I am attempting to use this app, which is great for people like me, who do not know how to point an iPhone camera to a mac screen. the app does not seem to work as expected. . it says, QR Code updated, so i keep holding my phone to the screen. then after that, it says, QR code gone. if you linked Whatsapp with your phone, you are done. which window should I have in focus. Whatsapp, or QR Magnifier?

Using the app
If this is the app I posted about in the WhatsApp QR code thread, then the idea is that you start WhatsApp on the computer. It should display a QR code. Then you launch the QR Magnifier. It should look at the WhatsApp window and project a magnified version of the QR code. You then use WhatsApp on the phone, add a device and point it at the bigger QR code.which is then easier to scan on the phone. When I did it, my phone vibrated pretty much straight away and confirmed that it had worked. I then could close the QR generator app on my Mac and the Mac version of WhatsApp should be logged in.
I've only tested this with the WhatsApp Mac obtained through the app store, so I don't know if the one downloaded from the web site is any different.

Re: Using the app
Can you confirm if the version of WhatsApp for the Mac is the version you downloaded from the app store or the web site?
The Mac app refreshes the QR code every 20 seconds or so, and the magnifier should handle that. But if a few minutes pass, then the Mac WhatsApp app might timeout and ask you to retry.
If that happens, you would need to switch back to WhatsApp (Mac) and press the βreload QR codeβ button. Then switch back to QR Magnifier. It should say "QR Code found". Then then try to scan again.
Just make sure the QR Magnifier has focus on the Mac when you scan the code, as it's where the big version of the code should be shown.
Also make sure you don't have screen curtain turned on.
