A few IOS questions

I have a few questions, regarding IOS 5.11 on my iPhone 4S. Firstly, I find that I can only receive email whe I am connected to my home WIFI network. Is there some setting where I can change this? It appears that, when connected to other WIFI networks, I cannot get email either and I certainly cannot get it when not in a WIFI hotspot. Secondly, regarding DropVox, the app which allows you to record audio and the result of the recording is automatically uploaded to a Dropbox folder, I read somewhere that, if you are not connected to WIFI, the recording can be stored on the phone and then automatically uploaded to Dropbox when WIFI is available. I tried a short recording, when not connected to WIFI and, when recording was stopped, the app told me it was uploading the audio straight away. I can think of a lot of good reasons to use DropVox, however, I do not want to be incurring data charges from my mobile provider, each time I use it. Many Thanks for your help with the above.

The first question I have is whether or not you have a data plan. If so, how big is it? Also, if you go to connect to your email when not connected to Wi-Fi, what kind of error message are you receiving?

Hi, I have a data plan, which allows me 500 MB per month. As regards DropVox, I would like to record spoken lectures and conferences, lasting between 1 hour and 1.5 hours each. When I have digitally recorded such material in the past, sizes of resulting MP3 fileswere around 55 MB each. I amconcerned that I could soon eat up my data allowance if DropVox is uploading these fies to DropBox on 3G rather than on WIFI. If There is a setting on DropVox, allowing me to determine that I only want recorded material uploaded to DropVox when I am connected to WIFI, I would prefer to use this. Regarding emai, I do not get an error message. I simply do not receive any email. When I am connected to WIFI at home, I then receive it. If I know what setting to switch on or off, determining whether or not I can receive email over a 3G connection, as well as via WIFI, that would be great.

Hi Charlie About your data plan #1 I suggest to you first check your status bar. On the top of the screen next to the signal bar and cellular carrier, need to show you up 3G, it needs to be on the status bar. #2 May possible that your cellular data is off, to see this go to: Settings /general /network u/cellular data it needs to be on so of it's off press double tap on it. In this heading you can find also wifi and many more elements. #3 Nails, calendars, contacts Just to make sure check fetch new data, right here needs to be selected PUSH To see this go to: Settings /nails, contacts, calendars /fetch new data

Hi Charlie, Marco gave the suggestion I was going to give about checking to see if your email is set to fetch on a regular basis. I know mine is not so I don't receive a crazy number of push notifications throughout the day. You may also have to enable something within your email account itself to allow it to go to a second party client depending on what your email carrier's default settings are. .

Hi Charlee, I would sudgest you get a larger data plan more than 500 mb if you are planning on uploading files for hours at a time. The plan I use is 3 gb of data a month with AT&T which runs you $30 a month. I hope this helps.
