I'm excited to share the news that Black Ink 2 is finally released today:

https://red-sweater.com/blackink/

This is the first version of Black Ink to support VoiceOver on the puzzle grid, and as far as I know, it's the only general-purpose Mac crossword-solving app to support VoiceOver.

So the other day could create automation that announces that my charger is plugged on my iPad. Is this possible on macOS? I know it is doable but I search the actions and there is nothing related to charger or battery except announcing battery level.
I could also create ones for changing volume level on my Mac and created keyboard commands to change them and the level is announced once I press the keyboard shortcut. I would appreciate it if someone can provide me instructions on how to do that?

Greetings all,
Has anyone encountered this on Sierra? I configured VoiceOver not to announce item order and that was fine on El Capitan. Now in Sierra VO announces the order of Dock items no matter what I do to stop this. This is only for the dock items and it's on my two macs.
Thanks

Hey everybody, We are thrilled to announce that ZoomText Mac now includes several speech features!

Users can enjoy Focus Echo, Mouse Echo and a great reading tool called WebReader.

Here’s a brief recap of each of these new features:

Hi all.

So as everybody knows, if you hit VO-F8, you get the time and date. But I just get "8:52 pm, March 6, 2025". Can I get the day as well? The only place I see to change clock display settings is in control center, and that has the day checked. But I don't know if that's where Voiceover is getting its time and date options from.

Hello!
I'm releasing AccessibleDice today!
For as long as I remember, I've been using GMA Dice to roll my dice on Windows. There is roll the bones for IOS but I never, ever found a good, keyboard powerful, audio based dice roller on Mac OS like GMA Dice is for Windows.
Well now that exists!
Introducing AccessibleDice.
It uses the same keyboard scheme as GMA Dice. For help, launch the program and press H.
This is being released completely free in the hope that it helps someone.

So each time I start my Mac I receive a message before the log in screen which says installer no window. I wait for five seconds then I am on the log in window. Sometimes the log in window is announced but no items are shown like the field where I can input my password. I need to click the touch pad to activate the edit field. Any idea how to solve this?
Thanks.

I've begun getting a repeating, and exceedingly annoying, message on some Websites on Safari. VoiceOver says something like, "Press alt+1 to use screen reader mode; stop this message with alt+0." But, I'm using a Mac, and of course have no "alt" key. I've tried option, command, control, various combinations, to no avail.
Anyone know how to stop this? It's making me crazy!
Thanks.
Howard

Hi. I'm new to the mac and I find that when ever i read my text documents with the mac voiceover always reads, new line enter every time it incounters a blank line. I've asked on the audiogames forum what can be done about this and someone said they could make a script for me, I think that would be helpful as I don't wantto mess with mac tormonal yet. I read alot of harry potter fan fiction, so it can be very annoying hearing enter newline when ever you read a storie. Is there a work around this, or do i have to just deal with it? thanks for your help.

Hi,

Since the release of OS X Lion, Voiceover has had a nagging bug that caused it to not read the text of PDF documents completely. For example, it might say the first letter of a word by itself, then say the rest of the word separately. This provided for a very inconvenient reading experience. Finally, after twenty-two months, Apple fixed this issue with the OS X 10.8.4 update. For Mountain Lion Voiceover users, I would say this is a worthy update, restoring an expectation of quality ignored for almost two years.

I recently "upgraded" to 15.4.

While composing email messages, VoiceOver VO+Right Arrow navigation is now skipping over entire paragraphs. Is anyone else seeing this?

I don't know how reproduceible this is, but I've got a mail message open right now that consistently reproduces the behavior. I selected all, copied, and pasted into TextEdit, but couldn't reproduce the problem there. Seems to be just the Mail app.

Hey,

So, continuing to procrastinate and muck about with Parallels. One thing that was bugging me was VoiceOver sticking its nose in when trying to do Windows commands such as Start Narrator. With my custom keyboard layout that perfectly replicates a Windows keyboard, hitting Windows Control Enter is grabbed by VoiceOver as 'select item'... Whatever that means. Some other issues did arise too.

Hello applevis community, I am planning on getting a laptop for Christmas since I am running out of space to do my work on my 5s and would like to start saving up for one. I am a high school student, only a freshmen, and I'mlooking for a laptop that I can take with me to school as well as use as my personal one for browsing the web and playing games. We do a lot of powerpoints and research papers at school, and I am completely blind. I am considering either the Macbook Air or the 13-inch pro. Which laptop do you think would work best for my needs? Thanks>

Hello!
I'm back with another scanner/ocr question. I registered for a trial 7 day time period for ABBYY fine reader. It worked but, for me, it is a really awkward interface. I'm not going to use it. So Prismo does not seem to have a trial period. And I was looking at ReadIris and was wondering if it is compatible with VoiceOver. If anybody has any information about that I would appreciate it. I guess there is also VueScan. any info on that would be appreciated as well.
Jim

Thanks,
Jim

Sorry about all the posts, I am just new to Mac and am having a few issues. Right now I am having an issue where I hear a bloop every few seconds, and I have no idea what it is. It started right after I opened the weather app. Restarting the computer is the only thing that seems to fix this, but what is the bloop? This is the second time this has happened, the first time it started after I installed an app.

I'm having a really annoying problem. I don't so much think this is really a Voiceover issue as much as it's me not having fast enough reflexes, but I wanted to see if anyone may know an easier way to deal with this.

I have been using my macbook air for a few days now, and have gotten, on occasions, a phone call to my iPhone. I have my mac set up also to make and receive calls using my iPhone over wifi. So, when a call comes in, my mac also pops up with Facetime letting me either reject or accept the call.

Hi all! I'm hoping someone can help me out with this minor issue I'm having.

Hi,
So although I don't own a Mac, I use a mac OS Catalina virtual machine. Long story short, I recently received a FaceTime call, and VoiceOver directed me to the Notification Center. But when i tried to use VO Left arrow or VO Right arrow, it wouldn't show any buttons. I even tried interacting using VO Shift Down arrow and nothing happened.
Am I doing something wrong? Is there a command to answer calls?
Any help would be appreciated.
Regards,
Tunmi
