I have a chromecast. It’s not a chromecast 2 but just a chromecast. I am wondering if there is a way for me to stream from a web page video onto a chromecast. I am on a website on an open archive.
I am assuming your Chromecast is connected already. You need to make sure you are running latest version of Google Chrome on your PC then go to the menus with alt plus F. Scroll down and look for the cast option.
I read somewhere that if you're casting the entire desktop on a mac, you won't get audio.
I don't know about casting the webpage on its own.
I don't own a mac so can't confirm this, but when I mentioned this in a tweet, google actually replyed to my tweet and basicly said there is no news on whether you will be able to have audio when casting the entire desktop on a mac.
Now if you are on windows it's pretty streight forward.
Hit alt + e, then the letter C for cast and the rest is pretty straight forward.
I am on iOs and not on mac or windows. I don’t need a computer because the iPad is sufficient enough for me to use. The thing is that I have chrome on my iPad but for some reason I cannot figure out how to cast to it.
You can't cast with the chrome browser on ios, at least not on an iPhone.
I have a feeling it's the same for ipads.
I was in a similar predicament so I went hunting for a web browser, just so I can cast to my chromecast.
Luckily I found one.
It is called MomoCast.
This app works in two ways.
You can use it as a stand alone browser and when you are about to play a video, it should prompt you to connect to a chromecast on your network.
The other way is to add a share extention to safari, so basically when you're on the page with the video, hit share, then choose the option cast with MomoCast.
It takes some getting use to, I use it mainly for watching turkish television, since the apps for those either don't support chromecast, don't have the stations I want, or are inaccessible.
You might need to add the share extention when using it for the first time.
It's one of those switch buttons, just toggle it on.
This app works fine! I can use it perfectly. It is clear and I understand all of it. I just go into safari on the archive and then I just open the video, tap share and choose momocast. I am watching swedish open archive wich is a good website in sweden. Thanks for showing me this great app. Someone should add it to the iOs app directory, and it may be me.
The app is supposedly limited when using the free version, but I have never encountered any limits.
I'm wondering if it's suppose to cut out when watching videos after a certain amount of time, like I said, so far I'm using the free version and have had no issues.

If you have Google Chrome
You should be able to cast from the menus.
Cannot find it
I am unsure of wich menu but I cannot seem to find this. Can I get directions?

Cast tab is already set by default.

Glad you're enjoying the app.
I know I certainly find it useful.
