I once tried a mac but I do like some audio games and was never able to get VMware to work correctly. I am now using a Surface Book but don't get me started on the hardware issues I have with it.
So here's the questions I have and let's see what solutions the hive mind of apple vis come up with. For Audio gaming I want VMWare. How do I map the keys correctly to get it to work flawlessly? I could never get a key mapped to work as the NVDA key in the past. I also had trouble making sure I stayed in the VMWare window and did not stray back into OS unexpectedly.
I downloaded Beatstar, Then open the game, And after that it loaded and I selected my language, Then I finished tutorial, after that it asked me to download sound packs I hit enter and it appeared to be downloading like normal but then when the sound packs finished and then it reloaded the game the sound packs it said were no sound packs detected so then I tried to download them again it didn’t work then I did it again and again and again and it never worked I , Does anyone know what’s wrong with it
Hello everyone. I recently got a new MacBook Air, 13 inch, early 2017. I had a MacBook Air 2014. On the 2014 Mac, I used to be able to focus on the downloads folder, and it would give me the download progress. Now it doesn’t. How do I fix this? Also, I managed to download beatstar. However, when I download the sound packs, it doesn’t give me the download progress. On the 2014 Mac, I used to be able to press any key and it would give me the download progress. Could someone please help with that? Any assistance would be much appreciated
Hi all. I've written to the developer but no luck so far. I launch the game, it says there's an update. i press return, then when turning back on Voice Over, i'm at the choose my language area of his website. After that, I see no new way to download the game. When i asked him, he said go to games and download. I did, and it's stil the December 31 2019 release. It's not a huge thing, just curious if anyone has gotten this game to update. I did finally beat the default level. God bless safeguards. ;)
I am still running Catalina 10.15.5. I have ben holding out on updating to Big Sur because I wanted to wait until all the major bugs were squashed. For those who are currently running Big Sur, how is your experience with it? Do any of you regret updating? Is there anything in particular that I, as a Voice Over user, should be aware of before updating? I believe that the messages app works differently with VO in Big Sur. Is that correct? How is VO performance in Big Sur? FYI, I have a 2015 13 inch MacBook Pro, with a Core I7, 16 gigs of ram, and a one terabyte SSD.
For those folks who are starting off learning the Mac with VoiceOver, the following links to the Vision Australia Adaptive Technology podcasts page may be of some assistance.
If you start with the Snow Leopard link )which introduces you to the Mac and VoiceOver), and then move on to the Lion and Mountain Lion links (which go through the new features of each OS), you will hopefully end up with a good understanding of the Mac and VoiceOver.
If you are listening to these podcasts on a Mac that has Mountain Lion installed, the Control+Option+MMM command to take you to Spotlight is no longer avai
I'll try to explain this as easily as possible. some checkboxes will toggle if space is pressed. some however will say check mark, then the element say brown, then a checkbox. Except using any of the shortcuts, space, VO space even VO shift space, don't do anything. So you have to check the checkmark for the element to e toggled on. Does anyone either know what i'm talking about or have you found an easier way to check boxes like these? Thanks. i've even done voice over off, no dice.
Hello all,
Sometimes, when I enter a menu on my new mac book pro, I am stuck and can't get out. Meaning, when I try hitting the escape key, nothing happens.
Anyone else noticing this? I'm thinking it might also be a voice over and Mavericks issue.
Thos of you who have erased and reinstalled Mac OS, can you give specific examples of bugs/behaviors that it fixed? There's some general Mac stuff that appears to be "just me," but don't want to kill a day on it as a "who knows, give it a shot" thing.Thanks.
So I am a coder for life. I typically code in PHP/MySQl/JS/Vue/etc. I use, usually, Textmate to do this, which is great, but it hasn't been updated in some time as far as I can tell.
Can anyone recommend something comparable that might do the same job, but that is more up-to-date?
I decided to see if I could experiment with getting retro games up and running on the Mac, by installing RetroArch. The setup process was fairly straightforward, but I'm wondering if anyone knows of a better AI service than Ztranslate.net. If not, how do I improve the legibility of OCR resultsfrom that particular site. I turned the confidence level all the way up to 1, but no luck. Also using speech mode because, probably understandably, Narrator mode doesn't work on my Mac.
I am fully blind and a voiceOver user. I play guitar, and would be interested in recording some of the songs I write.
I’m looking for a few things. First, and the reason I chose this forum, what’s the best app to use to do this?
Second, I need a good recommendation for a microphone that won’t break the bank.
Finally, I’m looking for a good splitter to plug both my guitar and a microphone into. I would like them to be on separate channels if possible so that I can edit volume on each track, etc.
Hi everyone, hope you're doing well and staying safe 😊 I'm running macOS Tahoe on an M2 MacBook Pro. It's been a while since I've got into listening to internet radio on macOS but I'm thinking about getting back into it again. I want to know: what's the best and most accessible app for listening to internet radio on macOS in 2026? Your recommendations would be much appreciated. The reason why I'm asking this question is because I would imagined that things have come on since I last took this more seriously about 10 years ago.
Hi all,
I'm thinking of starting a podcast in the not too distant future, once I've got my hands on a decent microphone.
Which is the best app for recording and/or editing podcasts? I've had a look at Audacity but I don't want to get too deep into it if it isn't worthwhile. Ideally the app shouldn't cost too much either, although I am open to paying money for it if the features are both useful and accessible.
Hi,
I have several hard drives I want to test to make sure they all work. The person who gave them to me said that a few have issues with read/writing and I would like to know which ones have issues so I don't put valuable data on them.
Is there an app which would let me test them and make sure they all work?
Thanks
Hi everyone I was just wondering what the best way to scan using a Mac is. I wondered if there was any user friendly app or programme. I look forward to any responses.
Hi everyone hope you're all doing well and staying safe. Recently I posted about this on the iOS forum but I'm also going to post about this here. What is currently the best app to scan and read documents with the macOS camera in my case the camera of a late 2019 Intel MacBook Pro. thanks very much for your help everyone kind regards Trey.
Hello Applevis,
Does anyone have any recommendation for a free app to read EPUB books? I've gotten a few free EPUB books, and would like to read them.
Thanks in advance.
