King tells us about Facebook's new automatic image description feature for blind and low vision users, as well as Facebook's overall accessibility strategy and how users can provide feedback about accessibility issues or suggestions.

interesting podcast, but it would have been nice if the applevis community had been able to suggest some questions to ask rather than you arbitrarily deciding what should be asked given how important this interview was. for example I would prefer to email facebook access rather than using the contact form like we can do with apple accessibility, I don't usually give feedback because I dislike a proscriptive form I prefer a free email, and also its more convenient to open email than visit a page. also past experience has been when I have reported issues that feedback hasn't been listened to or responded to. With the best will in the world the accessibility team might be trying but I suspect with a lot of facebook people its just lip service and an inconvenience. for example the bug with adding friends has been present for months, and I tried reporting a few times, and didn't even get a response..

Thanks for this very good AppleVis Extra. Listening to it has given me more food for thought for a follow-up blog post I'm about to write for my job. I'm excited for this new recognition feature to come to other platforms. Thus far I've been impressed with Facebook's accessibility efforts. I haven't been on there much as of late due in part to time constraints, but that's soon going to change.
