Hi. I had just a question about Zoom the app that allows you to play interactive fiction on the Mac. When I am typing in a Game, and I have got speak game text enabled, the characters or words that I type, are not spoken. I find this odd, since On every other typing app, they are spoken. Has anyone else encountered this issue. Is there a way around it? Thanks.

Hi everyone,
This is my first time posting to this forum. Can someone please walk me through opening a pdf file that I have saved on my hard drive in iBooks? All of the info I am seeing with regards to iBooks only refers to reading content from the iBooks store. The file that I want to read is on my hard drive, I would like to open it in iBooks rather than preview which is the default.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Jason
Hey guys, I've just got started with my first Mac, and I'm pretty confident so far. The only thing I can't figure out is how to search using safari. I am able to find and interact with the text field in the tool bar to enter a website name, and once I enter my search term, I press the return key. The problem is that upon searching, my device only seems to give me one result when I type in a website, which is unhelpful if that result is not what I'm looking for, and nothing when I input things like search keywords or questions.
I have recently become interested in gaming on my Mac. I haven’t found that many games, maybe there aren’t that many, I don’t know, but I thought I’d ask to see if there were any more that I don’t already have. I have shooter, and another similar type game that I can’t think of the name of right now. I deleted that game though, because I couldn’t really understand how to do it. Anyway, any suggestions you could give would be most appreciated. Thank you
Hi:
I have been collecting ringtones for a long time but most of them are in the OGG. format and MP3. I would like to convert these ringtones to M foR. in order to be able to use them on my iPhone. However, I would like to ask you for recommendations for good file converters to be used on my Mac.
What are the best and accessible file converters for the Mac?
Thank you in advance for your much appreciated help.
Best regards.
Hi all. Does anyone know how to set a homepage on Safari on a mac? The default homepage is apple. How can I change to another homepage? Thanks for any help.
Hi everyone hope you're all doing well and staying safe. I have a record label discography that I would like to sync to my iPod touch buy record label I know that Apple Music doesn't really support this as such is there a way to add the record label discography folder in the Finder directly to a playlist? Or is there any way I can use a smart playlist to add the record label discography to my iPod touch?
As a new user of OS10, migrated from windows, does anybody know of any tutorials for using Skype on OS10 MacBook using yosemite? ?
I recently needed to change the password for my Apple ID. After doing this, everything on my iOS devices works fine. However, when trying to update software on my Mac, I get an earlier message that my Apple ID Is not good. Any software that I attempted update, I am told was not purchased with this Apple ID, or was canceled. Does anyone know what could be going on?
Hi everyone, I hope you're doing well and staying safe. I'm running macOS Tahoe on an M2 MacBook Pro. My problem is this: I can go into the App Store and sign in just fine but when I click on the "Get" button to get an app or the "Buy" button to buy an app I don't appear to be able to actually authenticate it with a Touch ID or passcode. There appears to be nowhere to enter the passcode in the dialog, just a scroll area. It says my account name, then the Cancel button. I touch my finger to the fingerprint scanner and nothing happens.
I recently updated my MacBook Air to the latest operating system, Sierra 10.12. Since the download I am now struggling with using Voiceover in the way that I am used to.
Previously when using the rotor, working within documents, or when browsing a webpage, I could easily scroll down multiple lines by holding the down arrow key. Now it insists on reading the first part of every line I scroll past, which makes for a very slow process.
Is there a way of adjusting any settings in order to go back to what I am used to?
Hi, has anyone used a virtual Mac? This is done through a Windows PC with jaws, and you somehow you rent a virtual Mac for a couple dollars a month. If anyone has, is this accessible?
Subject says it all. Is there an accessible weather application for the Mac? Thanks!
Hi everyone hope you're doing well and staying safe and very happy Christmas to you all :-)
I have a friend who is most comfortable with Skype on Windows I'm not going to recommend any other chat applications to them, I am happy to chat to them using Skype but given the accessibility troubles with Skype on Mac what's the best way to use Skype on Mac currently? I may be wrong but I don't think the Native client is accessible are there any other third-party clients or is using it in the web browser still the most accessible way?
VO+Tab, the VoiceOver passthrough command, or "ignore next keypress" command, appears to be non-functional in Mac OS 12.2.1.
To reproduce, open any app or window. Press VO+Tab. Then try to navigate with VO+Right or Left arrow. The expected behavior is that the navigation command should be ignored. However, on current Mac OS, the navigation command is not ignored.
Hi all. For some reason, especially when I log into a site, I'll start tabbing through to find the element I need. I keep hearing "Ignoring next key press". One site is emiles.com or south west rapid rewards shopping site. I can only get rid of this, by closing, reopening my Mac. If anyone know how to stop this, let me know. I can't even shut off voice over and turn it back on. Please, hope someone know what this is, because it's crazy. Thanks.

I bought my Macbook Pro from its original owner, who reset it to factory defaults.

When I tried to configure the unit to work well with VoiceOver, I somehow found myself confronted with a window that announces, "Interactive help Window Open." If I move the up or down arrows I hear "Window Close,", then "Window open" as i press the up and down arrow keys. The "open" or "close" state changes like a toggle.
<
Hello wonderful AppleVis peeps. I'm trying to help my elderly friend (whose opus novel I am editing) be more independent with his use of Voiceover and as such am having to learn myself.
You all have my utmost respect. Deep bows.
At the moment he wants to get easily into his 'recents' files.
I discovered that if he goes to his doc, opens Finder, we can use Command Shift 'f' to get to recents.
I can see today's recents on the screen, but the Voiceover says "Keyboard Focus has No Selection"
Hi,
The Sierra version of Mail has added "move to junk" to the context menu one opens with VO-shift-M when interacting with mail messages. This is unfortunate because there is already a shortcut key combination to accomplish this and it makes it laborious to navigate to the "move to" choice to manually move a Mail message to another mail folder.
Am I missing a shortcut key combination or a workaround for this?
Thanks.
