Mac

Hello! I am using MacOS Sonoma 14.2.1 with Reaper 7.07 and Osara, but experiencing some pretty strange behaviour from VoiceOver. First, I created a new track. Then, I added an existing audio file to it. I wanted to apply the reverse effect to the file, so I went to "item properties" from the file menu and checked the box. Next, I pressed "okay", exited the window, and played the track. Everything good so far. After that, I went to the file menu again and pressed VO+right arrow. Where VoiceOver should have said "item" it said nothing at all.

Hi,
I was using some apps that are not Voiceover compatible, and I have to move the mouse pointer to click buttons. I was wondering if there's any add-ons for Voiceover that can save the position of the mouse pointer in an app. Its function is just like hot spot, but it saves the position of mouse instead of Voiceover cursor. If there's no such app available, I may be able to develop one. Does anyone have suggestion for this idea?

Thanks,
Adam

Hey guys, I just updated from Ventura to Sonoma, and I am not sure if what I am encountering is a bug or if there's a way to fix it somehow. I tried looking around the forum but nothing pops out as useful.
So I'm using Eloquence as my default voice, and my rate is set to 80%. However, the speech rate goes down to 50% when reading certain words. For example, Eloquence is reading back this text to me with 50%, but when I go around the website it's back to my usual 80%.

Hi, I am Ambro from Italy. I have a question regarding Safari and Voiceover. When I browse pages, in many sites Vo reads for example three elements and the text. It appens in various sites, for example Google news, Wikipedia, facebook. Is there the possibility to not hear it? I have tried to change options in the voiceover settings, and verbosity for certain elements, for example list, but I couldn't make what I would.
Thanks,
Ambro

I'm still very new to the Mac as I've only had my macbook for 2 weeks. I paired a couple different bluetooth headsets to the system and while they work with Skype, Voiceover won't come through the headset. An suggestions on what i've missed? Under voiceover utility it is set to use system default for sound.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi, guys.
So, one of my teachers has assigned a video project for our final... I'm kind of freaking out, because I've tried to play around with iMovie and the trial of Final Cut, but I just don't know how easy it will be to do this. I have no video editing experience, and it is due VERY soon.
Has anyone messed about with these before? If so, what're your experiences?

Hi.

I recently tried to sample some audio. However, when I try to use the AU Sampler, most buttons aren't labeled and the ones that are don't let me accomplish what I want to do.

Is there a third-party plugin I can use to sample audio or is there a fix?

GarageBand 10.3.1, macOS Mojave.

Thank you.
Have a nice day.

Hi, everyone!
I was just wondering, for those of you that use Chrome on the Mac, does anyone know why VO doesn't announce any keyboard echo whatsoever when typing? It only seems to happen to me in Chrome, nowhere else. Thanks in advance, guys!

Below is the text of an email exchange I had with Apple about Pages. I haven't tried it yet, but wanted to post for the experts to evaluate. As a user of a Mac, iPhone and iPad, I have found one of the main shortcomings of the Apple accessibility infrastructure to be in the productivity arena. I am a heavy user of word processing software for complex legal documents. To date, while it is marginally usable, I have found Pages falls well short of MS Word on a PC platform with JAWS screen reading. I note that new versions of Pages for both OS and IOS have been released.

Hi folks,

I noticed that VoiceOver sometimes can’t follow the keyboard focus, especially in “Choose a File” dialogs. I know the keyboard focus moves when I use the arrow and Tab keys, but VoiceOver doesn’t detect it. I can’t even type a letter to quickly find a file, so I have to interact with the column browser to choose files. I don’t know why this happens, but I’ve noticed it occurs less often when the app is in full-screen mode. It doesn't happen all the time, so it's hard to tell why or when too.

Hi all,

Just wondering whether anyone else has encountered the following issue: When playing a slideshow, voiceover gets slide titles, but cannot see any content. Steps to reproduce:

1. open either a Keynote or Powerpoint presentation using Keynote;
2. Press cmd-option-p to play the slideshow.
3. attempt to read the slide content.
4. press space to move to the next slide. The title will be heard.
5. press backspace to go to the previous slide. Again, slide title can be heard.

Hi all!
Is it possible to stop voiceover from announcing all the landmarks when navigating sites? Especialally on mac.

This gets overly annoying on certain sites.

Thanks.

Does the current voiceover on the latest macOS work good with libreoffice? I use it on windows and I have documents in ODT format that I edit and write.

I've noticed an annoying quirk in VoiceOver for Mac (Monterey)

If I have a long camel cased word, then VoiceOver will spell it out for me instead of pronouncing it as words.

For example, VoiceOver reads out OneTwoThreeFourFiveSixSeven as if it had spaces between the words. However, if I add the word Eight onto the end, so OneTwoThreeFourFiveSixSevenEight, then VoiceOver reads "capital O n e capital T double u o" etc. Which is really annoying me as we have a load of yaml files that does this a lot.

Hello everyone,

I am an Assistive Technology Instructor working with a client who is blind and uses VoiceOver on a MacBook Pro. We are trying to determine whether anyone has successfully used Pearson MyLab Math with VoiceOver and, if so, what workflow or settings were required.

The course is accessed through Canvas and launches into Pearson MyLab Math. We are encountering several accessibility barriers:

I have a friend who has had a business and used QuickBooks for Windows. She is now totally blind and the state commission had her try JAWS for Windows and QuickBooks and that was very good for her, and so someone said that QuickBooks 2014 for the Mac and VoiceOver would work. I have a Macbook Pro and VoiceOver works great, and QuickBooks work great separately, but together QuickBooks locks up.

I understand you can get QuickBooks on line and so perhaps that would be better with VoiceOver.

Can anybody help?
