When attempting to locate the iOS Status Bar by touch, the ‘target’ area in iOS 13 appears to be much smaller than it has been in previous iOS versions. This is most noticeable when on the Home screen.

The time picker used when creating or editing a scheduled Screen time downtime or app limit is not accessible with VoiceOver.

Specifically, if you navigate to Settings > Screen Time > Downtime and enable “Scheduled”, the picker used to set the start and end times is not accessible. Likewise for the picker when creating or editing an app limit.

When first navigating to the Search tab of the TV app, a grid of icons is displayed that offers a number of suggested categories, movies, and shows. Typically, VoiceOver will only speak the correct name of a small number of these, with the remainder either announced as unlabelled buttons or given a name that's possibly based upon the file name of the icon or the results of VoiceOver's image recognition feature.

The UI control that's present on the Lock Screen when a Focus mode is enabled foes not work as expected when using VoiceOver.

Specifically, turn on a Focus mode and then go to the Lock Screen.

At the bottom centre of the screen is a button that should give access to a dialog where you can disable the Focus Mode.

On some occasions this control can only be located by touch.

On some occasions it has the label “attachment.png, file, Do Not Disturb”.

On some occasions it has the expected label.

If you have Invert Colors enabled system-wide and VoiceOver enabled, you are likely to find that the App Switcher cannot be activated.

If you use per-app settings to enable Invert Colors for specific apps, you will likely find that the App Switcher will stop working when you open one of these apps.

The VoiceOver cursor gives a visual presentation of the location of VoiceOver focus. It typically does this by placing a solid border around the element - be that a button, a menu item, a block of text, etc.

Very occasionally, this cursor will either disappear completely or become very large (even larger than when you have the large cursor option enabled in Settings).

The VoiceOver rotor no longer consistently switches to the 'Actions' rotor item when VoiceOver focus lands on an element which has actions available.

This behavior can typically be seen on a number of lists and elements across iOS; when handling notifications; and in various other instances.

On occasions, the volume of VoiceOver sound effects and other system sounds can be significantly louder than that of VoiceOver speech, including when using headphones. This issue most frequently presents itself with the following combination of settings:

If you have one or more cards added to the Wallet app, the app will crash and return you to the Home Screen if you attempt to use the swipe gesture to move VoiceOver focus through the area of the app's main screen where they are listed.

You can press and hold the Command key or the Globe key + M to bring up a window displaying all of the currently available keyboard commands. This window is arranged into columns, with headings such as System and Multitasking. While VoiceOver does read all elements in the window, it does not follow this column or table structure and the buttons don’t have a clear affect.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Open the native Music app and start playing an album or playlist.
  2. Double-tap on the screen element to open the Mini Player.
  3. Place VoiceOver focus on any track listed in the ‘Up Next’ list.
  4. Flick up or down with 1 finger until VoiceOver says “Delete”.
  5. Double tap with 1 finger.

At this point you would expect the selected track to be deleted from the list. It is not. Nothing happens.

The “Adjust Value” VoiceOver rotor menu item does not work on the Lock Screen audio scrubber. Specifically, when the Now Playing widget is on the Lock Screen, VoiceOver will indicate that you can swipe up or down with 1-finger on the position scrubber to adjust the position. However, this does nothing. You can perform a 1-finger tap and hold, followed by a ‘drag’ to the left or right to move position, but this does not allow for accurate or small changes to the position.

To reproduce this behaviour you will need to have several notifications on the Notifications Center - enough that there will be a “Clear All” button available on the heading just above older notifications.

When on the Lock Screen or Cover Sheet (formerly the Notifications Centre), flicking up or down with 1 finger on the “page x of 3” control no longer moves you between pages. The control itself will change (for example, from “page 2 of 3” to “page 1 of 3”, etc.), but the page itself does not change.

There are no braille display commands, and no options for assigning these commands with a braille display: Quick Settings, moving in and out of grouped navigation, or locking the screen

If not using VoiceOver, it is possible to dismiss an activity from the Dynamic island by swiping left or right across the Dynamic Island. This does not close any related background activity. For example, if you are playing audio and you dismiss the audio waveform and artwork in the Dynamic Island, the music will continue to play in the background. The same goes for when you dismiss a timer – it will still count down in the background even though it is no longer visible on the screen.

When using the Group message facility, the button to add a title to the conversation is not detected by VoiceOver.

With a braille display, pressing space with Q is supposed to turn Quick Nav on and off. however, it always reports that Quick Nav is turned off when pressing this command. Also, pressing the letter that corresponds with the navigation command does nothing. This was first found in iOS 8.0, when the feature was introduced.

The VoiceOver keyboard shortcut to move focus to the Status Bar does not work when on the Home screen. It works when in an app, but you are unable to then use the keyboard to move focus through all items on the Status Bar.

It is not possible to edit existing alarms in the native Clock app when VoiceOver is enabled.
