Is there a free or cheaper equivalent of Clean my Mac 3?

Hi all,

Yep, having storage issues on my mac again. When it comes to upgrading my Mac I'm definitely going for something bigger than a 60GB SSD :) .

Anyway here's my question, I've heard some great reviews about Clean My Mac 3 so downloaded the free version of it, and it's found about 4GB of junk files. The problem is, because it's only the trial, it's only letting me clear 500MB off and then wants me to buy a license, and it seems pretty expensive to me. Is there a free or cheaper equivalent I could use?
I've used disk cleaner Pro, but it's been quite useless to be honest compared to all the stuff this has managed to find.

Cheers,

Callum.

When it comes to clearing out System and user data and maintaining volume structure, I would suggest onyx which is a free and accessible tool.

I use clean my mac and love it. In my opinion well worth the price.

Hi all, hi Tunderhorse ;) anyway yes, the price once paid is awesome. It cleans up a lot more then you'd think.

Depending on what you celebrate, see if someone will give you a gift card. It's twenty bucks, which is a steal for what it does. The app is even smart enough to notify you, if you're running a beta that it won't work yet with your system. You can find cheaper things sure. do you want quality, or do you want what you can aford? Chances are, I'd think the former rather then the latter. I understand about not wanting to buy every paid app someone recomends, this is not something to put off just because you may find the price high.

I am sure you're sick of hearing this but...
If using apps that delete things, having a backup would be good in case it deletes something that wasn't junk.
I prefer the old slow way of backing up, and then going through files to delete things I don't want and reorganize things I do want. The backup saves me in case I delete something important.
It's free, but slow.
Either way, investing in a backup strategy if you don't already, is a great thing.
