Apple Hardware and Compatible Accessories

Hi friends,

My first generation iPhone SE is showing its age, and now I'm in the market for a new iPhone. I would like to have the latest processor and performance capabilities, but since I'm completely blind, there's no use for a big screen.

I would like to learn more about the iPhone SE 2020 and the mini. Of course, the mini was just announced, and the screen is 5.4 inches. How about the SE 2020? Can those who use this modle share your experiences with me? Would it be better for me to get the SE or the latest mini that was just announced?

Hi all,

The question is exactly as stated in the subject, however, I will add a bit of background.

Firstly, I am totally blind, but to add to this, I have a pair of trashcan lids for hands. I am currently using an iPhone XR, and have always used smaller iPhones. However, I used a Samsung Galaxy A73 for over a year and loved the size and battery life of the thing.

Now to ask the question again, which is the better option, the 14 plus or pro max.

I know the size is exactly the same, so call that a draw.

I have no idea on the battery, so asking.

Hello everyone, I hope that I am posting this in the right forum.
I am totally blind and wanting to update my iphone. I dont mind the larger size of the 14pro/pro max would like to get them because of longer battery life.
BUT what hifi crowned the 14 pro max as the best sounding phone yet with its speakers. Very nice because I really enjoy listening to some general music as well as audiobooks and podcasts with just the iphone speakers.
Now I was wondering though:
are the speakers within the 14pro and 14 pro max the same or are there differences?

I heard that with the iPhone14 in the fall of this year they will be getting rid of the mini version of the phones for $699. I hope not because I like that $700 pricepoint. Also I wonder if all iPhone14 models will come with lidar?

Hi all.

I'm thinking of possibly upgrading my 12 Pro to the 15 (the 15 Pro is just a bit too expensive).

I know the 15 doesn't have the Light IR sensor so I wouldn't be able to use People Detection or Door Detection. I never really used those features on my 12 Pro because I hate juggling my cane, mini guide, and phone when out and about.

But would the 15 be able to use the Text Detection feature? I find this better than Seeing AI.

Okay I have a SE 3. I want something better. do I go 15 pro or pro max? Why would you particularly choose the phone? I would like to especially hear from those that have the new phones. I'm of course open if you don't have the phone hearing your thoughts but I would love the thoughts of those that have the devices.

Firstly, I am grateful to have AppleVis available again!
I am considering the iPhone 16 range. For a totally blind person, is the pro worth upgrading to? Especially with the new camera this year. I wonder if there will be benefits for apps like seeing AI even for tasks such as scanning documents.
Are features like door detection practical with the current sensors in the pro range?
I also heard there will be more audio features in the new pro.

I'm blind and cannot afford an iPhone 5. I need to choose between the 4 and 4S. Specific concern is turn by turn for driving with maps and, whether Ariadne for walking directions will work on 4. How many maps can I store on 4? I live in a small town and only need location identifier plus just 2 or maybe 3 area maps at a time. I don't want to pay for expensive map or nav apps unless there is one I really need. I want to run the phone on StraightTalk or maybe Net 10 if that matters.

hello I am looking for a stand that I can mount the iPhone either virtically or primarily horizontally into. I would like to try taking photos of documents so I can scan with OCR applications to see if I can obtain a leveled out immage. Does anyone have or recommend any sort of stand/tripod that can extend up to 6 or so inches tall, and be adjusted up down, left, and right. Please feel free to comment on my idea, thanks!!

I have put a screen protector on the back of my Iphone that covers my camera lens. I have read though that this can cause the quality of the image to be degraded. I would like to know if this is true? I am thinking it could cause distortion with the reflective surface of the screen protector. Also, I am using a clear cover on the back of my white Iphone which has a hole for the camera but is it likely this can cause extra glare when taking photos?

In the last couple of days, my IPhone has started inadvertently unlocking itself. I have a passcode and it is set to be input 10 times before it locks me out. However, this is clearly happening, as I have found myself (temporarily) locked out of my phone. I cannot determine whether it is the home button or the on/off/lock button which is somehow becoming compressed and thus allowing the keyboard to be activated and the numbers to be pressed.

Hello: I am an IPhone 4S user and I am happy with it. My questions is that I am due to upgrade in a couple of months and I am debating with staying with the 4S or moving up to an Iphone 5. I have no useable vision so the size of the screen doesn't matter to me. I would love any opinions on staying with the 4S or getting the Iphone 5. What are the pros/cons for keeping or upgrading. I have a 16GB phone right now and I am thinking of getting either a 32GB or a 64GB. I look forward to hearing what all of you have to say. Thanks a lot. Nancy

Hello all. I have looked all around the forums for information on whether or not it is worth upgrading to a 5 from a 4s. I know the 5 is a bit faster and such. What are the pros and cons to doing this? If any? I ask because I am able to upgrade now. thanks for any help.

I couldn't get a Verbatim bluetooth keyboard to read text when typed on my iPhone with a 5.01 operating system. It did announce text when deleted by backspacing. Any comments or suggestions? Anyone successful under these conditions?
