Hello,
After a long time I finally managed to isolate the cases when Siri and other voice interaction apps stop working. It seems to happen when the device is connected to a 5 GHZ wi-fi network.
It happened on mine, at least; when I connected my iPhone 6 plus or my mother's 4s to the airport express, there was no way to talk to siri or to dictate text or to leave a voice iMessage, whatsapp voice notes, facebook messenger and so on.
Thanks to a close friend we performed several tests and finally found a temporary work around.
iOS and iPadOS
I'm currently on an iPhone 11 running iOS 14.2. What I thought was a server-side error turns out to be local. If I call up Siri with my voice, everything works as expected. Siri gives voice feedback, and all is well. If I call her up by long pressing the side button, there is no voice feedback at all. Similarly, if I activate the listen button after bringing up Siri, she won't reply with her voice. She functions properly, but she simply doesn't talk. It doesn't matter how I first called her up.
I updated to IOS 10.02 last week and have had some issues. So, yesterday I backed up my phone and did a factory restore on it. Once it had been wiped, i then restored the previous backup to it but since then, i can only get the siri female UK voice in the standard form. Any clues?
I'm introducing someone with an iPhone 6 to VoiceOver and to Siri. We've set up the triple-click Home shortcut to turn VoiceOver on and off. I also wanted her to be able to use Siri to turn VoiceOver on and off for times when she found it difficult to perform the triple click of the Home button. But when we instruct Siri to turn VoiceOver on or off, Siri reports that it has turned VoiceOver on or off, but hasn't actually done the job. The status of VoiceOver remains unchanged.
hey guys
For those updating to 14.1, you might notice a behavior where you no longer get siri feedback after giving her a command Heres how to fix it
Go to siri settings and siri responses. By default when updating this gets set to when silent mode is off. Simply change this to always and you will have feedback again
I'm using an iphone 8. I hope this helps someone that experienced this and wondered what was going on
Hello, I apologize if this question has been asked before. I could not find the answer hence my post. Could someone kindly tell me simply if there is a way to access the Siri female voice within the voice dream reader application for text to speech feedback.
Siri has lost its mind and has lost the plot in iOS 16
I can ask it something like
NRL Raiders player suffers mid game seizure.
Siri would sayI’m sorry, I didn’t quite catch that. Could you please say that again?
Long time lurker, first time poster. My wife is legally blind and has tactile disabilities the prevent her from using a keyboard, or touch screen with any accuracy. She's successfully used an iPod Classic for years with velcro on the action buttons which has allowed her to use it to listen to audiobooks which she thrives on.
Over the last couple of major iOS updates, Siri seems to be losing its ability to do anything. I have noticed that it is now impossible to add something to the shopping list in notes using Siri. Since updating to iOS 16 it is now unable to recognise this song. If I heard a song I ask Siri to name this song or what is this song? In the past it’s done it with no difficulty. it seems to mishear more frequently than it used to. It’s not only me but other members of the family as well.
Hello everybody. Haven’t found anything worth it in iOS 14 build the only thing that may interest me is if Siri is improved. How is your experience? Apple claims it’s much much better but I’m not sure if it’s only marketing hype. Let me know your thoughts. Thank you very much and have a great day.
Hi guys, this is not really VoiceOver related, so I hope not to be too much off topic.
Here in Italy we are noticing that Siri in iOS 16 is behaving a bit worse as compared to previous versions, for example when asking to call a person it could say something like: "I don't understand who you're refferring to", or: "What do you want to know about this person?"; in other cases the answers are not always what we expect. Could you tell me your experience about that in America or wherever you live?
Bye!

To anyone else running iOS 8.2: Have you noticed that the US English female voice of Siri still sounds flat/robotic/monotone in 8.2 just like it did in 8.1.3? I am convinced something was changed and am not happy about it because to me, Siri has lost its expressiveness. This started in 8.1.3. I have tested the other voices, and they aren't affected. I have read that Siri is getting improved in the upcoming 8.3 update. Can anyone confirm if Siri sounds any better in the 8.3 betas? Thanks,
Josh
Itwas workin jut fne when I was in beta mode, but once I gotout of beta, ad started using the actual updates, Siri stopped announcing notificatons. I do have it set to announce over speaker, and I have apps set to go through to Siri, however, I'm hearing no announcements going through. I trned announcements on through accessibility settings.
when i want to set a new calendar event, i can say "new appointment", "new event", "set calendar", etc, cool. but siri wants to decide where it goes based on the context.
for example if i say new appointment then hair cut at 3pm tomorrow, siri will set it up in my calendar; but if i say new appointment then call my hair stylist at 11:30am, siri insists on setting it up as a reminder...the problem is i want it to be on my calendar, not reminder! is there something better to say so that siri won't second guess me?
Hey guys, does anyone else have this issue? Every time I say hey Siri and tell it what I wanted to do, it waits then says one sec, then it says, still working or something like that, then says sorry, something went wrong. but my Internet connection is working fine because I've checked with all my other devices. I do have a little bit of lag but It isn't enough to hinder my connection in any way. I have noticed that I can dictate perfectly fine, but when I actually try to talk to Siri, it does this.
Hello
After updating to iOS 14 and 14.1 I have noticed that the sound Siri makes to indicate it is listening no longer plays I have some vision so I’m able to see that the Siri icon has come up on screen.
I speak my request and notice the sound that Siri has stopped listening plays.
My mum is totally blind and mainly accesses her phone through Siri (she has voiceover on but can’t really double tap so everything is done through Siri) not having the beep to indicate Siri is listening is going to cause her real problems.
