I am a Mac newly. Everything I read says to use command--w to close a window. On my Sierra Mac it reads a word and spells it when hit twice. Nice! But how do I close a window or an app?

In the user guide for my Iphone I read that I can change settings for how Voiceover shall do with pictures. One option is to navigate only pictures wich are described, but how shall I do to describe pictures before I sync them to my iphone? I have some pictures I want a description on so I know what it is.

Hey guys
When my friends go live, I used to be able to comment, but now I can't. Instead, every time I try, I keep getting a popup about casting to a tv, and even when I hit the close button, seconds later it pops up again. Any ideas to get around this? If not, I hope this gets fixed. It's anoying not being able to comment while the video is going on

Hope this belongs here. My dad recently purchased an iPhone 4S and I'm helping him get it going. Anyway, when using either the Facebook mobile site or the actual Facebook app, most things work fine. However, neither one of us can find a way to comment on a status on which nobody has liked or commented. If at least one person has liked or commented, we can follow that link and comment, but if there are no comments or likes, there's no link there. Any thoughts? Thanks!

I am trying to comment on YouTube. I write the comment and hit post buttion. Then it says post dimmed. Am I missing something? I am using an iPhone 7 with latest version of IOS with VoiceOver and braille display.

I am sure this is totally related to the YouTube application on IOS but wanted to confirm from fellow members of applevis before I raise the flag with Google accessibility, which as for now according to me are sleeping over many accessibility bugs with their applications.

Hello:

I have been an avid Applevis reader for years and have learned so much from many of the posters here. I do so appreciate that ApplVis is here for us all to learn more about Apple and our devices.

I installed IOS 10 on Wednesday and have been experimenting with varius aspects since then. I have some comments and some questions.

In general, I like the update! I am seeing few major bugs.

A friend of mine has had trouble with her hands and does extensive word processing. She has always used Jaws but is going to buy a new computer, she wants to dictate her word processing, but needs advice from people who have used both Jaws with Jay-say vs Apple device dictation. Any thoughts? Anyone used dictation with the pages app?

Hello,

I am going to share my small experiment comparing FineScanner Pro, knfbReader and TextGrabber, as I currently consider these iOS apps the best choices depending on what you mostly want to use text recognition for. Because OCR apps differ in price greatly, this comparison might help you to make the right choice for you.

With increased travel eminent, I looked for a comparison of the Seeing Eye app and BlindSquare. i couldn't find one any newer than about three years ago.

I'm wondering if there are folks on this list who have used both apps recently. If so, can you give me some information as to how the two compare?

I am a little in awe with the cost for the Seeing Eye app, but I know the reasons behind it. I'm just wondering if it is worth the increased monetary outlay. I know I'm the only one who can make that decision, but any comparison info would be helpful.

Hi, is anybody aware of any good talking compass apps. I am not looking for one that is like a GPS. Am just looking for an app that can tell me which direction I am facing .

Hello.
First, and this is very important, I ONLY have my iPad with scrivener.
I have finished a book and need to send it to someone and I wonder if there is a way to make my project into a pdf or something.

When I upgraded to IOS 10.2, everything in my iCloud library (including cd downloads) was there. Now, all that is left is all of my purchased stuff and very little of my cd downloads. I can't resync being I dcon't have a computer to do so. Now, I'll have to buy the stuff off of iTunes. Good thing I have my wish list. Although, some of the cd stuff is no longer on iTunes. It's going to take me a while to rebuild my music library. Unless Apple has a way to getr the stuff back without having ot resync. I merged my library with my iCloud library.

Hi

Happy holidays to you all. As of today, I'm the porud new owner of an iPad Mini, and I'm having some trouble with dictation. I'm able to start the process with no issue, and speak the text I wish to be written, but I'm not sure how to indicate to the iPad that I've finished dictating. I'm currently having to return to the home screen and reopen the app, and although this works, and the text is entered, it's awkward and annoying. Can anyone help me work out a way of finishing dictation?

Hi all,

I'm not sure if I'm missing something here, but I'm having major issues with the native Mail app and others don't seem to be talking about these issues much from what I have seen. I'm using an iPhone 13 Pro running iOS 17.4.1, which at the time of writing is the latest public release of iOS 17.

Hi.

I'm looking for an accessible way to compress video I've recorded on my iPhone. I've just recorded a video that is over 30 minutes long for a video podcast I produce. I am now uploading it to YouTube and am not even sure if it will "fit" as it is over 3 GB.

Is there a way to compress videos straight from the iPhone either natively or via an accessible app? If the latter is the case, what app(s) would you recommend for this? (I'm really not looking for anything else but to compress video, no other bells-and-whistles, if I can avoid it.)

Hi everyone,
I finally manaaged to update my iTouch 5th gen. I got stuck at 83%. I tried a couple of times, but had no success. What finally worked was closing the settings out of the app switcher, then completely shutting down the iTouch. I then turned on the iTouch, and when the iTouch was all booted up I went back and tried the update over the air, it worked fine. So just another suggestion for doing the over the air update, if you get stuck turn off the iTouch and reboot it, then try again.

Hi. I wrote a similar thing yesterday, but I figured I would make it a bit more visible by writing a separate forum post about this. A few days ago, a Roger update was released that consumed a lot of battery on people's iPhones. Luckily, yesterday the 2nd an update was released that fixed that issue, so that's the great part. My concern is that the Roger team has been acting in ways that I'm not sure I like, and I'm hoping they'll see this and lift the cone of silence if you will, and respond directly.

The situation with the Flicktype developer reminds me of what we recently went through with how Apple was dealing with Blindfold Games. The developer's message about this can be found at the below link. I believe this may require some polite but firm advocacy on the part of Flicktype users who value this useful and unique app. https://flicktype.groups.io/g/hello/topic/upcoming_pricing_changes/28272182
