Help with iTunes

I am using the latest version of iTunes and OS. Frankly, I'm getting old and forgetful. Having gotten a new iPhone, I want to add a significant volume of music to the phone. When I loaded a significant portion of my library previously, I recall the ability to choose music by simply clicking on a checkbox artists or albums and then syncing to my phone. This no longer seems possible. What is the easiest way manually to move music to the phone as I don't want to move my whole library.

With iOS 8.4 and later, you can enable iCloud Music Library on your iPhone. If you have the latest version of iTunes, you can select the songs, press the aplications key and then press down arrow until you hear "Add to iCloud Music Library." Make sure that iCloud Music Library is enabled on your computer. Press control + cama to go to iTunes preferences. Then press tab until you hear "iCloud Music Library." Make sure that the iCloud Music Library check box is checked. That's the only way I know.

You could always go back later and delete the songs you don't want in your music library. To do this, select the song on your computer, press delete and then press enter. When you delete the songs, you can either choose the remove download or the delete options. Pres the delete song button if you want to permanently delete the song from your library. Depending on how much songs you have in your iTunes media folder, you might get a prompt asking you if you want to move the files to the recycle bin or keep them in the iTunes media folder. After "playing" for awhile more, I found my answer. With the iPhone connected to the computer, interacting with the Music scroll area, there is a checkbox labeled Synch Music which must be checked; then artists, albums pop up and you can click on checkboxes to select what to copy to the iPhone. I hope I remember this next time and maybe it will help someone else.
