Hello apple Vis users,
Recently apple has had roomers to remove the Headphone port or Head phone Jack on the iPhone 7. They have also been a roomer to replace the function keys on the 2016 Mac Book Pro with an OLED touch bar.
I wanted to get your opinions on this.
In my case Removing the headphone Port doesn't seem like a good move. I use my phone for more than calling and texting. So when I put a pair of headphone on or earbuds in. It's kind of like a sign of privacy. Which If I'm having to charge my phone where would i put the headphones.
Many of you could counter argue and say that wireless headphones do exist. why not use a pair of those. You could, but at least with my use of wireless headphones they do cut in and out. Which could be an inconvenience for some.
as for the Mac Book Pro removing the physical row of function keys would mean that apple would need to develop some form or way for voice over to be turned on or off with out the keys. although maybe the siri to the Mac OS X feature would have an offline capability. I.E. "Hey siri." "Turn on VoiceOver." You can already do it with Siri, but the issue is that Siri needs an active internet connection.
What do you guys think? I'd like to hear your thought.

That is true, but if you're on an airplane. They do not allow you to use your phone with bluetooth on, or wi-Fi on.
At least with my experience with the wireless headphone they have Dropped signals regularly. So I've heard things cut in and out.

There is also the Eyenote ap that allows you to see what your dollar bills are, but with wireless headphone cutting in and out. You may not know. The only other issue I'd be concerned with is being stuck with no headphone that are a hardwire and needing to see what dollar bill is which in a restaurant for an example. as someone visually impaired I just wouldn't feel safe. Hearing my phone speak out loud. Twenty Dollars Front and then looking to see what other denominations there are Fifty dollars Front. Which I don't carry anything above a twenty on me, but the fact someone else hears that, and they're able to tell you blind just doesn't seem very safe.
The other roomer I heard about the mac Book Pro was that the only ports are the headphones, and something like 4 USB type C ports. NO SD, ethernet, firewire, none of that. just USB C, and a headphone port.

Its a bad idea to remove the headphone jack and I hope that this roomer is not true. If it is I heard they do make a lightning adapter that has a headphone jack built in it. Still I'm hoping for the best. Luckally I'll have my 6S for a year or 2 so I have some time. As for IOS 10 some things I'd like to see in IOS 10 are. First the removal of a ring tone length so you can just use music from your library. It makes no sence that you can't. And the other thing I would like to see is the ability to customise Voiceover sounds. Like if I could I'd turn off the VO swiping sounds and leave everything else on. Also Siri should be able to close apps, create contacts, and more! There should also be a password prompt to turn off your IPhone.

I have the 6 Plus, and it is a good phone. slimming a phone wouldn't bother me, but like I mentioned If I'm having to use my phone to read bills It could be sketchy with a person near by hearing a large sum of money being read aloud. Again I normally do not carry anything larger than $20, but there are occasions where I've had larger denominations.
The Mac book Pro being a lined with the new Mac Book isn't a big thing for me. Me as the person who's always learned have a good plan behind the first plan. a good example is if the wiFi is down, to use the Ethernet connection. Which with the mac book Pro loosing it. Yeah you could run into issues. Ye,s there are dongle's, but like anyone else. That's just another thing to carry and worry about.
i'm not sure what all you have to carry around on the daily, but aside from my phone and Ear Pods. I have essentials for my Leader dog. I.E. Treats, bags, and his gentle leader. Then my wallet. Again a small adapter for my phone wouldn't be a big issue, but with everything else I carry. Just more to carry and watch out for.
as for the Airplane thing. Last summer I flew to Detroit Michigan to go for guide dog training at Leader Dog's For The Blind, and the flight i was on said phone need to be on airplane mode while aboard the Aircraft. maybe that was just my flight since my flight was from Louisville Kentucky, to Detroit Michigan. Maybe not.
Yes, there has been research and information that has said that wireless signals from the phones don't really effect anything. So Like you said see how it plays out in the next few years.
As for iOS ten. The roomers I've heard from what I follow is Siri is supposed to get a serious Over hall. Which is to catch up with Google, and amazon. nOw you can get almost more information from GoogleNow, or alexa. IN fact, Alexa can read stuff to you. Siri I 've not seen her read much other than Wikipedia. I've not had much experience with android, but one thingI plan on doing sometime in the future is make a Youtube Video going over the different accessibility features in android and iOS.
I do agree with you on the ability to use music from your library for ringtones.
Heck, if I'm paying for apple Music and have the ability to use songs as alarms. Why not for a ringtone. That would be nice. nOt many people change the ringtones on there iPhone. So you could be walking pass someone and hearing a phone go off. Is that mine or that other persons.

Well part of progress is change. While I like the headphone jack, I am aware that iPhone will do the best to make the phone better and slender. Therefore no headphone jack. This is why the purchase a company that dcreate bluetooth headset. If does not happpen this phone it will come out on the iPhone 8. We just need to learn to deal with it.

Personally, I don't think it is a good move due to a lot people still using wired headphones. Not everyone can afford Bluetooth headphones.
Unless, Apple can come up with an alternative for those who use wired headphones or earbuds, then I don't think I would buy the new iPhone without the headphone jack.
Also, in taking away the function keys on the MacBook Pro, wouldn't be a good idea being touch strips are so sensitive.

I want to put something to bed right now. Alexa well she can read Kindle books is no better and often times worse than Siri. I picked up an echo because I wanted to play with another platform to see if the hype is real that Siri was that bad. 75% of the time she will play the radio station I ask then 25% of the time she acts like she's never heard or play that station before. I said the exact same way each time. Furthermore when reading kindle books she can only read at one speed there is no adjusting her tone pitch or rate. On an eye device at least with voiceover in the Kindle app or wherever I'm trying to read I can adjust the speed tone volume etc. One observation from your post you're so worried about side of people knowing what denomination you have I'm pretty sure they're gonna be able to tell when you're waving her bills around in front of your phone so regardless if it's spitting out the verbiage over the speaker or on your headphone it's not like your concealing the fact you have money on you very well. They are just rumors at this point so I'm not going to waste my time speculating because it's been rumored there wouldn't be a home button for the last three devices and that still true. Do I think at one point this will be real probably but who knows for the iPhone 7.

I haven't thought about the touch sensitive touch bar, but you do have a good point with the sensitive touch bar.
I do like Progress, but even as a musician having actual wired connections is much better.

I also use headphones a lot for the abovementionned reasons concerning privacy of the Emails or other data being read out by VoiceOver. So if Apple removes the headphone Jack on iPhone 7, I hope there will remain at least one wired alternative, for example using the lightning port, which however would mean you couldn't use your headphones while charging the phone.
As for bluetooth headphones, I've got the Aftershocks Bluez recommended for navigation Apps like BlindSquare and I've had no major drop out issues.

My opinion on these rumors is that they are exactly that. RUMORS. Not truths. I do not spread speculations, as they are not fact, nor do I pay attention to them.

Hey Big Cat, Have you heard whether Apple plan on using Salted or unsalted butter? I have a blood pressure problem, exacerbated by your hilarious post, and could not possibly tolerate a high salt phone...

Wow! a phone made of butter.
pretty funny, but Ok

By Joseph on Friday, June 10, 2016 - 13:44

Like others have said, these are just roomers. Will this happen? I don't know. if it does, and if I get an iPhone 7, I can do this thing called dealing with the change and working with what I have. It's a good thing to do, you know.

By JeffB on Friday, June 10, 2016 - 13:44

An IPhone made out of butter would be delicious on popcorn. However an IPhone without a headphone jack wouldn't be change it be stupidity. The only reason they would want to get rid of it is either to make money, make a phone thinner and its thin enough, and or to mess up the environment with the disposal of thousands of wired headphones. Not that everyone would just ditch them but still it's not a good move if it’s one they decided to make but we won't know until it’s unveiled. So until then pass the butter IPhone.

By Chuck Winstead on Friday, June 10, 2016 - 13:44

The butter iPhone is pretty funny.
This is something I should add now, but Yes they are roomers. Are these roomers 100% accurate. No, but for the most part, a good portion of what people predict with the iPhone can be kind of true.
again not 100% accurate, but take a grain of salt with your butter iPhone.

Wow I am shock that apple wants to make money. What a interested thing. making money. If I own apple I also would like to make money.

A butter iPhone would be no worse than the old 6+ would it? I mean, just like the 6+ the butter iPhone would be likely not to hold its shape when in your pocket. it would also be much easier to recycle your old iPhone wouldn't it? Certainly if they made a chocolate iPad Pro I would be in the market for the larger model, and making the Apple Watch out of, I dunno, hog's pudding would possibly tempt me to put my reservations about tactile timekeeping aside and get one. What's clear is that these cullinary and technological masterpieces would be unlikely to be able to accommodate a headphone jack, and with that I seamlessly move into the serious point. I can't see the headphone jack's being abolished without some alternative being made available as part of the iPhone you buy from Apple. Lightning headphones would be my bet. I'd be disappointed to be wrong because some great points have been made about headphones on here, and I use them for privacy too. I guess I would just buy some bluetooth ones, but would rather not have to.

PS: I've just had a thought! A tablet made out of tablet! Been staring me in the face all along.

PPS: for those uninitiated in the joys of Scottish food, tablet is a hard fudge that originated I believe in Scotland but that is now made in fudge kitchens everywhere in this country. I bought some butter tablet from Cornwall recently, so the butter iPhone could be made from butter tablet and become, in its own unique way, a butter tablet. Or a butter tablet tablet. How confusing it would be.
