The "headings" feature on VoiceOver Web Rotor does not work in Pages. Thus, the shortcut "VO-Command-L" used to go next heading, and "VO-Command-M" used to go next same heading level does not work. This limits my navigation in a Pages document. That is, I very often need go from a heading to another heading in documents. The feature I mentioned easily works to press JAWS key and F6 in MS Word on Windows with JAWS.

Hi guys! I have a bunch of usermanuals I would like to read for my music production hardware, and they are of course in PDF. I've tried Adobe reader, but it doesn't seem to work that well with VoiceOver, which I thought was wierd, because it worked so fine with my Windows screenreader before I switched to Mac. So far my experience with Mac has been nothing but great, but this issue with reading PDF is causing me a headache.

Hi all. i updated, and my Mac was reset to defaults. So I changed some prefferences to how I had them, but i'm lost on a few things. For instance, when I tap with two fingers ont he track pad, the doc should open. When I do, I hear this swishing sound, andmission control comes up. It's the double tap with two fingers gesture I'm doing, one i've always done inthe past. So can anyone help fix this? It's driving me crazy, lol. Also in safari prefferences, I have it set to read the page by dom order, but when I open the web, I see only about half the page.

My elderly friend (Nick is 83) and client is having a lot of trouble with his Voiceover. He's a brilliant novelist and I'm helping him edit his tome, the first in a series. In fact, I'm so grateful to this group because we're using Ulysses, recommended in this forum, which I don't know what I'd have done without if I'd had to work with 2000 pages plus of research and finished chapters in Word.

Haven't been able to find this anywhere. I can't seem to perform an advanced search in Finder, meaning that I can't limit the search to "kind" or apply any other filters. The location to search also seems pretty much randomly to reset to "on my Mac" after I've selected the current folder instead. The directions given here haven't worked: after hitting enter in the search field, there's no "add" button, no "context menu on the far left," and no filter options in the scroll area.

Hi,
I used Winamp when I was a Windows user to listen to audiobooks and music as well as radio station URLs. Is there an alternative app I can use on the M1 MacBook Air? I am also looking for a Twitter client. On iPad I use Twitterrific but I don't know if I can use that on my MacBook or if I need to use something different. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

I’m looking for someone that can train someone totally blind on using the Apple Mac and the iPhone. This person used both of those platforms before she lost her vision.

Do you know anybody I can refer to?

Hello Applevis,
I've seen this keyboard + trackpad gesture mentioned several times here and also in the official apple documentation about when you hold control while moving your finger across the trackpad. However, I don't really understand it and how it's different than just moving the finger alone and doing explore by touch. Can please someone help me with this and explain how and in which contexts get the most out of it?
Thanks in advance!

I need more explaination about the customization of each elements present in voiceover utility > verbosity --> speech / braille - Additional verbosity options.
What is the meaning of each of the checkboxes such as name, status, content and type? I don't even think that there is an explaination in the voiceover user guide about those. Correct me if I am wrong!

Hello all.
I am really thankful to quite a few on this forum who have helped me get even more comfortable with some critical aspects of desktop navigation.
Now I need guidance on accessing and navigating output on a terminal.
I have to do a lot of work in Python and node.js and several times access a remote server through shell.
I also use git to push and pull source code and some tiems issue commit or similar commands like log.
But I am not able to consistently read the terminal.

Hello everyone, I got a Macbook air 3 days ago. I wanted to listen to Pandora so I downloaded adobe flash player. I decided to just stick with iTunes radio and I wanted to uninstall adobe flash player. I downloaded Appdelete and deleted it off the Mac with that, or so I thought. Well, anyway, the setting for flash player is now showing up in system preferences. Th option for flash player wasn't there before, and now it's there. Can someone please explain how to make sure the app is fully gone from my Mac and how to get the flash player option to disappear from system preferences?

Hello. Any ideas how I can connect, for example, microphone input channel 1 to output channel 3 in this program? VO+ drag and drop doesn't work, mouse commands don't seem to work either. Are there any more accessible alternatives to this software? I tried to use blackhole, but unfortunately failed trying to set up the audio routing the way I needed. I would appreciate some advice.

Hi there,

So I created a bootable usb to install Sierra. I used diskmakerx and the process was esty and fast. But when I want to boot from the USB it won't show up on the startup disk manager. I tried choosing it from system preferences and from the startup disk chooser by holding the option key when restarting. The drive does not appear on any of them, but it's perfectly vissible when the OS loads.
Of course I tried different USB sticks and no result.

Any ideas?

Hello everyone. I am re-downloading Abby fine reader pro today and was wondering how I can stop documents from duplicating when scanning? I hit scan and the scanner scans the document and says finish scanning. When the scanned document opens in the app I want it too, ex PDF., there is a duplicate of the document. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.

Hi. I am getting my mac figured out pretty good. It is way easier for me then windows. I am learning it way faster then I thought I would. I can use Safari, download and update apps, change settings, connect my Braille display and much more. But one thing that has me completely stuck is the finder. Even after reading some articles on the finder and spending hrs and hrs playing with it, I just can not figure it out. I have looked on lots of blindness websites and can not find any podcasts on finder. Anyone know where I can find a podcast or something else that may help me?
