Questions about Gmail on a Mac

Near as I can figure you need to login to your gmail account, and delete the 430 messages.

Hi, There are a couple things you could do. One would be to move some of the messages to folders for perhaps more efficient orginization of your mail. You will also want to make sure that imap is enabled on your gmail account under settings if you want to make sure that all messages on both your mac and iPhone are synced. If you need more help with any of these processes sing out and I am sure that someone can help. I have the e-mail on my mac and both iOS devices and it works well.

Hello, because Gmail is web-based, whatever you see on your phone is with you should see on your Mac.
I use Gmail through the Safari browser, and just enter my username and password. Then whatever is on my phone is also reflected on my Mac Mini.

You should instead use your gmail client to access gmail on mac, the very same way you do on your iphone.

In fact, the iphone, the gmail site and the mac client as well as any other client you happen to use will reflect the 4 k messages you have.

Thhe website will show them in pages, but if you keep going forward you will be able to see all your messages.

What is exactly your issue with this? You have 4 k messages and that's all. The only way of having less than 4 k in your inbox is either deleting undesired messages or organizing them into folders so that they do not end up all on the same place, your inbox.
No e-mail client or web e-mail client will make a miracle: should you have 4 k messages they will show your 4 k messages. You should organize your inbox if this is bothering you a lot. If you configure your mac Mail client it will show the 4 k messages in a list from recent to the oldest, much like your iPhone Mail client does. You won't have to deal with old messages if you navigate only the top part of the list. Indeed you will be more eficient using the mac Mail client.

Do you want to avoid usage of disk space on your Mac Mini and therefore not see the 4 k messages on this particular device?

If you really don't feel like deleting the messages, you can archive them. I use the Mac client and I just make it a practice to archive anything more than two years old.

I am glad archiving worked for you. I meant the Mail app on the Mac. I don't use a web client. The Mail app is very accessible and works great with Gmail.
