Hello,
Can anyone give me any tips on how to navigate the amazon app? It along with their website have become a clutter bag. I'm trying to order something on the app now and can't even find the add to kart button after clicking on the item I want.
Amazon use to be my favorite but this clutter they keep adding is wanting me to drop business with them.

Aira
Hi,
Have you tried using Aira to help with your problem? Have a great day!
be my eyes
Have you tried be my eyes?
Also, I have a solution that may help. I buy kindle books from them. And if I see a book I like I put it in my wish list. Then when I'm ready to buy it I go to my wish list, and purchase it there. Also, I'd bookmark your wish list page in Safari or whatever browser you use. I did that, and I tell you it's been a real lifesaver!
My advice, search for the jtem you want, then click on the add to wish list button. Then, you can purchase it from there. That way all you have to worry about is getting to your list. I will agree with you. Amazon's site has gojten cluttered. Can't speak for the app because I can't buy kindle books that way. Use the app to search for the item and add it to the list. Then go to www.amazon.com
and purchase it.
Good luck and hope this helps!
Explore by touch
Amazon is not as hard as you seem to think. You also don't need to waste Aira minutes or be my eyes, not that I have that app. Here's what to do. First, open the app, touch near the top, or flick around. You will see a "What are you looking for?" Double tap. Write the item, click search. Then swipe right until you find the item. Once the page loads, tap on the item you want. Flick around to hear things like the description, reviews and other details. Near the top, you should see something like, deliver to"your name" popup button. Flick right once, you should see add to cart button. You know it's in there as the phone, if you are using it, vibrates. Then, swipe to one item in cart, tap, then you should be able to proceed to check out. If this still doesn't work, contact me off list, i'll face time you through it. It's so much easier explained then it it is here. Let me know.
Handling Amazon's Clutter
Here are a few things that I do and I am a heavy user of the app.
First of all, I don't much like the website version anymore but I can still handle it. The app, on the other hand is quite easy to deal with, once you understand it.
The Cart button is located in the upper right hand corner of the app.
Using the rodor is going to help you out quite a bit. For most things, the Headings rodor option is the way to go. Once you conduct a search for an item, ensure that the rodor is set to Headings. Then simply swipe up/down with one finger to navigate the screen.
One thing that has change with the last couple of updates is that the Headings setting will jump you right passed the description of the item the first time you try to find it. This is very consistent behavior now but still manageable. If you have navigated by Headings and hear the word "for", this is the indicator that you passed the description. Just reverse the direction, while still using the Headings setting, until you find the description. Then you simply swipe to the right to find the info you are looking for.
If you need to change the options for an item such as color, size, or flavor, then locate the title of the item, found toward the top of the screen. Then swipe to the right until you hear something like size button, color button, etc. Sometimes you will hear the size or color, etc, actually mentioned when you locate this feature and other times you will not. Once this has been located, do a one finger double tap to open. then swipe right/left to see the choices. Do a one finger double tap on the choice that you need and then find the done button. Double tapping this will close out the selection window and place you back into the main app screen. Then you can either swipe to the right through the stuff, until you find Add to Cart button, or you can change the rodor to buttons and then find the Add to Cart Button and double tap to add the item to your cart. I usually just swipe through instead of changing the rodor.
If you have more questions or problems, I'll be glad to help.
How I Handle Amazon Kindle Purchases
If the book I wish to purchase was not found in the BookBub or FreeBooksy E-Mail subscription services that I use, then I will open the Today's screen on the Phone, which used to be known as Screne one, then I open the search button, found in the upper left hand corner. I then use dictate and speak the name of the book or the name of the author. I also insert the word Kindle at the end of the search. then I conduct the search, by double tapping the search button, found in the lower right hand corner of the keyboard. This will bring up many options, most of which are not important here. You look for the web search button, found toward the very top of the search. If you have Google set as your default browser page, then it will open up Google and show you the options. Most of the time, my book or author is found at the top of the choices. Because I placed the word Kindle in my search terms, it will take me to the Kindle version of the book or the Kindle listings for the author. If I don't put Kindle in the search terms, then it will also show options for paperback, hard cover, audible, and even other book stores such as Barns and Noble, for example. these other choices are actually listed, but much further down the original search screen
If you have more questions about this, I'll be glad to assist you.
amazon
What I do is call the disability number and they add whatever I need to my card and go to my PC to check the itom. The app in my iPhone is dificult to move around it. Do not use it. PC does works well with amazon and google.
One thing to keep in mind
I have found that the app works better in Chrome than say, Internet Explorer. I still try to avoid Edge, and I'm not a big fan of Firefox. As far as the Mac side, I have no suggestions. Still, using the headings on Chrome works very well for finding descriptions and reviews and all the major categories.
Images and links
On the IOS phone app, there are screens where you will need to navigate products by flicking with your rotor set to images or links. I think the lightning deals might be one of these. You'll have to switch around after you figure out how the products are listed.
As far as the web site, I usually select the link up near the top for the simplified web site before I sighn in, then go back to the full site after I make my purchases and sign out.
Before I sign in, I've usually already found all the products I want using google searches and looking at individual product pages. That way they are in the site's browsing history and the heading, pick up where you left off. It's just a matter of adding them to my cart and checking out while I'm on the site... unless I get an urge to browse the deals.
Hi,
Hi,
Using the website in Safari on macOs is very simple. Just use your various navigation keys in VoiceOver to jump by headings, edit boxes, etc to navigate. For the most part I either use the the amazon access site or the main site and both work wonderfully. The app works great, same as the site.
Website Seems Pretty Good to Me
I'll admit I haven't purchased anything myself on Amazon, but I have done a couple things on there. Account creation is very simple. I just used their accessibility page and didn't have to deal with any CAPTCHA. I browsed through some family members' wish lists last year, and could pretty much tell what they wanted and things like that. Amazon's website might not be perfect, but as has been stated time and time again nothing and nobody is perfect. Regarding the companion Alexa app for iOS, I've had pretty good luck with it too. I didn't know there was even another Amazon app.
do you have a dot, tap, or echo?
If so, that is the easiest way to order stuff. If you do not, I would disregard the first 2 suggestions that people have given. AIRA is too expensive and Be My Eyes would take a very long time.
