Apple Hardware and Compatible Accessories

Post Date:

Hi all,

I am new to the forum and wanted to check in and see if anyone had heard if there had been any updates on the Apple pencil for blind users. I remember a call out for use cases for the pencil and thoughts on how it would best work for blind people. I see the new version has arrive with USB C but not sure its worth a try yet. Signing documents would be handy if it could recognise boxes for signing and a double tap could enlarge the box to full screen for signing then double tap to confirm could be a simple use. Interested to see what has happened. Cheers

Hi,

I'm searching for a few answers to the following questions for a totally blind individual.

1: does NVDA nonvisual desktop access (free screen reader) work with itunes?

Is it fully compatible making itunes fully accessible? Need to know this to know if I can access iphone applications on itunes independently with NVDA or if I need to upgrade my current screen reading software if I purchase an iphone.

Today, Endgadget reported that Apple may not include a charger with the next iPhone release. Yes, I have several iPhone chargers. That's not the point. If I'm going to be paying $1,500 plus for the new iPhone 12 Pro Max, which I plan on buying when it comes out, it better have a charger included in the damn box! The same goes for all iPhone models. This skimping of Apple to increase its profits is beyond ridiculous. First, it was the headphone jack, and now this.

Do we think VO will work on an Apple silicon laptop from the start?

I think we do and I happen to need a new Mac!

I am getting an Apple Smart Keyboard along with iPad 9 gen. I would like to know if there is a description of the keyboard from top left all the way to the end of bottom right. Never used an Apple Smart keyboard so do not know all the keys due to fact that I am Windows PC.

Hello
I’m planning to get Apple SuperDrive for Christmas. I would like to know if it’s easy to use with VoiceOver.
Thank you

Hello all:
Am planning to Purchase an apple watch, but i do not want to pspend more money, so, if i will pruchase Series 4 or 5, and will use with Iphone 12, will it have any Accessibility problems?
any disadvantages if using an old Watch series?
Thanks in advance

I'm thinking about getting Apple Watch 6. Could you share your opinions about 40mm vs 44mm?
I'd imagine screen size doesn't matter much for VO users like iPhone screen size?
In that case, should I go for 40mm and save some bucks?
Thanks!

Hi all. I'm considering an apple watch finally. The only difference I see is the SE doesn't have blood oxygen or something like that. besides that, I'd go cellular because I honestly don't see the point of having a watch on wifi. I don't have a fabulous connection at my home, thanks to the rich morons who don't want an "eyesore" tower but are fine being snobbish bastards. As for watch apps, I don't stream much although I have an unlimitted data plan so that might help.

I lied. Okay, not exactly, but my very first smartwatch was a ZTE Quartz which I briefly paired with my old OnePlus 5t. It was so slow, so unresponsive, so unusable that I returned it the very same day. Now, more Android smartwatches are shipping with the requisite gig of RAM they so desperately needed, better chips, and a more competent software suite. However, the experience put me off of full-featured smartwatches so much that I trudged along with my trusty Xiaomi Mi Band 3 for the next 2 years, right up until I couldn’t use the inaccessible companion app anymore.

I currently have an Apple Watch series 3. I was wondering if it would be worth upgrading to the new series Apple Watch 5? It seems like there were a couple good upgrades from series 3 to 4. With series 5 the big story is the always on watch display. There were some other minor enhancements. Just wondering if I should just hang on to my series 3 or get the new series 5 Apple Watch.

I'm planning on buying my first iPhone and Apple Watch as soon as the iPhone 12 drops. So far, the Series 6 hasn't given me any reason to buy it over the SE. For those who formerly owned a series 4 or 5 and upgraded to the Series 6, were there any noticeable improvements in the performance of Voiceover? Were there any substantial gains in battery life? Does the faster charging make any difference in the way you use your Apple Watch?

Hi,
TO go along with a possible iPhone I'm looking at watches.
Watch is a fair bit cheaper - is the extra of the 9 worth it? It has the cool features like double tap, another year of updates since I'll be keeping the watch for as long as possible, but still.
I could also just get the SE, how worth it is the stuff the more flagship ones offer anyway? I think it offers more sleep tracking ability, some other sensors etc?

Curious on any thoughts from blind voiceover users specifically.

thank you

Hi, as As the watch gets more features and developes, I wonder how I could apply it to the daily life. So far I can't see how it fits in, but what do you all use yours for?

I am considering trading in my Apple Watch six for the new Apple Watch Ultra. I swim quite a bit and keep my watch on. VoiceOver quality is not good after my watch gets wet. Wondering if anyone has the new Apple Watch ultra and if the three speakers Help with voiceover quality when the watch is wet.

My wife recently bought an Apple Watch Series 3. She also bought one of those third party magnetic straps.

My question: I have a wireless charging pad. Can she safely charge her Apple Watch on my charging pad? I was worried about inductive heating of the metal strap from the charging pad. I usually use the charging pad for my iPhone and Airpods, but it would be nice if she could use it also.

Hi. A couple of days ago I had purchased an Apple Wireless Keyboard. The keyboard works fine with all devices but there is one major problem. The escape key will not let me exit apps or the main settings menu. For the price I had paid for this keyboard! I would of thought this functionality came as standard. I use to have a Macro Mini Bluetooth keyboard and that allowed me to exit apps and the main menu. Can anyone else replicate this problem?

Hi all. Since I use my Airpods second generation mostly on my Mac, I'm having a problem. It's intermitent, but let me try to explain. Sometimes, after I wake the computer, i will hear absolutely no sound except voice over's clicks when navigating through a web page or in my inbox. At other times, as in a few minutes ago, only one Airpod played while the other one though in my ear did nothing. This doesn't happen all the time, and as I said, though connected to my phone I haven't seen this happen yet.
