I own an iPhone Six plus and thus far, had no issues with the phone up until the latest iOS update. I applied the latest version of iOS last week and since then, I have noticed that my battery is draining more quickly. Previously, with normal use, I find the battery power to be around 40 percent by evening time. Now it is giving me the low battery warning badge around the same time. I do not have any explanations for this.
Anyone else experiencing the same?

While I do not have an IPhone
Hi their!
While I do not have an IPhone 6 plus, I do have the latest build of the IOS. I do not notice that battery draining quickly. Have you spoken to Apple's accessibility team about this and reported this as a bug?
battery
Same problem. Have iPhone 6. Now in 30 minutes my batterygoes to 80%
And I have the iPhone 6s Plus
And I have the iPhone 6s Plus and the battery drains much faster With iOS 9.3.4. Finally as shown there is a problem.
Small Battery Drain
I have also noticed that my battery drains a little faster then usual. Although it hasn't drained significantly, the battery is about 10% to 15% lower then it would normally be by the end of the day, and I am not using my phone any more then I usually do.
No battery issues here.
No battery issues here. iPhone 6S plus. Just out of curiosity, how muc are you using the phone? I can understand if it is used all day and the battery is showing 20% by evening. Jus curious.
Battery
Doing the same thing that I ddone before, check email, news with the aple news, play a book. No changes with what I do. I know is the iOS unless the battery is no longer working.
Fine here
My battery life (iPhone 6S Plus) is fine after the update. That said, I have a friend with a 6 and their iPhone's battery is draining 20% in an hour, so it's clear there's a bug affecting some people and not others.
You might try...
You might try going into Settings>Battery and check the battery usage. Perhaps the update turned on something you had previously turned off. You can see what apps are using your battery and the percentage.
Battery
Did so and it is not that. I make sure I closed any app that I am not using
I'm having the same problem
I have an iPhone 6 and noticed the same issue. At first, I thought it was because the Tumblr app was sending me more notifications than usual, but since other people are having the problem too...
I'm not sure what it is, like the poster before me said, if you look in battery usage, nothing's changed. The battery is just draining a lot faster than usual.
Maybe something running in the background?
Hello there.
While I've not encountered an issue such as yours, I have heard of people having battery life issues. I'm not exactly sure what you've tried 2 fix ithe issue on your own, but here are a few suggestions that I've heard from various tech podcasts/sources on the internet.
1. There may b stuff running in the background. I'd check your settings & make sure because some apps can run even if u r not using them. I'd just make sure.
2. I've also heard if u have your brightness up it'll eat your battery. If you can I'd turn your brightness down as low as you can.
It could b a bug like u said & this may only fix it temporarily if that's the case. But if all else fails, I'd try maybe getting a hold of accessibility support & c what they can do. I sincerely do hope that these suggestions have helped you. Maybe taking it 2 the Apple store will help solve the issue...
You're Solutions
Thanks for the tips, but they don't apply to me. I always keep my screen brightness at zero. The only app I let refresh in the background is Skype, I have the rest set to off in background app refresh settings.
I don't live near an Apple store, so I can't go there.
What, exactly, can Apple Accessibility do when it's a bug affecting the battery, not VoiceOver? I've seen it recommended on this thread a few times to tell the Apple accessibility team and am just wondering what they can do about it when it has nothing to do with accessibility.
I'm not trying to come off as mean, I really do appreciate your suggestions.
Battery recycle?
Hello,
Have you tried recycling the battery?
Use the phone until it goes completely dead. Then try to turn it on. If it turns on, use it again until the phone turns off. Repeat until the phone will no longer turn on. Then charge the phone overnight.
This worked for me but now my iPhone 6 with IOS 9.3.4 takes about 2 hours to fully charge while on IOS 9.3.2 it only took about an hour.
If that still doesn't work, use iTunes and backup your phone. Then do a factory restore.
HTH and good luck.
I suggest call apple Care Support
I recommend call to apple care support and give your serial number of your iPhone and lat them about your problem.
battery drainage
Yes I have noticed this too. I have a 6S running 9.3.4 and there's a definite battery drainage here, though not a disastrous one.
Similar Issue
I am having the same issue with my iPhone 6 (iOS 9.3.4). The battery is draining approx. 20% over an hour. However, my wife is not having any issues with the battery on her iPhone 6 (also iOS 9.3.4). I'm inclined to think it is another installed app that is causing the problem. Next step may be to do a factory restore.
Might be an app
That's why I suggested looking at the battery usage. When I first upgraded to 9.3.4 on my iPhone 6, I observed this unusually high battery usage. I checked the battery usage and discovered the Sonos app was using a large percentage of the battery. I removed the app from the task manager and my usage returned to normal.
I have no idea what it is about the Sonos app, but I always unload it when I'm done using it. I could speculate that it might have something to do with the music and/or audio portion of iOS, but this is purely a guess. If your task manager is empty, I have no idea what to suggest.
I have a 5S running the
I have a 5S running the latest update as well, and I noticed the same increased battery drain yesterday. I used it the same way I do every day so when I saw the low battery notification I was shocked. I am always one to close Apps right way so Apps running in the background was not my issue. My wife has not reported a problem as of yet.
Here is what I have found.
I have found that on days that I use the Apple Newse app: my iPhone has to be charged half way through the day. I can read a book all day other wise. I don't use the apple news app due to this. This has been the same for the past versions of IOS. I saw this with my 5S, and now with my 6S Plus.
battery an Apple Support
some of you have probably done this before, but the chap from Apple Support told me that a restore from iCloud Backup should correct the issue as it has to redownload IOS. I think they're aware this is a random issue affecting random devices. I have updated my iPad Pro too with no such problems. i'm just trying the restore now. Apologies if you've tried this already and it hasn't worked for you folks.
Reset all settings fixed my issue
So I tried a number of things which failed to rectify my problem. The battery was draining quickly without any usage. I restored from iCloud backup twice, altered settings in location services, background app refresh, deleted recently updated apps, etc... Out of frustration I did a reset of all settings: Setings>General>Reset>Reset all Settings. When I did the first Reset I noticed that none of my settings were changed. I immediately did another Reset all Settings which did change my settings. Battery is working fine now.
Thank you!
Thanks so much for sharing. I just did that an hour ago, just got done fixing everything back to the way I had it. I noticed right away that my phone isn't really hot like it had been. Before resetting all settings, my battery was draining one to two percent a minute, which is insane. I did notice that after plugging my phone in, after it had gotten to 58 percent in 38 minutes without me doing anything on it, that it said it was at 81 percent, which makes no sense. But, hopefully since it's not hot now that means it's not going to start draining fast again.
Thanks again! :)
I'll try that
Thanks for sharing! The restore from iCloud Backup hasn't worked for me so that's all I have left.
how to do so?
O
OK Tell me how. I forgot how to do so. Also Will I lose my music that I have in my iPhone? I have 3400 songs and 45 photos.
Reset All Settings
Settings>General>Reset>Reset all Settings. You don't lose any data files when you reset all settings.
OK
Done. Will see if this fixes the battery issue.
Done
Just noticed that Alex is gone and got different voice. Did this happen to anyone?
Restting
I did lost my WIFI which I need to reset, download Alex, and do not know what else I lost. Well if it fix my battery I can deal with setting everything again. Next time tell us that we will lose WIFI and our voice.
An update from me
Resetting all settings did work for me, a little. Instead of taking 38 minutes to get to 58 percent, it took an hour and a half to get to 58 percent. This is ridiculous. I can't get a new phone until around November, so I'm stuck with this issue. I hope iOS 10 will fix it, but I don't know what to do until that comes out other than bring a battery pack with me... Does anyone have any other suggestions? Do you think I should try the reset all settings again?
I didn't mind having to re-customize my settings.
Rogue app.
Hello,
It could be a rogue app and resetting the settings will not fix that.
Back up your device using iTunes then do a factory restore. Set up the phone as new and do not install any apps. Use it for a few days and observe the battery life. If the battery discharges normally, install your apps. If the battery drain is still high, it’s a hardware/OS issue and you should contact Apple and let them know what you’ve done.
The alternative would be to carry a backup battery until you get your new device or IOS 10 is released.
HTH and good luck.
this doesn't offer a lot of hope, guys
I'm seeing a lot of"maybe this might work", "or this might work", but no real answers. My battery is having trouble as well, and in this latest update, VoiceOver and all other sounds keep going to the earpiece randomly. it also happens on my iPad, which is really interesting. To get it to work again I have to open a radio-related app and play a station for a few seconds to get it back to normal. It just randomly does this for no reason I know of. Sad part is these aren't accessibility issues. I hope that the next version of iOS, wether it be 9.3.5 or iOS 10 fixes all this.
resetting
Well it did not work. Still having issues with battery. I will get iPhone 7 in September. Hope iOS 10 fix the problem. I do believe is the iOS 9,3,4
Reset twice
Hi guys,
it appears to have worked for me, but you have to reset all settings twice. First time I reset all settings, I noticed that some of them had changed but not all. So my passcode was gone, for example, but I could tell it hadn't reset all settings by the fact that my Voiceover settings (rota, speech voice, Braille screen input) remained the same and it was still logged on to my Wireless network. A second reset all settings did the trick. Perhaps some of you guys haven't done the reset all settings twice? Sorry just clutching at straws here.
PS: when i made Apple Support aware of this issue there was an awful lot of blaming it on third party apps from their end.
resetting
When I did so, everything needed to be change. So I do not needed to do it another time. Beside it affected Alex. His voice goes faster than I like. It goes from 50 to 60 and 60 is to fast specially when I am reading email or message or article from the apple news.
Twice?
Hi,
I'm pretty sure the first time I reset all settings, it actually reset all settings. The only thing it didn't reset were the settings in third party apps. I had to re-enter my wi-fi information, re-download the Alex voice (which wasn't such a big deal) and then re-customize the rest of the things in the settings app to how I had them before. I did notice an improvement with the battery drain, it took three times what it had taken before (an hour and a half vs. 38 minutes) to get down to 58 percent.
What kind of improvement are you seeing? My phone doesn't get really hot like it had before, at least, which is obviously a good thing. I'm just curious what happened when you reset it a second time. I can do it again, I just didn't really want to bother if it wouldn't actually work, haha.
Another thing, how can Apple say it's a third party app when, looking at my battery usage, it said settings took up the highest percent of usage?
In reply to Anna
@anna yes I know I know. Don't shoot the messenger. i thought it was a bit silly to be honest and rather frustrating as responses from support technicians go. I had to keep repeating that the issue was obvious because my usage pattern hadn't changed one jot, and yet the battery drain was significant. i also did the battery checks you've referred to and they showed nothing out of the ordinary.
Sounds like your reset actually did reset all settings unlike mine. yours did what it should do, but I had to have a second go at it to make it work. I don't know why. I am guessing it's all to do with the random mysterious issue several of us have been experiencing since updating.
As to improvement, well Anna it still sounds like yours is not quite right. I would say the improvement I am seeing is enormous. it's like having a new phone. I used the battery pretty heavily yesterday, and it went down from 100 percent to 57 percent over the course of a fifteen-hour day, so yours still doesn't sound at all right, though I guess if you've been using a lot of GPS, for example, it might explain it. I would say, though, that down from 100 percent to 58 percent in an hour and a half is still far more than it should be. It's really annoying resetting all settings because you have to spend an hour or so fiddling about afterwards to get it back to how it was, but maybe in your case it's worth another shot? I hope it works for you this time. Let me know how you get on.
Reply to Bingo Little
I just reset all settings again. Well, I did it twice, just to make sure it would work. As in, I reset it once, didn't alter anything, reset again then re-customized. The only thing I noticed that was different was I didn't have to re-download the Alex voice. I did have to re-enter my wi-fi information, re-sign into my iTunes account, etc.
At least, since I had already done this Saturday, I already knew what I had to change back, haha. I think it went faster this time around than before.
I've turned my phone off for a bit, I'll turn it back on in like an hour-ish. Hopefully this will work.
I wonder why this battery bug is affecting some phones and not others? People who have the same phone don't all have the bug, and people with different phones have it. I have the six, other people have the 6S or 6+ or 6S+.
battery
I just decided to wait for iOS 10 and also planning to get the iPhone 7. But want to make sure iPhone 6 will work because I am going to give it to a friend for her birthday.
In reply to Anna
I'm so sorry, I'm afraid I'm out of ideas. It does seem to be a very random issue. The only thing I can suggest is taking it to the apple Store and seeing what they can do with it. If you bought your phone direct from apple, one option they have is to give you a replacement. Otherwise, I do hope IOS 10 resolves your issue for you.
Several folks have said they'll hang on in there till the iPhone 7 comes out and I hope that sorts things out for you guys. For my part, I would be furious if i had to do that because I only bought my iPhone 6S less than a year ago, and it is not a contract phone. We don't have the one iPhone a year plan available to us from apple over here I don't believe, so I would have to spend a fortune. besides, it would seem very wasteful from my point of view, having bought what is a very high tech piece of kit so recently. With that in mind, I'm glad the battery issue is resolve for me, but goodness knows why or how!
At least it's better than it has been
At least it's better than it has been, and I have a battery pack. I can't upgrade every year either, but I can upgrade in November, probably. I'll have had my six for two years by that point.
I own an iphone 5s and I
I own an iphone 5s and I encountered the same problem but i think i may have found a decent workaround .This issue just started when activated siri from the settings app . The fix is that go to the about menu in settings and turn siri off if u can manage without siri . The problem got fixed when i did so . Maybe there is some issue with the diagnostics etc that siri sends to apple .
