iOS and iPadOS

Ok so this is weird, but I have been using an iPhone since 2013 and am still dissatisfied with my typing speed on iPhone, and with consistently performing the router gesture.

I use touch typing and only have word feedback, and have the werty keyboard memorized, but still feel like I hit the wrong key like a third of the time. Any tricks you guys have to type faster on the default keyboard or good third party keyboards? I know about Flicktype but nothing else. I also do dictation but hate it in public settings.

Hi. I was wondering if anyone has found an accessible typing practice app for the iPad. Also it needs to be used with a Bluetooth keyboard. Thank you.

If I hold my ipad 2cm away from my nose and invert the colours I can see enough to figure out where the keys are and type. But this, along with any other attempts to read anything, worsens the already very irritating nystagmus and causes headaches. Which is the whole reason i am getting voiceover training. Currently im busy getting mac training, but soon will be starting ios training. You dont need to be a genius to use voiceover on ios, i can already navigate quite well.

After updating to IOS 13.2 and especially updated Whatsapp to V2.19.110 I discovered to my utter delight that my old Astrum 3.0 bluetooth keyboard types punctuation signs using the shift key correctly, like before. Pressing control plus the space bar to change keyboards from alphabet to emoji causes no issue.

I was using my Iphone today and the U.S female Siri stopped announcing and Samantha advanced took over. So I shut down my Iphone and turned it on again to no avail, it was still Samantha. So I went to VoiceOver voices and discovered the U.S female wasn't downloaded, that's weird, so I redownloaded the U.S female Siri and it works again. I also have advanced Tom downloaded on my phone as well as advanced Samantha. Has this happened to anyone else?

Can anyone help me and my wife use Uber? I swear the Annonimouse did a podcast on it, but I can't find it. Wife is having problems with seting up the location otions for a ride. She just created an account. My guess it doesn't work here. Thanks.

I can't figure out the uber app.
I was able to creat an account but can't figure how to request a ride when I am signed in.
Also how can I advise the driver of my apartment number entry code and that I'm blind and need assistance.
if anyone knows of any pod casts or step by step tutorials,
or any help i'de appreciate it.

Hi, I have the latest version of IOS and the latest version of Uber. Recently, my app only tells me that the pickup location is my current location, which is of course not helpful because I can't see where the pin is. Is anyone else having this problem?

I was able to use siri to order a ride with 'Call Uber' this stopped working and I found I then had to say 'get Uber'
This has now stopped working, and siri appears to think about it for a while and then tells me that I have to continue through the app.
I tried with Get me an Uber home (and I have got home as a place within the app) and it still doesn't work

Does anyone know if there is a different phrase that I have to use?

Hi I haven't used the uber app in a while,
since I have read here that the options to contact the driver split payment cancel rides etc have not been accessible.
I use that function all the time when I use to request uber.
I have asked uber customer service if it has been fixed but I was told it was submitted to there app devepers for fixing.
I believe they don't know the answer.
I was using lyft but now I don't know about that.

I read somewhere you can put the promo code assist in your uber app and it will tell the driver that you have a disability, and then I read somewhere else that it's a whole other uber option that will be available on your phone. Thinking it may have just been heresay, I entered assist on my phone and it accepted the code but I don't see a uber assist option. Is this a feature only available in select areas? Will it really tell the driver I have a disability?

Is there a known issue with the uber button in the blind square app? The issues I'm having is that it is either dimned or the ETA is incorrect. My uber app itself works fine and there's drivers in the area so I know it's not an issue with uber. The blind square app is up to date.

I recently downloaded the new Uber Eats app and gave it a test run. The good news is, I was ultimately able to place an order for food and the food arrived in a very reasonable amount of time. The bad news is, I would not call the app voiceover friendly. In fact, I think it would be very challenging for anyone other than a expert level voiceover user to navigate. Has anyone else tried it?

Hi all. I noticed when I'm in the Uber Eats app, I can't change the address to reflect where I am. Because I am in a condo complex, it naturally puts me a bit father then I am. Here's the problem. I can search and find my exact building number, as well as my condo number when I put it in. What i can not do is findout how to select it. If I double tap the button nothing seems to change. I've tried with voice over off, and i still can't.

I'm encountering a new bug with Uber Eats, where if I double tap a restaurant within a list of restaurants, it always opens the first restaurant in the list no matter which one I actually tried to choose. Say for example under the Today's Offers heading is Subway, then Pizza Hut, then Mcdonalds. Double tapping Pizza Hut or Mcdonalds will open the screen for Subway. This happens whether I swipe to or manually locate the restaurant I'm trying to choose.

well the subject says it all.
When I learned of this offer I signed in to face book messenger,
but I can't get the uber part of it to work with voice over.I think we as blind people should have the same rights as everyone else to use that free ride credit.
Also I haven't used uber since I read here that the contact a driver option is inaccessible.
If anyone can tell me if that was fixed.
Also I belive lyft has fixed there app with this last new update after we emailed them.

1. Which is more accessible using VoiceOver?

2. Which is easier to use in general - i.e., simplicity and useability of the UI.

3. Which service is better (if either) and why.

Hi all. I need to figure out something. I used Uber putting my address in as 123 Joe Dr. Obviously this isn't my address. But because it's a condo complex, and I was outside waiting, the person I was with was able to hail the driver. Now, I was told my pin was somewhere different then I. Keep in mind I was the only one waiting so I'm thinking they go by what their phone says, not visually, oh let's get that woman standing there. Now my question: How if I can, do I use the Center Map pin? I'd like to so someone can spot me if i'm alone.
