I have been reading the numerous posts regarding birding apps but wanted to get recommendations from other users. I thought that the Birding by Ear system was available as an app for iOS; but I couldn't find it. I have the Peterson Field Guide for Birds of North America, which contains the name of the birds and then their songs. That's what I had in mind for an app, nothing too difficult or with a lot of useless features to a totally blind person. I mainly would like to refresh my memory on all of the bird songs. I am using an iPhone 5 with the latest update.

I haven't used this app yet, been looking for a good Bluetooth mic (as per my post in the Hardware forum, no responses yet) to use on the iPhone with the app.
Has anyone used the BirdNet app? I do also want to catch (record) some local birds and share them with a sighted friend for fun. Is Voice Memos ideal for this? Or would another app be better suited for recording bird songs?

I need an app (other than the native Calendar app) where I can add several birthdays. Extra benefits if there's a countdown but not fully necessary. More just need an app for several birthdays.

Hey all!
I think Facebook moved birthday again. At least I think they moved the today's birthdays again at least. I can see upcoming birthdays when I go to the hosting tab in the events section, but today's birthdays are nowhere to be seen.
And I know I have birthdays today because I went looking for today's birthdays for yesterday & thaj was when I discovered that today's birthdays were moved, but I seen I had birthdays for today in my upcoming birthdays. Sorry if that makes no sense.

I’m having an odd issue when copying and pasting in iOS using voice-over.
The issue is that when I select some text to be copied, and then choose the copy function from the action rotor, voice-over will read out previous text that I have copied in the past, however when I then paste it, it reverts back to the current text.
I’m just wondering if anyone else has had this problem.

Siri is great if you are sighted - but setting up Siri so it can recognize a blind user has been difficult - asking the blind person to say the phrases, just gets siri to recognize the helpers' voice - If anyone has any ideas on how best to mute siri duing the process for getting something like this done- please let me know - there is a blind person wanting very much to use his phone for calling out - its been set for auto answer and speaker for an incoming call

I am a guitarist who over the years has used the common Logic and Reaper DAWs, but today I would like to have a more immediate system for recording a song without turning on and configuring a thousand parameters of the DAW every time, also because I don't use these software all the time. days I don't remember by heart all the key combinations for example for reaper, so when I get desperate to record a song, the difficulty of remembering everything makes me not want to record.

Hello, I am wondering if there are any guides or tutorials to help with blind people using the camera. I got the talking goggles app and also have vizwhiz and digiteyes and I find the problem is how do I know where to point the camera or how to position it or whether the lighting is any good. I listened to the podcast for talking goggles for example and it worked very well for the presenter but try it myself, not much luck. It is the same thing with AnonyMouse and digiteyes. I am not sure if there are any tips and tricks. I appreciate any help. Sorry it is so long winded.

How do I update the GPS location of an existing POI that is already saved in My Places in Blind Square? I want to add different places from the catogries in blind square to get a general idea when I'm near them and then insert the exact GPS location when I visit them in person for example I want to save the location of different bars and then when I visit them, I can insert the GPS location of where the main entrance is.

Hi All. I was wondering, if Blind Square and Looktel recognizer can be used on iPhone 4.
If so, I may buy them.
The only bummer, is of course, Blind Square is $38.99 and Looktel recognizer is $12.99.
Hmm.
If anyone has any ideas on how to test them on my iPhone 4 before I buy, that'd be good, please contact me off forum.

I am just playing around with blind square and learning more about it. I live in an apartment complex with both townhomes and apartments. I am in a townhome. The issue I'm having is blind square is announcing my address as the address of our rental office. Anyone know why this is? Does blind square not play well with apartments?

Hi all,
I bought Blind Square when it first came out last year and think it's a brilliant navigation app. I have read the long list of questions/ comments in the app directory for it and just want to ask a particular question about future updates on the subject of turn-by turn navigation.
I really have a dilema because on the directory discussion there is some talk about a future upgrade that will include turn-by-turn navigation; so what should I do? Should I wait for this to be included in what I believe is version 2.0 or do I buy Navigon British Isles now?

Is it seal, or ceil? These types of spelling quandaries have been part of my life ever since I can remember. I’ve always considered which of the various very similar ways of spelling a word are the correct ones. At this point, I’m just amazingly tired of doing it.
