I first saw EchoVision by Agiga at Vista Center Ignite Accessibility Entrepreneur Pitch Competition last month. It was hard for the AGI to hear me and for me to hear the descriptions and Be My Eyes in the noisy exhibit hall. Based on my interview with Blind Abilities, Huasongcm, CTO at Agiga reached out to Jeff and wanted to chat, where Jeff from Blind Abilities asked if I would like to be on it, where I agreed, but wanted to first examine it better at my roofttop farm that is quieter and allowed me more time with the glasses.
I was even more impressed than I was initially, as the scene descriptions via voice and Be My Eyes volunteer were great, but:
User Experience
- Agiga added follow-up to EchoVision, so it's possible to get more specific context/details about a scene, which was a feature request I had last month and and it's live in the prototype.
- Tap with one-finger on right-side towards front of glasses to get a scene description without asking, which is what i wish Meta Ray-Bans would do. There is a good amount of context/details to scene descriptions, which is made for blind people.
- It's responsive, latency is low, voice is somewhat natural human sounding, and speech rate can be increased. I tested the speech rate at 1.5x.
- I was able to call Be My Eyes and AIRA, where I got human description of a card no deets and scene.
- Holding down with 2-fingers on right side will cancel Be My Eyes or hang-up and return to main menu, where I heard I could use Google Lookout by saying: "Hello Agiga, Lookout", which goes into explore mode reading text and identifying objects real-time. It was able to identify different objects, including stairs, plant, read text on credit/debit card, and lottery ticket.
- I tried to have Lookout identify US currency, but it wanted to read the text on the bill instead. No worries though, a quick tap on the right-side did a quick scene description, where it described I was holding a $20.
- The form factor are wrap-around sun glasses, which blocks sun for those of us with peripheral eye-sight and light sensitivity, and is more secure as it partially wraps around the back of my head and doesn't slide down my nose like Meta Ray-Bans.
- I feel it has the features and functionality of Envision AI Glasses, but even better form factor than Meta Ray-Bans. I look forward to pre-ordering on October 11!
Feature Request
- I was trying to have it describe people, but it said it couldn't describe faces, but when Huasongc tested it at home with his wife, it could. Huasongc thought Be My Ai could, so we tried it and it can, so they'll work on people descriptions.
- I also tried something no AI could do, which was ask about next bus/train departures via Transit. Agiga is going to see if TransitApp has an API.
Comments
Hopefully they will be worth it.
I genuinely didn’t like the Meta glasses at all. They just didn’t fit well. And I wasn’t getting any worthwhile description from them. Similarly be my eyes just wasn’t working well. One factor to consider is that we are transferring a lot of video through Bluetooth. And of course it’s gonna be very pixelated. I am hoping that Bluetooth 6.0 fixes that going forward. Until then, I will look forward to the echo vision glasses and there will hopefully be some positive things to report.
Looking forward to your review
If anyone is capable of giving a thorough and detailed critical review of a product, I believe it is you. Hope you don't take that as an insult, as it was not meant to be one.
Thank you I will try
I appreciate the compliment. I’m genuinely looking forward to this. It’s either gonna be amazing or it’s going to be a disaster. I’m leaning on amazing.
updated video
so apparently these are gonna be released in August. And, there’s a new video showing some people using the glasses. Some of it’s great. However, they would actually have a person ask questions of the glasses and then not show the glasses performing. i’m not sure why they did that. Still looking forward to these glasses and hoping that they can build up a little bit more momentum upon release. I know they’re a little pricey, but they seem to be worth it. As I’ve said, these will be great for me Until either Apple or Google sunglass come out. One thing I will note is that the glasses voice sound more natural then in the past. And when they are shown actually working, the description is very very detailed.

Apparently not shipping until November now
I follow these on their FaceBook group. There is a guy there who runs the Above The Fold podcast. The episode planned for today was cancelled, because the developer identified an issue with the glasses' microphone. They sent a statement that said that shipping would be delayed.
They didn't post that statement on their own FB group, and frankly, the communications on these has been quite bad throughout.
Between this, and their refusal to ship outside the US, I have made the decision, and have preoodered the Envision Solos glasses to try.
I hope these succeed, but I don't like what I'm seeing so far regarding communication and how that will translate to customer service. ,
That’s too bad
That’s too bad. Thoth these would be out by September. Unfortunately running out of patience with all of these companies. I don’t mine delays. But no communicating directly with people might be a deal breaker for me.
Hopefully sooner, rather than later
I am dying for some real world feedback on these.
Yes, I enjoy my Meta's. Quite a bit as of some of the more recent updates, but these sound fascinating. 🙂
Phone calls and music?
Hi all,
Does anyone know if these glasses will allow you to make phone calls and listen to music? I have been using my Ray Ban Metas for over a year now, and now i am finding them to be a little bit of a hassle to use. Name for ocr and getting good descriptions of things. I am eager to get out of the Meta ecosystem system. I am not pleased with Many of metas business practices and political leanings. I was always uncomfortable with the idea of having to have a social media account to use these glasses. I cancelled my facebook account a long time ago, and I plan on deleting the Instagram account I had to make to use these glasses. The Metas are cool and they are a good device , they are now more of a novelty item for me as opposed to a tool that I can rely on exclusively.
Is anyone else in the same situation or similar?
Phone Calls, Music, OCR, and detailed scene description
* Yes, EchoVision can work as a bluetooth headsets with ones smartphone for phone calls and music.
* Book reading does OCR to read what is actually seen with camera.
* Detailed scene description with discrete button press without having to talk to AI Smart glasses.
delays and failures
The issue with such companies basically is that they're focussing on too many things at one go, kind of biting off more than what they can chew: developing an interface/software/operating system/whatever that's blind-specific? doable and sensible. developing hardware specific to that (by a small company/team)? Well, is never a hundred percent success. and making it at a low cost? well, a very, very hard sell. That's probably what happened to celest, and that's what is happening here. And that's kind of where I trust the Envision model, kind of: they're collaborating with a company that's already been in the smart-glasses industry for quite sometime, and is been a direct competitor to the metas and the like. That way, the bigger problem of the hardware including the cost, is taken care of. Now, if they can provide a quality experience that's feature-rich, I believe it could work.
Envision seems to be tricking everybody
Envision seems to be tricking everybody. They’re not really giving us usable glasses. They are essentially giving us very basic glasses and most of the work is gonna be done on the app on your phone. They’re gonna be massive delays between phone and glasses because of the version of Bluetooth they’re using. They’re not even showing it an actual real life use case scenarios. What’s more disturbing? Is that when you reach out to cancel the order, they won’t even confirm it. I’ll put my faith in agiga based on the ways that they have maintained communication with everyone. They’ve been transparent throughout the entire process. They’ve maintained a higher level of integrity by delaying the glasses due to a speaker/microphone issue that they are resolving. They’ve shown these glasses in real world use scenarios. They’ve given us an alternative to Bluetooth that admittedly might affect my phone‘s battery a little, but will definitely work much better. I want them to succeed. And I’ve gotten to the point where I am completely willing to take a chance on them. I don’t think this is a matter of anything other than taking a chance. Although there have been hiccups, I like the idea of the company growing and us growing with them. Another thing that echo vision is doing is that they are giving us the opportunity to get the glasses in the tint that we want. Or at least close to it. That’s way better than envision telling us to go and do it ourselves.
It figures
Envision seems to be working with the same principle as Tim Cook, that is to say, do whatever it takes for the bottom line. So if that means building a wearable camera that connects via Bluetooth and calling it—"smart"—then so be it.
As for the EchoVision, I am definitely looking forward to hearing some real world use cases.
Some real world videos of echovision
So I’ve seen some videos on YouTube of the glasses working in real time. Namely from carry-on accessibility. Essentially they process very quickly. Moreover, the descriptions are very detailed. The more I see of these glasses, the more I like them.
Admittedly, I am frustrated that I couldn’t get my hands on the pioneer edition. The people who have them seem to love them. Unfortunately, these have been delayed into January 2026. Which is typical. I genuinely like that these can connect through Wi-Fi to essentially provide a much clearer video for Be My Eyes and Aira. However, if the user wants, they can also connect them through Bluetooth. Beyond that, the live AI seems to work pretty well.
Re: Some real world videos of echovision
January isn't that far away. 😉
Only if it actually releases in January
Only if it’s actually released in January. I’m not so sure it will be. Hopefully we’ll be pleasantly surprised.
First quarter of 2026
According to AGIGA mention first quarter of 2026 it's when will be releasing for the final edition!Same time when Google android XR glasses will be release.
So if I
@Ash
Just remember, the sooner you get them, the sooner you can provide the rest of us a review of them. 😜
Looking for an EchoVision glasses review!
Hello! I've been looking for an EchoVision review, however I haven't found it.
If anyone has information or knows where to find it, can share it.
I would love to find a review from an user who is not involved in the AGIGA team.
Thanks..
Believe it when I'll see it
Guess I'll believe it when I see it, so far, I've not been impressed with all these blindy company copycats trying to release something with flimsy hardware that does not work and half the time when they do, very poor! Also, having us have to pay more to get access to what we need. I've lost my trust with all this and I'll stick to my existing metas thank you very much. I'm sorry if I sound harsh but we've seen this time and time again with different glasses and tech products that claim to be made for us and yet do not work half the time. You do know that real world demo videos stuff can be edited as well yall realize that right? Not saying that the youtube channel in question is doing that but again, I'll believe it when I see it. Think it's time we take these companies for what they are and hold em accountable. Scam Lol. Na, just kidding but you know where I'm going with this. If a company claims that a product does what it's suppose to do but you find out that it don't do what it said on the box as well as it says then somethings gotta give here and that, my friends is false advertising. Something of which access companies love to do. I hope I'm wrong about these glasses but I ain't holding my breath.
The Meta glasses are awful though
As I’ve said repeatedly, I think the Meta glasses are awful. And I never understood why people are so steadfast in regards to using something that doesn’t work in any meaningful way. Be My Eyes doesn’t work on them in a meaningful way. People can’t see anything. The AI barely identifies anything. they don’t work in the nighttime. And on top of that, they are incredibly uncomfortable after a little time. I can’t even keep them on my face as any sweat causes them to slide down my nose. What is the attraction exactly?
It’s not like these are a promise that they haven’t lived up to. They’re out in the wild. People are using them every day. They’re not out to the public yet. And that is frustrating. But there’s three or 400 of them at any given point right now being used and you can look at how they operate in real time through YouTube.
Experiences
Every body is going to have their own perceptions and experiences, and even biases as to what they personally consider good tech over bad. I know I will never be able to, for example, convince Ash Rein how wonderful the Meta smart glasses are (for me). And I am not even trying to. They have obviously had a really unpleasant experience using them, and have decided the Meta glasses are not for them.
That is fair and understandable.
However, the Meta glasses have been amazing for me, and thus I will continue to use, and enjoy them. I get so much done with this device that I wonder how I ever lived without it. Again, my experiences have colored my perception and bias towards the Meta glasses in a positive way.
I won't list everything I have been able to do successfully with my Meta glasses because this rant would just go on, and on, and on... I will reiterate that I am happy with my pair and get quite a lot of independence out of using them. 🤷
Thanks for reading. 😎
Meta Glasses
Just work. At least 70% of the time. That's much higher than what any of these blindness-specific companies have been able to demonstrate so far. They do that at half the price of any blindness-specific product of a similar nature that has been offered so far. 2 good enough reasons to convince me. I'll leave it at that.
70% is not enough
Under no circumstance would anyone use anything that only works 70% of the time. It’s like saying you have a car that works 70% of the time or an oven that works 70% of the time. or you’re willing to fly ona plane that works 70% of the time. All Meta classes are is marketing. They’ve only sold a couple of million pairs over the past f
Few years. And I think people spend more time trying to convince themselves and others that their purchase was worthwhile, than facing the objective truth. By all means use what you will. Enjoy it. But this is never going to be about convincing me of something. And I’m not trying to convince anyone else of anything.
It’s simply stating that I have seen multiple videos of the echo vision glasses working. A lot of of the worries that we have had have been directly addressed. The delays are very minimized, the overall descriptions are excellent, and from what people are saying, they are very comfortable.
Starting to feel a bit of FOMO about these Echovision glasses
Subject line mostly says it all. I've got the Ally Solos glasses, and, perhaps rather foolishly, got some Gen 2 Meta glasses because I was able to get them with extremely low monthly payments, and even though I wasn't keen on them the first time around, they were still able to do more than the Ally glasses are currently capable of, which, as Ash has pointed out, isn't exactly a ringing endorsement.
Now, I'm starting to think I should have skipped them both and held out for these Echovision glasses. I haven't heard as much about them as a lot of you seem to have, though, and delivery dates being delayed kind-a makes me think of Glideance. When the Echovision glasses are officially reality, I will certainly look forward to hearing demos, and if they somehow ever have a reasonable payment plan or something, maybe I'll add them to my collection, although I feel as though having 3 pairs of smart glasses would be more than a little ridiculous.
In the end, we will be using Apple glasses
No matter what comes out, in the end, we will all probably be using Apple glasses; or even the android glasses when they come out. Ally, echo vision, meta are just stepping stones. They are just something to tide us over until the real things we want are released.
Apple Glasses probably would be ideal
I think you're absolutely right, Ash. Given that I've already spent way more than I ever wanted to on smart glasses, I'll probably try to resist the Echovision temptation and make do with what I already have until Apple releases smart glasses. Hopefully, they'll be much more affordable than that Applevision pro thing; I had 0 temptation to even think about that. I'm sure Google glasses will be seriiously awesome too, but since I'm exclusively in the apple ecosystem, waiting to find out what they come up with would probably be my best move.
Re: In the end, we will be using Apple glasses
This... I actually believe. Absolutely.
Convincing folks of stuff
I don't think anyone here's secretly meta's sales agents pretending as blind guys just to convince Ash Rain of the value of the Meta Glasses. I mean, noone of us is that important in the larger scheme of things. This feels more like Ash Rain trying to convince themselves and others (HARD) that what they've been saying is the only truth no matter what the majority of the user group feels, as if they're the only custodian of the absolute truth around here. Even that would've been tolerable if they would have not been bating specific individuals (in different ways) to respond to then. Well, personally, this is an interesting exercise though it does constitute a pointless loss of time...
@Ash Rain: "It’s simply stating that I have seen multiple videos of the echo vision glasses working. A lot of of the worries that we have had have been directly addressed. The delays are very minimized, the overall descriptions are excellent, and from what people are saying, they are very comfortable." I imagine this is all based out of what Tom told Harry who told Shawn who probably told you and not from your own personal experience? How do you justify making such sweaping claims about a product that you haven't used yourself based purely on some youtube videos which could always have been editted? What gives you the authority to try to convince/misguide people about a product that you haven't even tried out? Yet, when people who used a product give their personal opinion, for you that's not objective. If that's not hypocritical, someone tell me what around here is? I have nothing against the Echo Vision Glasses and I really hope they will deliver; but I don't understand the logic wherein someone is absolutely blasting not only a product that's been around for about 2 years in the market and has been a possitive experience for most of the users (within the community), but also is on a crusade against anyone who is saying a good thing about it is able to convince themselves of the absolute efficacy of a product that they themselves have not used, much less is out in the market. Seems borderline suspicious if you ask me. "A lot of of the worries that we have had have been directly addressed". If I remember correctly, some of the worries that you have had about the Meta glasses included "It doesn’t describe things well. It gets a lot of things wrong. It isn’t reliable... It also doesn’t work in darker environments like nighttime... it is rudimentary at best... it’s a pair of heavy uncomfortable glasses... I don’t like people hearing anything that I’m doing..." then something about "some illusion loop"... Given that you haven't used the Echo Vision glasses, on what objective basis are you trying to convince people that the glasses have been able to tackle all these problems? Much less, how have you convinced yourself? I remember you saying the meta glasses are a "cash grab" thing and that privacy is an ellusion with the device. What proof do you have that any other glass is any different?
Let me give another instance, around the same conversation, of you being absolutely hypocritical, logically flawed, biased and non-objective, all traits which you keep accusing other people of: in another conversation on the Meta Glasses themselves, I remember you chiding the folks who pre-ordered Glide, apparently because they did not listen to you and pre-ordered it and now it is getting delayed. And yet, you are right now convinced of a product that has had multiple delays already and about the timeline of which there is no clear indication.
And btw, on any sain day, I would vouch for a product that works 70% of the time over one that still exists in youtube videos, and anyone who does otherwise, like I said, seems borderline suspicious to me.
A final word: if anyone from Echovision Agiga is reading this, please understand that I have nothing against you guys. Like I said, I really hope that your glasses are able to deliver what has been promissed. I am following your product from the start, and am interested in them as I have been in any other product with the potential to solve the problems of the community. I am here just trying to address the biased way in which certain arguments have been put forth. So please don't take offence on that account.
