Mac
Hi all,
Is it just me or is the notification centre on Mac a bit of a nightmare, at least with VoiceOver.
I press VO+O to open it, but when in there, VoiceOver focus keeps jumping back to the widgets section. So I'll navigate to a notification, clear it, and instead of staying in the notifications area, it jumps back to the widgets again. This kind of thing keeps happening.
Hi all, maye you can help me with this.
On my Mac, it's saying there's one new item under system settings. There are no software updates, everything is up to date. Is there anything else I should check?
Thanks.
does any one know how I can get the down load of podcasts in I tunes on the Mac?
Is there a guide or help documentation on how to interact with the re designed notifications in Mac Big Sur?
VoiceOver focus would get stuck in the notifications and I could not figure out how to close or dismiss them. It would continue to repeat the information. There must be new keyboard commands that I am missing. If anyone has any tips or gestures that might help with interacting with and closing the new notifications, it would be greatly appreciated.
I just purchased a Mac mini 2 Pro with logo K380 keyboard and logo wireless mouse. While the mouse, which has a dongle, pairs with the computer Iβve been unable to pair the keyboard; therefore, in setting up the M2, I canβt get past the step of entering the Wi-Fi password. I suspect Iβm doing / not doing something fundamental. Would appreciate practical advice.
Hello, to all. How are you? Once again I am Owen. A legally blind high schooler who would like your opinions. I recently bought a macbook pro-inch15 and am currently writing to you on it. My question regards my TVI. She says no one blind uses macs nor, will we get any support. Obviously the first part is wrong. I would love to hear all your inputs. In addition I am having a little trouble reading bookshare books with my braille display. I am reading them through the xml file.
Hello,
The existing emacspeak speech server, swiftmac, is built on AVSpeechSynthesizer, and I found it a bit unresponsive, especially in fast-navigation scenarios. So I wrote nsspeaker, which continues the direction started by fastmac - a Go-based speech server that already used the more responsive NSSpeechSynthesizer, but didn't implement the full Emacspeak protocol and required a Go toolchain to build.
I'm trying to decide whether to get a Mac Book Pro or a PC. The answers to this question could effect my decision.
I am a bit overwhelmed with all of the different commands that the Mac can now do. I am hoping that someone can help clear up the difference for me between using the Num pad commander compared to using the Quick Nav Keys?
Hello everyone,
I bought a new Macbook Pro with a M1 chip last year. My original plan was to work with Logic Pro and this seems to work quite well for me. The hardware is amazing. so I thought I could try out some other apps, again. Many years ago I worked on a Mac for quite a while but I moved back to Windows because of to many VoiceOver related bugs and inconsistencies .
If somebody could help me confirm this one, it would be a lot of help. On the Mac, viewing comments was fairly easy. The way that I did it was by pressing command shift K, and then just reading the comments. However, now, the same is impossible. I pressed command shift K, and then when I try to read the written comment I just get put back onto the main table and I cant seem to be able to read comments with voiceover. Using numbers latest version on both my macs. Tried it on both, and same thing. Can Anyone else confirm?
Hello, all:
I recently purchased Numbers for the mac, and I must say that I do enjoy it. I do have one small issue that I want to bring to the attention of everyone.
When trying to merge cells, Voiceover does not read the contents of the merged cells.
1. I select the cells I want to merge, then press VO Shift M.
2. I arrow down to Merge, then press VO space to activate.
3. Now the cells are merged, and I try typing a value.
So now apparently this bug, or just me doing it wrong, has been fixed and we can effectively edit a formula just by moving with left and right arrow keys. The only quirk is that I'd like to have some more precision as to what to edit. For example if there is a range a1:a10 and I want to edit only the second element and replace it with a11 for example I'd have to remove the full range and start over. After maybe sighted people have the same problem too although I doubt.
Ok, so when using numbers on the mac, I seem to run into a bit of a problem.
There is a long-standing issue on MacOS in which the old NumPad commander (or whatever they're calling it since the keyboard shortcut revamp) becomes disabled while VoiceOver is in a password field. In other words, assume you have NumPad 6 configured as VO+right arrow. Navigate to a password field, enter your password, and press NumPad 6. The expected behavior is that you would navigate out of the field. The actual behavior is that another character is entered into the password field, presumably the numeral 6.
Hi Everybody!
Yesterday, I was happily using my numpad commander number 6, which I programmed for move right/move the VoiceOver cursor right. /that's the key I use most often for going line by line through a document or web page or whatever.
Anyway, it suddenly started making a little dull bell tone, and very unexpected things started happening, such as when I was reading an email and editing it, and the email suddenly vanished. I mean, that email was one I had spent hours working on. I was NOT happy.
I don't intend to make a comprehensive guide of this just now; I'm knackered, and anyway there's probably strength in having someone else on here replicate my results and document it properly. I just want you to know it's possible and I've done it: I now have fast and responsive remote screen sharing with VoiceOver feedback.
