Hey,
So I'm not sure if itβs something I've just noticed and am now fixating on, or if this has been introduced in Tahoe 26.1, but voiceover has a very slight delay reading elements in web pages, slight but noticeable... Annoyingly so.
Is anyone else getting this? I get it when moving through headings or tabbing through elements. I'm using the Alex voice.
Or am I just going mad!!!
Again.
It's not latency as such, there is a click as the element comes into focus. An example is on the home page of Apple Vis and the Be My Eyes link... Click... Pause Be my eyes...

Not happening here with Vocalizer Expressive speech
Could you try a different voice temporarily for testing purposes? I'm not encountering this, at least with Vocalizer Expressive speech.
Testing with siri voices
It doesn't seem to be voice dependent. Another example is in commenting here. "Subject" and "Commment" are read without delay, everything before that is read with a beat of delay.
I do have 'beeps on for links, so maybe that's what it is...
I'm flipping between being convinced it's a new behaviour and then that it isn't. The pause is certainly there though.
Reset VO?
Have you tried backing up your VO settings, and then resetting VO?
Good idea
Just tried it. Still got the pause. It makes navigation rather arduous.
Unfortunately a Known Issue in 26.1
This is unfortunately a known issue in macOS 26.1. I personally find it infuriating, especially as VoiceOver is already less responsive than it is on Windows.
Thank you Michael
I'm glad to hear I'm not going mad.
I'll drop Apple accessibility a line. Who knew they could actually make the experience worse! The innovation is outstanding.... /S
