I honestly don't know how long this has been an issue for me, at least a year but I think much longer. For awhile I assumed this was happening to everyone but now I'm curious if it's just me or not.
iOS and iPadOS
Hi. I'm using IOS 12, on my IPhone 6S+. When composing text messages, using Touch Typing mode, I hear the letter that my finger is on, but, when I lift my finger to insert the letter, Voiceover repeats the letter concerned. Is there a setting, whereby I can turn this off, in order to increase my productivity when texting? I hear the key click and that would be enough for me to know that the letter has been inserted. If this is possible, what settinghs do I need to change and where?
Hi,
How do you configure the synthesizer for a secondary language when Detect Languages is on? Currently I use Alex for English and when VoiceOver detects Spanish it switches to a female voice. I installed Siri Male Spanish and put it in the rotor instead, but cannot get VoiceOver's auto-switching to use it. What am I missing? Thanks.
Hello there. For a while now I have noticed that if I turn the VoiceOver voice down to 1 percent, some voices will go silent and others will still speak, but very quietly. For instance, if I have the VoiceOver volume at 1 and I use Samantha, the speech is muted. But if I'm using Alex and it's at volume 1, I can still hear him at the quietest level. Why is this happening and how can I recover speech, rather than trying to go into VoiceOver settings without knowing where I'm at? Thanks.
Does anyone else experience the issue where the VoiceOver volume dips if the phone is left idle, even for a short time? The initial output of speech is quieter and the volume rises back to the set level as the speech continues. It’s as if it autoducks after a while if the phone is doing nothing, locked or unlocked.
iOS 17, iPhone15.
The voiceover volume in iOS 18 can now be raised over 100%. I tried doing this in hopes that it would help with the longstanding issue of struggling to hear VO speach while on a call. It did seem to help with this, but I also noticed that VO now basically screams whenever I have an incomming call or notification. Is there any way to correct this? I had previously had VO volume set to about 60% in the rotor so that it didn't scream out my incomming caller ID.
It's been a while since I've heard about this bug so I wanted to revisit it since it's starting to really annoy me.
Anyone still having issues where voiceovers volume is still not restoring properly with audio ducking? Mine is slow to restore. I have an iPhone 8 running the lates version of ios 13.
Hello! I have problem with Voiceover on 5S. I can not up volume it just gos to 35 persent. Any suggestions?
Hello to all members using an iPhone 15 Pro Max running the latest version of iOS. I’ve been noticing that voice over is being louder than usual, it feels like it’s gonna break the speaker. I’ve been using different voices such as Tom read Alex and Samantha is anyone Else noticing this unexpected behavior? Thanks a lot for your help
Hi. Using IOS8 on an iPhone 5S. I have selected the Alex voice and managed to tget it speaking, however, volume randomly decreases when I am using my device. I have volume in the rotor and it is at 100% I increase the volume again, with the bottuns on the side of the phone, but it subsequently decreases again shortly afterwards. Has anyone experienced this and, if so, are there any recommended workarounds?
More of an annoying issue than a problematic one but since updating to IOS13.5 it's very clear that the rota setting for the Voiceover volume does not alter the Voiceover volume. The only way I can alter the Voiceover volume is by aaltering the system volume, which is obviously possible but not ideal. has anyone else experienced this bug? has anyone found a work-around? I'm using the new iPhone SE 2020 and running the latest IOS. also using UK Siri female voice although I have tried with other voices and the results are identical.
Hi. On reading about the new 3D Touch facilities, on the new iPhone 6S/6S+, I was wondering how Voiceover will work with this? Assuming that nothing was outlined at the launch event on this topic, does anyone have further information at the current time, or do we need to await Applevis members getting their hands on the new devices and testing out the new features, from a Voiceover Perspective? I am due to renew my contract in October and am trying to work out whether to go with the 6S+ or the currently available 6+.
Hi all, im after a little help on how to get voiceover to work on a interactive presentation that i created In keynote and want to export to either goodnotes or another app. So far i have trialed it in goodnote but for example the interactive linked shapes or writing will not work with voiceover.
So is there a way around this or another app that will work?
I have been working with somebody who needs voice control to control the iPhone and iPad but also needs voiceover to navigate. iOS 12 no issues. iOS 13 the commands changed to specific voiceover commands but was still functional albeit wordy. iOS 14 I can’t get it to recognise any of the voiceover commands at all so they are unable to navigate as a they can’t see the screen to use show names etc.
Hi,
I just got my new iPhone 8 last Wednesday as a birthday present as well as a new protective case that basically covers the entire screen. I noticed, while using my new iPhone 8, that VoiceOver won't inform me of new notifications when I have my iPhone display off. I tried turning on always speak notifications and this doesn't make any difference.
This might be a dumb question but it stirred my curiosity. I looked all over the internet and I even went through all the guides about voiceover but I couldn't seem to find it. I listen to voiceover at 100 percent. I was wondering if anyone knew the words per minute of voiceover at 100 percent setting?
Thank you in advance
