Can someone give me instructions to show and delete the recovery partition on my Mac? I have an SD card with the full installation package for Sierra so the recovery is useless for me. I'd like to get the 600 or 700 MB taken up by that back for use on my primary Mac partition. The instructions I found don't seem to work in versions of OS X past Yosemite. If anyone can give me the correct commands to show the hidden drive and safely erase/merge that space with my main partition, I would appreciate it.
Hello all, I am trying to delete the guest user on my mac using VoiceOver by going to system preferences, then to security and privacy, but it is not letting me make changes to or delete the guest user account, it won't even display it on the screen. The only thing it lets me do is make changes to my primary user account. Does anyone have any suggestions?

I'm a veteran PC user. I have found it hard to get used to selecting, cutting, copying, and pasting text on Mac. My primary editor is TextMate. Specifically, I keep deleting and selecting the wrong text. On the PC, speech says the text, and when you press Delete, it works every time. For me on Mac, It seems like I have to put the cursor on the text, then go backward to delete it, and when I think I have selected the text to delete, wanting to remove a word, for example, I delete the wrong text.
How can I think of this correctly and get used to it?

<p>I have tried to completely switch to a MAC from Windows quite a few times. Unfortunately, we have problems. First, courses in my undergrad degree require Microsoft products not available on the MAC. This factor does not bother me much because I should have as many tools available to me in the "IS/IT" field as possible. It's the second factor that bothers me. Second, I find that it is easy to depend on things that are not necessary. It seems to happen more in the Windows world than anywhere else, but it does happen in other places.

I'm starting to use the Desmos on mac to produce graphs. I'm trying to do audio trace on a graph and whenever I press Option+T, VoiceOver should announce audio trace on, but in reality it doesn't do that on my end. Is there anything I'm missing here?
How do you generate mouseOver events in sites?
There are sites that will show menus when the mouse is over a given element. In those cases, activating the link won't show the desired menus or make the desired actions occur. In JAWS, one presses ctrl + ins + enter and programatically the mouseOver event is fired, allowing access to the desired content.
In voiceover however I have no idea about how to make the mouseOver events occur with pit a mouse.
How do you cause mouseover events with vo and safari?

In prior versions of MacOS, the battery level of my Bluetooth headphones or speakers would be displayed in the Bluetooth menu or in the BlueTooth Settings in System Preferences. Now, I no longer see this. Is there something I need to do to turn this on? Otherwise, how do you detect BT battery charge level on your device on a Mac?
Periodically, for the last day or two, I'm getting the following notification popping up.
"Software Update, Close Apps Before Scheduled Update, Some apps may prevent your Mac from installing the software update later. Make sure you save documents and quit any open apps when you’re done for the day."
Interacting with this doesn't tell me anything useful. I thought it might be the OS but that's up to date, 26.3.1.
I'm addressing this thread to developers, mainly because I use my MacBook for work, and that means I have to read a lot of code with the browser, and have to deal with websites like Github, Gitlab and StackOverflow, which means a lot of code blocks.

I have tried two development editors on the Mac so far, and am not impressed. TextRangler and Sublime Text all prove inaccessible. I am particularly disappointed with Sublime Text because I am going through Learn Python the Hard Way and Sublime Text has a Python console built in, that you could probably bring up and close with a single keystroke. It saves me from having to open Terminal every time I want to run a script.
I started using this tool a few days ago because I needed a new toy to play with. But it very quicly stopped being just a toy. For the last few days I am migrating all my stuff from many other apps to DT because its just amazing and, more importantly it just works. The databases are easy to backup and move which is pretty important in my setup as I move between two countries on a regular basis. Searches are fast, and I mean it, corcondance mode helps in my dirty writing, and countless organizational tools make my huge amount of papers organized.

I have been having a very interesting problem for a while now using Mojave.
Essentially when dictating especially in Safari, on random occasions, what you dictate is actually put in twice.
Here is an example.
if i put something like, need to find restaurants in my area, dictate will do this, need to find restaurants in my areaneed to find restaurants in my area.
Occasionally, it will only do it with a fragment like so.
need to find restaurantsneed to find in my area.
I have a macbook pro 2018 and have updated to the latest OS. I keep on hearing "dictation has new window" when navigating through the menus. It comes and goes, interrupting the actual menu items. Is there a setting that I need to change to keep from hearing this announcement?
