Hi all!
I've tried You Version's The Bible App, but the experience is not that good. VO would pause in interesting places, for example it would say
"in Him was life, and the life was (then, it would pause, before it says) the light of men." Such incidences are a staple when using the app with VO.
I am a fan of the New King James version Bible text, so I hope to get a good reading experience on my iPhone SE that is free and accessible.
Thanks all for replying. GBYA!

The YouVersion and touch bible apps are accessible.
Thanks, but
Hi.
There seems to be a problem with the you version bible app when using it with the NKJV text. Like I said in the main post, VO would stop in the middle of a sentence. In the example I gave from John 1, it paused when there was no punctuation. If you use the flicking gesture, you would be reading in the middle of the verse. I wonder how to break this issue, and hope I've described my problem correctly.
Thanks again for writing!
This is not an app, but works well
Hi, this is a link to a website which has the king James version Bible in its entirely, and works very well with voiceover.

Thanks, but I'm looking for NKJV
Hi,
I speak English as a second language, and up to now the KJV is still a bit confusing and difficult for me to understand. But the New King James Version is a better text for me. It's modern, but still has a formal and classic kind of a feel.
Still, thanks for the link!
Can confirm
David,
I can confirm your complaint. For example, it takes 5 flicks to the right to read verse 1 of John 1 in NKJV. In KJV, one flick right does the job. This only seems to happen in NKJV I've tested in KJV and ESV and it works perfectly. I'm going to have someone look at this visually, to determine if there is a major difference.
Bible Gateway
Hello,
Have you tried the Bible Gateway app? It is accessible with VO. Once you download the app, you can download one version of the bible to use for offline. You can choose from many different versions of the bible.

I haven't tried the Bible Gateway app
Hi!
It's actually my first time hearing it. I'll check to see if it supports NKJV.
Thanks for suggesting!
Thank you!
Hi!
Yes, and I hope there is a followup to this. Actually, similar problems also exist in versions of my native tongue - Mandarin Chinese. But I prefer reading the Bible in English.
Thanks for checking this out for me. Will be checking this page to see if there are any followups.
Good luck!
Another nice app.
Hello David Lai,
I also like this app called Verse-A-Day. A notification comes up reminding you to read your daily verse. You can choose the New King James too. I also really like the commentaries. Very encouraging. Check it out.
Thanks for recommending
I've read the appstore description, and it dawned on me that this app has adds. That will be very interesting, because I've never incountered an app that has advertisements. It would be interesting to learn to navigate away from them. So thanks, I'll try it out!
