Mac

Hi all fellow mac users, my name is Guy, I’m from Toledo, OH and just got my first mac. I must say that I don’t ever see myself going back to Windows as my primary OS, even though I do have to use Internet Explorer in my job. I do have a couple questions though. I’ve gotten copy and paste down pretty well, but how do you select two items that aren’t next to each other, while using Voiceover? Also, is anyone here using something besides Adium for instant messaging? If so, what do you recommend? The problem I have is quickly getting Voiceover to read the last message that came in.

Good Morning, I recently purchased a MacBook Pro and I absolutely love it even though I'm not very proficient with it yet. Do you know if there are any braille materials available for learning to use the Mac? I'm copyingb commands and some techniques, but it would sure be nice if there were some braille manuals available. The main things I need to learn first are how to handle e-mail and how to play and save music on the Mac. I was able to compose an e-mail, but no matter what I did I could not find out how to send it. I found delete and save and soforth but not send.

Hi,
I'm a new user to the Mac in general as well as GarageBand. About the only thing that I've been able to do through interacting with various things is changing an instrument on a midi track. I was doing Google searches to try and find some tutorials, but the site that supposedly had them showed they were coming soon, and hadn't been updated since 2010. Are there any audio tutorials here, or guides that I can go by?
Thanks,
Patrick

Hi to all at appleVis I am a newcomer to the mac world and would first like to say that I have found the AppleVis website and resources a treasure trove of information which has made it possible for me to get this far with my mac in a short period of time and would have found it extremely difficult and thrust rating with out the resources here. Many thanks to all at AppleVis for all the fantastic work that goes on here.

Hi everyone,

Has anyone here tried an app called Nexy?

an AI-Powered Voice Assistant Empowering Computer Control for the Visually Impaired

it can:

Control a Mac using voice commands

Understand what’s on the screen

Tell you where buttons or elements are located

Open and manage apps hands-free

Help with messages (write, read, summarize)

Perform browser tasks, including filling out forms

Do real-time web searches

Here’s their site:

Is night owl still the most accessible twitter client for OS10? If so, is there a way to know what area of the client you're switching to when using control tab? Right now I have no idea what buffer I'm in (home, search, etc)

Hello all,
Is there a way to have night owl keep my place in my home feed when I close out the program and open it again later? Right now everytime I open the app I am at the very top of my tweet list instead of where I last left off.

Greg Wocher

Hi all. It's been a while since I posted on here. I write this with a great deal of disappointment. As some of you know I'm in the beta program for macOS. Well a new beta release got pushed to me on Tuesday so I installed it. (Disclaimer, this next part has nothing to do with the NDA). I stepped away from my computer to socialize with the people I live with upstairs and after 15 minutes I came back to find out that Night Owl was prompting me to sign back in to Twitter.

Post Date:

Hi all. I tried to update night owl using the updater after it went crazy with the bonk sound when I couldn't log in. It frustrated me so I removed the app, tried to redownload the app from the Mac app store. Let me tell you, that's a big pain in the butt. I swear apple made it harder with their "collection". Anyway I ended up clicking the website button, then downloading it there. After I clicked on open the zip file, it offered to put itself in the apps folder. Except it then says could not move to applications folder, with an OK, button at the end.

I rarely reply to anything on Twitter, so I don't know how long this has been going on. whenever I try to reply to a tweet in Nightowl, I end up replying to a different one than the tweet I am on. It seems to be the first tweet in the table that is always the one I reply, even if I have interacted with. anyone got any ideas?

Hi all. Subject line says it all. Since Twitter increased their character limit, you're stil stuck with a smaller number using the mac app. I haven't seen an update in ages, is there on that's not available on the ap store that might be better then this one? thanks.

Post Date:

Hi all. I can't figure out why this is hapening. I launched Nightowl yesterday to say something, I tweeted, sound went through I saw it. Awesome, however this morning, my timeline isn't updated, neither does my tweet seem to show up when I hit return after i say something. To my knowledge i haven't done anything, and as far as I know there isn't some update I am not aware should be installed. If anyone can figure this out, I'd appreciate it. I only refreshed the current tab, then all tabs, thinking that might help. I don't think i'm in silent mode either.

Hello everybody!

I have been getting a "ninety percent loaded" message when trying to open web sites on Mac Safari. Ninety percent loaded, ninety percent loaded, ninety percent loaded can go on for quite a while, and there's nothing I can do to stop it. It's very frustrating.

Does anyone know why this is happening, and does anyone know how to fix it?

Joy!

Bruce

Hi all. I've had two guys try to call me on FaceTime, and I wanted to use the Mac Mini over here to do the FaceTiming, so I answered, and I even asked Siri to do it for me. However, audio is broken and the parties I've FaceTimed can't hear me, or they can but I can't hear them. What should I do to fix this problem? Let me say I've checked my input and output sounds, checked on Skype, did a test call with Skype, and Skype works. But FaceTime? What in the world is wrong with FaceTime?

I enabled emoji and keyboard viewer on my old macbook running latest version of High Sierra but no options are in my menu bar for it. I've been trying to find out why for hours but can't. Does anyone know what my problem might be? It doesn't matter if my cursor is in a text field or not.

Hi all.

I was going to forward a message and accidentally hit cmd-l I believe, which was probably the old Thunderbird command on Windows. It said "enable message filter", and now my "all inboxes" table is empty of messages. Anybody know what I did and how to change it back? I don't readily see anything that looks promising and I have no idea what filter it would have enabled.

Hi Everyone,

I have a 2020 Mac Mini. I have been using it without a monitor and have the 'not responding' message continuously.

Last week, on a podcast episode of Double Tap, one of the guests mentioned he did not get the dreaded 'Not Responding' message and that he was using a HDMI dummy.

So, I purchased a HDMI dummy. I placed it into the Mac Mini and proceeded to navigate around my Mac. I opened one app after the other, and to my amazement, everything is more snappy, and no more 'Not Responding'!!!!

tHANK YOU dOUBLE Tap!

Hello,

1. I use VoiceOver with Zosia extended synthesizer. But it's the same with Siri's voice..
2. When I run spreadsheets, e.g. in Numbers, VoiceOver does not read At digits (-) (Minus).
3. if I have a formula e.g. 2-4 VO it will read:
- with punctuation all: (dash) in polish (kreska)
- With punctuation some: nothing.
4. In version 12 of MaCOS, when (-) stood on the digits, it correctly read (Minus)
5. 2-4 = -2 (minus)2
