My Mac seems to no longer recognize Bookshare books in Pub format since the app changed from iBooks to Books. when opening a downloaded book from Bookshare, Mac sends me an error message stating 'this book cannot be opened - the file is corrupt'. Anyone have any ideas or thoughts as to what's going on here?

Hi, I am a new member but I have used the resources from this great sight for a couple years now and I think the people of Applevis are awesome for supplying this information to the blind community. I have a question that involves a bookshare app for the Mac that's like Read2Go. Does anyone know anything about an app like this? Thanks.

good afternoon. Do I need the ap the unarchiver to access books from Bookshare? What file format do I need to choose to download and read a Bookshare file? Thank you.

Is there anyway I can have Bookworm on the Mac? It is an open source reading app for the blind.
I know this is possible through virtual machine with Windows yet I am looking for something much less complex.
TIA

I'd like to try Windows on my iMac. Can anyone say how easy or difficult the process is, using Boot Camp and installing and accessing Windows?

Hi all,

I'm trying to install Windows with Bootcamp Assistant in macOS Big Sur. However, VoiceOver isn't reading the slider to adjust the amount of disk space that will be used for each system. All I have is the text and the install button. Is anyone else experiencing this? I'm pretty sure this is a bug, because Big Sur was cleanly installed a few days ago.

Greetings, all
Any idea about application that is compatible with Windows on Mac Boot Camp that allows controlling power consumption schemes like switching keyboard automatic dimming on and off and also light detection sensor? I have Windows 8.1 alongside OSX Yosemite and such an application is really important as I notice that battery life is too low on Windows if compared on Mac for the same machine. Mine is Macbook Pro 2012 and I can get up to 8 hours of continuous usage with screen curtain on and keyboard dimming at maximum..
Thank you.

Hello Folks, Do any of you run Windows on your Macs using Bootcamp? How doable is this? Is booting up in either system accessible or is sighted help required?

I installed a windows 10 on my Macbook pro Running the bigsur.
1st of all, the slider for selecting the windows partition size is not accessible at all, and i had to have a team viewer help,
2nd issue is that after installing, my mac startup chime disappear with no reason, my internet card was not working etc,
i opened my bootcamp again to get my supported files for windows,
but after installing them, my windows went away, only the recovery screen was present.

hello all,
there is now an APFS driver for bootcamp. to get it, update all software in apple software
update within windows. this new driver means you can once again switch from Windows to macOS accessiblly. for those who do not have Catalina because of this issue , can now upgrade.

Hello!
According to this article http://www.macrumors.com/2015/09/30/el-cap-boot-camp-no-usb/ there is an opportunity to install Windows on Mac without using USB-drive after updating on El Capitan. But on my macbook air 11 (mid 2013) there is still the old version of bootcamp which requires to insert USB-drive. I would like to know if anyone out there sees changes in BootCamp or you have the same situation as mine.
Thanks.

Hi all,
I've read a lot about setting up partitions when running Windows via Bootcamp. As I understand it (and I could be completely wrong), you're basically splitting your hard drive into two chunks ans aying, "This chunk belongs to OSX", and "This chunk belongs to Windows."

But I'm a little confused about a couple of things, and would appreciate some clarification as I try to figure out what the ideal stats for a potential MacBook would be:

Hello folks, I managed to install Windows on my MacBook Pro using Bootcamp. However, when I boot into Windows it there is no sound unless I plug headphones in. I am also unable to connect to WiFi because wireless drivers are not installed. Has anyone else experienced this issue? What steps sould I take next. Thank you for your help.

I have been having trouble with setting up my win key to behave as alt and alt as win as normal windows keyboards have it on my bootcamp running win10. I have managed this using sharp keys on 8.1, but it doesn't seem to be working on this win10.
the windows key remaps to alt just fine but the win key that's remapped to alt seems to think its ctrl alt instead of just alt. anyway to fix this?
more details are here.

I am having a rather major issue with how sound is rendered on my Macbook Pro 2018 under Bootcamp. When using the internal soundcard--either with speakers or headphones--it seems like the soundcard refuses to output audio unless something is actually playing. This becomes very messy when working with JAWS because, in most cases, the soundcard does not pic up quickly enough when JAWS starts speaking. As a result, I regularly miss most or all of what JAWS says.

hello to all,

for a while, I have been macos only. reasently I've decided to bootcamp my mac again. however, I can't. it says I need at least 42 GB of diskspace. I've deleeted Logic and I thought that woould work. it doesn't. any suggestions?
thanks,
Daniel
should I reformat? Bootcamp always worked pre Catalina and because of the macintosh HD. Data partition, it doesn't work any more.

so I want to put Bootcamp on my early 2015 MacBook Pro. I currently have my SSD partitioned as one beta and one stable OS, having it split in half. first off, how do I restore my Mac to one partition? second, with this new Mac comes a new way to steer the bootcamp Mac configuration. VoiceOver says I no longer need a flash drive to start the installation. how does this work in practice?also, how do I get the required ISO for Windows 10 and where do I get a product key?
