In situations where action in one app results in a second app being opened - such as when double-tapping on a link in the Mail app will cause the webpage to open in Safari - it may not be possible to locate by touch the Status Bar afterwards.

This appears to be a device-specific issue.

It is consistently reproducible on an iPhone XS Max, but does not occur on an iPhone SE or a 2019 iPad Air.

When navigating the playback controls on either the Lock Screen or Notification Center, VoiceOver does not recognise or speak the total duration time which is visually present on screen below the timeline slider/scrubber; speaking only the current position of whatever audio you are playing.

Place VoiceOver focus on an element on the lock screen, for example the time.
Swipe right repeatedly to cycle through the elements, such as the date, the flashlight button, the camera button and any notifications that are on screen.
You will encounter the elements of the status bar, such as wifi and battery level, even though you have not moved focus to the status bar.

Add the Weather widget to any screen.
When reading a temperature, VoiceOver speaks the word “degrees” twice. For example, “6 degrees degrees Celsius”.

When on the Now Playing screen in the native Music app and navigating by flicking, VoiceOver navigation and feedback will suggest that UI elements from the screen you were on before activating the Now Playing screen are still present on screen. This makes for a very confusing and misleading user experience, as these ‘ghost’ elements are not visually present on screen and cannot be activated, despite what VoiceOver suggests.

On the Power Off / Medical ID / Emergency Call screen, VoiceOver finds and speaks erroneous UI elements such as the word “Call” and the phrase “location.fill.radiowaves.left.and.right iPhone Findable After Power Off Forward” if invoked when you have an open app in the foreground.

On the Weather app's small widget, the graphic that visually indicates to sighted users the current weather conditions is not recognised or announced by VoiceOver.

On the Weather app's small widget, the high and low temperature information is spoken twice by VoiceOver. What's announced will be something similar to: “Check The Weather Widget LocationName, ,, 18°, , High of 19°, Low of 12°, High of 19°, Low of 12°.

The new predictive text feature in iOS 17 provides recommended words inline as you type using the onscreen keyboard. There are verbosity settings that allow VoiceOver users to control what happens when predictive text appears and when predictive text feedback is entered.

The Globe key, or FN on some keyboards, is now used as a modifier key. Pressing it while VoiceOver is disabled brings up a list of available keyboard commands. With VoiceOver enabled, it only briefly pops up and disappears again.

Pressing the command to toggle the onscreen keyboard does not work as expected.

When speaking text that includes the "ÂŁ" symbol, VoiceOver speaks this in the form of "Pound Sign 10" rather than "10 Pounds"(note that this is the symbol for the UK currency).

If you paste text into the Search field of the App Store, the Search button itself will not become active until you have used the onscreen keyboard to make some further change to the text in the search field (such as simply adding a space).

When you attach a file to a new email, VoiceOver does not provide any feedback as to where the file is in the message as you review the text using rotor navigation. Touching the "body" field will speak the attachment name, but only after reading the entire content of the body. You can, however, locate the attached file by touch if you first touch outside of the body field and then slide your finger around the screen.

Users of the Freedom Scientific Focus line of braille displays may experience issues pairing their display with devices running iOS 10.2.

The information we have available to us suggests that this issue primarily affects users who attempt to re-pair a Focus display which has previously been un-paired from the same iOS device, although in our testing it was also impossible to pair a Focus display for the first time when running iOS 10.2.

It is our understanding that Focus displays paired before updating to iOS 10.2 should continue to work correctly.

There are multiple issues when attempting to read a PDF file with VoiceOver. These issues are sporadic in nature; problems identified include:

When using the Smart Beetle display from HIMS, while the display is supported, key mapping is not done correctly. For example, pressing f4 takes you to the home screen, which is supposed to be the function of f2. Pressing f2 will activate the eject key, which is supposed to be the function of f4. This can be verified by pressing space with K to launch VoiceOver help and pressing the keys as described above.

When using 24-hour time format, VoiceOver does not read all time indicators when viewing hourly weather forecasts in the native Weather app.

In the News app that’s new in iOS 9, the suggested channels and topics on the ‘Explore’ tab are displayed in horizontal scrolling bars. When you flick up/down on the screen element that allows you to scroll through this, you will need to locate the scroll bar by touch to see the suggestions which have just scrolled into display. If you swipe into this bar, you will go to either the first suggestion on the first page or the last suggestion on the last page.
