Hello all! Having seen how the YouView app offers a more satisfying user experience than the YouTube website, I was wondering if anybody has any recommendations for something similar for Wikipedia?

Hey all, so I just got my first macbook yesterday, and today i download serval apps. I attempted audible but couldn't because I didn't have a palm hardware? I also download Capti Narrator to access bookshare books, I just wanted to make sure that both of these are safe, didn't bring any virus from the internet over on the download. In addition, do I nerd any antivirus software like notron on my mac. For the audible and Capti narrator download i did have to say allow downloads from anyone and just not apple aproved.

I have been poking around on this site trying to find the answer to this question and I must not be looking in the right place. I have my Windows 7 dvd and my mac book air. I will be getting the super drive shortly so I am trying to research the other software I will need in the meantime. I see that lots of people prefer either one or the other, but most people seem to have both and I am not sure if I need to worry about having both or not.

Hi! I've asked here before whether it is worth switching from Jaws with Windows to Mac with voiceover. While some people have made it work, most people have not recommended the switch, especially if I have to do a lot of formatting.

Do you think Voiceover and Mac will ever be advanced enough to replace Jaws and Windows? Any developments that give hope this will happen?

Hi,
I don't know what's causing this. For instance, I am unsure if it happened before I updated to Big Sur, so I don't want to blame that. I may have changed a setting somewhere. I'm still doing some learning about using Mac. When I am in the Doc, I hit VO+SHIFT+M, but the menu to work with Doc items sounds like it opens, but VoiceOver suddenly lands on the Desktop. As far as I can tell, the Doc is the only place I don't get this menu to come up. For instance, I can make it come up in Finder when I work with files and see those options.

Hello! So, Voice over announces the badges for the dock items. For example, it tells how many unread mails are in the mail app. My mac doesn't do this for me, I think because of the low speech verbosity. Because if I set it to high, it works. How could I get this working with low speech verbosity aswell? If I set the "doc items" verbosity in custom speech verbosity to high, it doesn't work.

Hello friends:

First of all, thanks for having such a wealth of resources for new users like me. It's quite easy to learn MAC environment with all the help and advise we get from the forum. Now to my query, I opened a document to go through its contents but am unable to close it. I pressed command plus W ttot close the window, but despite voiceover saying 'close' the document doesn't close. No response when I pressed command plus Q. Can someone help as to how to close and how to avoid something like this from happening in future?

Good evening. Is it better to use text edit or pages for writing documents on a Mac? If I use pages, should I write the document as a blank document or the notetaking option? I have a cousin that uses word on her Mac. is Word accessible with voiceOver? What is the command for the back button when you are in safari? Can I use some of the same apps I have on my iPhone on the Mac? Is there a way to download and read books from bookshare on a Mac? What format do I need to choose? I would like to download the books and read them at a later time. Thank you.
