What are the most accessible word games for totally blind users?

By Jamie, 15 January, 2016

iOS and iPadOS Gaming

Hi, all, I have tried many different word games since I purchased my 3gs in 2011 and now have my iPhone 6 as of a month ago. I have had different levels of success with the games and am wondering which are favorites and easiest to access and play successfully. I'm sure these change with subsequent updates, so this is why I'm asking. I recently got worder and tried to find ones called wurdle and lexitron. Are these successful? I have one on my phone now just simply called words and I can't figure out how to play so this one may be deleted soon. Is wordZinga still accessible, and what are good games for anagrams and word scrambles? I'm open to any and all feedback on word games of all kinds. Thanks and have a blessed day. PS: I just recently as of a day or so ago got the blindfold word games and am happy the developers made this available.

I am glad you found the blindfold series of games. I have tried a lot of word games, and most of them come and go, but my favorite is by far I associate too. You are given words and have to associate them with other words. For example, pet leads to cat which leads to mouse wich leads to cheese.

A game similar to I associate is link that word. I also like word Cord, and I like and word warp

Ordet

Another excellent game is "Ordet: everyone's favourite little word game". You are presented with 7 letters at the bottom of the screen. The object of this game is to form as many words, including 1 or more 7-letter words, as possible. You select each letter by double tapping and holding. To submit a word, double tap the "Submit" button. Once a 7-letter word has been submitted, the next level is automatically unlocked. This game is also playable with a Bluetooth keyboard and there is no time limit for completing a level so you can play at your own pace.

Accessible Letter Soup

My favourite word game at the moment is Accessible Letter Soup in which you have to find words that are randomly placed in a grid of letters. It is very accessible as the name would suggest, and it has several different possibilities for game play. It is well worth the price.

I don't know if this game will go in the word game category, but try out lifeline. It's free until next Thursday.

No, Lifeline is not a word game, though I started playing it this morning and I like it so far. Something strange has happened to the character, and I want to see what happens next.

I really like clever Clues, & Andrew, its developer, is really responsive to accessibility needs. The initial game is free, w/game packs for purchase. 4 down is also good.

Hi,

My favorite blind-accessible word game at the moment is SpellStack. This is a game similar to Scrabble and some of the other word games mentioned. Other cool and blind-accessible word games include Moxie 1 and 2, 7 little words, 94 Seconds, etc. Good luck!
Best,
André
