Subject line says it perfectly. I am never one to ask before upgrading, or blame those who dislike something. but IOS16.1 is absolutely terrible for my iPhone 12. Alex cuts off almost like Eloquence did, which is another reason I don't want forty year old tech on my device. So how bad is Alex? . If apple fixes the voice issues, with actual disabled internal testers, we'd have much better Os As it stands, coming from a senior apple advisor, they were unable to tell me of any disabled person in any category who worked for them in particular.

I am running the latest numbers update on Yosemite and am having an annoying problem with Alex stuttering and interrupting important information. When I'm moving across columns and he is reporting the header roes he will begin to speak the title of the header, but then stutter and begin saying the title over again, interrupting himself. e will start and stop several times, but never completely say the title of the header.

Can anyone confirm the way Alex pronounces the pronoun "Her"? Each time I type that word Alex pronounces it twice.
Is there any workaround for this?

I know that the standard way to install the Alex voice on macOS is to download it using a Wi-Fi connection. However my question is this, is there an installation file for the Alex voice that can be downloaded and placed on the USB drive to be installed on a persons computer if they don't have a very good Wi-Fi connection or in a situation where we need to save time?

I haven't been able to reproduce this, but when I'm using the Alex voice with VoiceOver on Mac, the voice will randomly change to a high pitch and rate, I have usually found this behaviour when checking the time or just navigating the screen. The voice doesn't sound as if the pitch is set to 100%, rather, the voice seems to lose its human quality and sound very robotic, higher pitched and fast.
Has anyone experienced this? Do they know how to stop this from randomly happening/ I noticed this with 11.2.1 as this hasn't happened before.

I use a shell script to announce the time as described in this old-but-still-accurate forum topic.
In order for this to work, I have to open VoiceOver Utility and select the "Allow VoiceOver to be controlled with AppleScript" checkbox. This is no problem. It's a one-time change, and afterwards, the script runs when invoked with a Keyboard Commander keypress.

Hey all,
Has anybody had luck figuring out why this checkbox can’t be toggled for some High Sierra installations? I’m asking for some friends of mine. We are Pro Tools users, and as such, the Keyboard Maestro macro group Flo Tools is indispensable for us.
I’ve searched around, and all I’ve found are some unresolved forum posts on here regarding Yosemite.
Any advice would help immensely, even if suggesting a solution for older versions.

Hi guys,
I was just wondering how to enter the Menu for different audio outputs using VO on the Mac. Sighted people just click while holding the Alt-Key onto the audio symbol in the extras menu which than doesn't just show the fader for volume but also shows input and output devices to choose from.
I know I can change those settings in the system settings but I am wondering if there is a quick way or any way basically to get to those types of menu where you have to hold down the Alt-Key in conjunction with a mouse click.

I know about Ulysses, and things like the native built in Notes app, but I don't need something quite as suffisticated as Ulysses that does markdown, etc. I just need a real basic text editer. Not even something that stores things like Notes. I just need something that opens basic ascii text txt files, and will also let me write and save txt files. I know you're probably asking, well dang! You may as well just use Text Edit then. What's wrong with it? Trust me, I have reasons.

I make music and I run Mac os10 Sierra, for me upgrading to Mac OS cattilina is not an option because cattilina brakes some music production software I use. Until recently, I've been perfectly happy with the Mac's default mail app. In fact, maybe I'm just inept, but it was the most accessible mail client I'd ever had the pleasure of using, at least for my purposes, which are fairly simple.

I often run Windows on my Mac via VMWare Fusion, and when I do, I use JAWS. I have been using Seil and Karabiner to remap the caps lock key on my Mac laptop keyboard to an Insert key when I use Windows for several years. Sierra has broken Seil, and from what I can gather from Google, it sounds like it may not be fixed for quite a while. Does anyone know of another way to remap the caps lock key? I want to remap it to an Applications key and then use sharpKeys in Windows to make it function as a caps lock key in Windows so I can use JAWS effectively.

I hope you are well. I am trying to read Bookshare books offline. Book reader is good for shorter documents, but it jumps around. Books also only shows the names of chapters rather than the text itself of the chapter. I used to be able to use books in previous MacOS versions, and I am now regretting being up-to-date with Mac OS. Are there any alternative ways/apps to read Bookshare books offline, or is web reader my absolute only option now?
