Apple Hardware and Compatible Accessories

Hi guys,

I am in the market for a new laptop--a MacBook in particular. I am wanting to use it mainly to run Windows 7 Home Premium in Boot Camp, so I can go back and forth and eventually get to using OS X more. I have JAWS 14, Microsoft Office, Sound Forge, and a few other programs here and there that I want to run. I have a large audio recording and music database, some of which can be transferred onto external storage if necessary.

Hello, I have a 2013 MacBook Air running Windows 7 via Boot Camp. My unit has an i7 processor, 8Gb of ram, and 512Gb of SSD space. For the last two months, I’ve been experiencing issues connecting to my home AT&T U-Verse WiFi network. I have a 25 MBps internet connection, but the connection is slow: webpages take a little while to load, downloads stall out or take a long time, and every so often the connection just drops. Every other device in the house works wonderfully with no issues whatsoever.

I had used pc computer with screen reader Jaws during all my life, and will in these days buy a new laptop, but I'm confused and wondering something.
Will I continuely use pc with Jaws cuz of I can that commands and have good experience and buy a Asus Ultrabook by screen reader Jaws or drive a Macbook Air with VO? There's a great difference between this models. I haven't had any problem with Jaws for pc but Macbook Air will work 100% great also is it true? What's your opponion and have you some tips?

Hi all
Anyone using a keyboard protector on their MacBook or even desktop Apple keyboard?

If so, which brand and how are you finding it? Is tactile feedback still fine, can you feel the keys under your fingers etc?

I'm considering getting one for the MacBook Pro I'll be buying. My keyboards usually get very durty, up to now with my PC's and iMac I always used cheap USB Logitec keyboards, then I just replace them around twice per year when they eventually get too durty to clean properly.

I just got my first Macbook Pro today. I had to take it to Geek Squad over at Best Buy because we don’t have an Apple store in my town. They were able to get VO started and show me some basic things on the machine.

When I got it home today, I charged the battery and took a nap.

Just a few minutes ago, I was in the Quick help guide, and everything was going fine. I sat the computer down to go do something, and when I returned, my Macbook just quit on me for some reason.

I don’t think it is even turning on, but I can’t tell.

Hello. I just had a couple of quick questions about how the new touch bar and number keys work in Windows when using Bootcamp.

Has anyone used Windows via Bootcamp with the new touch bar Mac?
I'm guessing you have to do some guessing to find the right F key because there's no tactile indication.

What do you use the Touch Bar for? Do you enjoy it? Do you find it useful?

hey all
i intend to buy a macbook nearly
i have a question about something i noticed when i went to the store and tried both macbook air and pro with retina display
when i turned the VO on in both macbooks, i realized that the macbook pro's speaker is quite higher than the macbook air
note: i just tried voiceover not any other application
so if that right? or it's just an illusive feeling
i have another simple question for mac users
if i have a large amount of docx files, will they work properly via pages?

From MacDailyNews:

Apple has been working on its next-gen of the iPhone SE, and a recent Bloomberg News report revealed that it should launch sometime next year. 9to5Mac sources, who offered precise details about the iPhone 16 in advance, have now spilled the beans about what to expect from the iPhone SE 4.

Hello,

Anyone else out there using MacID with a BT LE, also known as BT 4.x headset? For those not familiar, MacID allows you to use your iPhone or Apple watch or Pebble watch to unlock your Mac or enter the system password whenever the system asks for it. The app for the IOS as well as for the OSX is accessable so kudos to the developer for that.

Hello,

Anyone out there using a pair of made for iPhone hearing aids with an Apple watch?

I am able to pair a pair of BT headset with the watch and VO is routed correctly. But I can’t seem to figure out how to route VO to the Has. Is this even possible?

I have a pair of Starky Halos and have the Trulink app installed on my watch.

Thanks.

Hello all. I’m sure many of you know that Apple released a new keyboard case for the iPad Air Four and the iPad Pro third and fourth generations. I recently bought it about a month ago and i have had some issues with it when using VoiceOver. First, whenever i try using the shift, control, and other keys on the keyboard, it sends me to the status bar and i have to use the screen to get me out of it. If I try and use the control option and command keys + the right and left arrow keys to ove the Roder, it again sends the VoiceOver cursor to the status bar.

Hi all. I just purchased a Magic Trackpad for my Mac Mini. I really love it. but, I have an interesting question. Is it possible to not only assign new preconfigured VO jestures to the Trackpad, but, can you actually make your own commands. like for example, I'd like to be able to swipe up and dow with 2 fingers only on the left side of the pad to change the volume. Up with 2 fingers to turn it up and down with 2 fingers to turn it down. and maybe try to do some other things. What do you guys think? If anyone has anything on the subject, please let me know in a comment below.

I am a low vision user that depends on CC-TVs, but many of the magnification apps are getting good enough to think about switching to use the ipad. All I really need is a stand that allows me to move paper material below the camera and that perhaps tilts the ipad a bit. I know there is a stand for OCR apps, but what about when you are using magnification apps? If there is a great stand out there, this combination would really improve my situation. Thanks for any information.

I just bought a MagSafe wireless charger. Please excuse my silly question! I plugged the charger in to charge itself. After a couple of hours, unplugged it and put my phone on it. Charging did not start. So my question, to use this thing, do you keep it plugged in and just place the phone on it for a charge? I thought this was something like a power bank that you can carry and use where ever. Thanks all!
