Back in the early nineties, there were a few baseball games that ran on DOS. I remember that there was one that let you choose from among many classic teams that you would manage and play against the computer. You could have the 1961 Yankees play against the 1986 Mets. You could decide where to position your fielders, when to take a pitch or swing, send runners, etc. Since baseball is so driven by statistics, something like this for iOS would be a natural. I think there were beeps that let you know when the pitch was coming.
