Write or Die, and other writer's apps

By Amber Shuping, 2 December, 2015

iOS and iPadOS

Hi there,
I am a freelance writer and I was wondering if the app "Write or Die" is accessible. Also, what other writing apps might you recommend to a writer who does mainly nonfiction, informational/educational writing?

Scrivener

I have no experience with Write or Die, but Scrivener is very accessible, and is brilliant for any manner of long-form writing. They have a very generous trial period, so you can try it out without any commitment, and should have plenty of time to decide whether or not you want to buy it.

I have an iPad and an iPhone, but a Windows laptop. From what I saw when I downloaded the trial version, Scrivener wasn't accessible on Windows. Am I wrong? If this is the case, what is a good alternative to Scrivener, either for a Windows laptop or for the iPad?

Ooh, I don't know about Scrivener on Windows. Sorry...

Scrivener is fully accessible on the Mac. They currently do have plans to release it for iOS, I've read their doing a closed beta testing of it. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong about the iOS stuff.

Amazing Writing App For iPad

By WriterGirl

I never even got past the install process for Scrivener on windows, so I am assuming that it is not accessible. I write mostly fantasy, but here are two iPad apps that might be of use to you for outlining purposes. Both seem to be fully accessible with VoiceOver, though I did have to custom label a few buttons.

iA Writer is very accessible with VoiceOver and the interface is just great. The price used to be $4.99, but it's went up by a few dollars so now it is $9.99.
