2015 - 23:40

Hi. Thanks for the response, I'm not going crazy about it or anything, I was just curious if I had something set you didn't etc. :) I don't need it at all or if I do it's a minor, maybe of course withthe I want it shut up option. ;)

By sockhopsinger on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 - 23:40

The other night when I went to load Messenger, I couldn't believe it. I'm used to being able to click on the people tab at the bottom of the screen and having it show me a list of my friends who are active on Messenger. However, Friday night and with no apparent warning, Messenger underwent some sort of ghastly makeover. Now, the People tab is practically useless. Finding your friends who are online seems to have vanished as well. I suppose the Facebook team is living by the technology motto, "If it ain't broke, break it!"

By That Blind Canuck on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 - 23:40

Hi sockhopsinger, they're still there, it's just that now, after selecting the People" tab, at the top, there is a button for "All Contacts". If you select this, it brings you to all your contacts on Messenger. Facebook just likes to improve their applications, and although we might not agree with their changes, it is their app and their choice to make.

One thing I wished we had on iOS was the Facebook Lite and Messenger Lite apps like they have on the Google Play store. It is basically a stripped down version of the apps and only has the core functionality and has all of that extra crap removed, plus it takes significantly less space on your device then the full featured version of the apps. Wish they would release these versions of the apps on iOS, because I would definitely get rid of the full featured versions of the app for the lighter versions.

HTH!
