Mac

Hello

I am running Mavericks on a one year old iMac and Yosemite on my MacBook Pro which is slightly newer but they both have the same annoying habit of saying "System Application" once in a while.

Hello everyone.
I'm going to ask here because I've been emailing Apple Accessibility all morning.
Sometimes in documents, VO stops speaking. I need to turn it off sometimes in order for it to speak again.
Anyone notice this?
Thank you.

When I go to the favorites bar, or top sites area. when I pressVO plus space bar, nothing happens. So, what keystroke do I use?

Hello Everyone,

I have been reading articles and posts on AppleVis for quite a while but have never posted until now. I am an individual who uses screen reading technology under the windows platform with little experience using Voiceover. Through my work I provide limited assistance for persons with disabilities attending post-secondary programs and have run into an issue I want to see if anyone has either encountered or have ideas on how to solve.

Until recently, if I used the VoiceOver Find command VO+F to search for text that was not present, I would get an audible "thunk" sound indicating the search had failed. But in current Mac OS, all I get is an announcement of the alphanumeric last letter of the search.

Here's an example.
1. If VoiceOver's not on, enable it with VO+F5.
2. Open Safari. Open any app, really it doesn't matter.
3. Press VO+F.
4. In the find dialog, enter text that doesn't exist, such as "clown robot", then press Enter.

For those of you who worked in call centres or similar, a question. There's a program called vocalcom which many employers use. How accessible is it for screen-reader users? And is it better on mac or windows as far as accessibility? Thanks for any responses / experiences.

Hi.
I can't download macOS Zosia from the spoken content/customizem, it crashes.
Please help me, I am asking for extended, because the normal is super bad, And I can't understand it quite well, as the extended one.
I updated to ventura because firefox and all tts apps have problems with it, I decided to revert to trusty monterey.
I regred that I updated in the first place!
macOS ventura is just not good.

I noticed that VOCR 2 has an alpha out:
https://github.com/chigkim/VOCR/releases/tag/v2.0.0-alpha.10

It has a lot of new features. For starters, you can now change the keyboard shortcuts, which should be handy. I've always struggled with Cmd+Option+Shift+W.

And, somewhat inevitably, it now has some AI built into it. To use ChatGPT you must supply your own API Key, or if you have the stomach for it you can set up a local chatbot.

Hi All,

I've just released VOCR 2.0, packed with many new features compared to version 1.0. Please check out the demo and download it here: https://chigkim.github.io/VOCR/

If you're not familiar with the app, here's a brief description:

Post Date:

Hey all,
I'm running the latest version of MacOs, and I cannot get VOCR 2.0.2 to OCR anything on the screen.
I get the sound when I perform the command, but I never get the finished prompt, and I don't have anything to navigate.
Has anyone else seen this, and does anyone know of a work-around?

Hello,
Do you know why, when I want to start VOCR screen recognition in Safari using the shortcut (CMD+CTRL+Shift+A), before the window with the option to type instructions appears, I additionally have to select the window I want to recognize?

Besides the name of my actual window, there is something like:
"Select a window to scan."
"Untitled1701799480 default button"

Hi all,

It's Joseph here. I was wondering if it's possible to voice chat with google talk on the mac, or rather, what apps will allow me to do so.

Thanks,

Joseph

Hi all,
I am not sure if you agree with me that this should be remodify in OS X or kept as it is, still for sure it is not a bu.
I have had some audio books and was thinking of converting one section of a book to written format, so I tried with Mac dictation by pressing twice on the Function Key. So while playing the audio book and once pressed on that key, the dictation ding sound appears still the playing of the audio book automatically pauses. Can there be any option to modify in order for that not to happen?
Thanks everybody.

After the beta testing Voice Dream Reader is available now for the macOS. This is the link to get the app from the Mac App Store: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/voice-dream-reader-for-desktop/id972112040?mt=12

One unexpected twist is that it now requires 5$ monthly subscription.

Hi all,
I find myself to be a proud owner of a new M1 MacBook Air. I recently switched from my MBP 2017 to this one.
I have been fascinated with the fact that the M1 Macs can (in principle) run IOS and iPad OS apps.
I was wondering whether I could run VoiceDream Reader on my M1 Mac? Has anyone been running it on their M1 Mac?
If I (in principle) am able to run it on my M1, then how may I go about it?
Any suggestions will be highly appreciated.
Thank you and have a good day!

Hi,

I have a new MacBook Pro 2020.
I'm from Poland.
On the login screen when you start VoiceOVer speaks English.
In my previous MBP 2013 he spoke Polish.
Can you change the language somehow?

of course the whole system is set to Polish.

I'm setting up a friend's new Mac, and I've encountered an issue: the VoiceOver voice on the login screen is speaking a language I can't identify. How can I change the VoiceOver voice and language at the login screen? The system interface language is set to English, and that's the only language installed. So why is the login screen using a strange voice and language?
