I am a volunteer and my client who is blind is having trouble with voiceover on Word and in particular with some of the rotor navigation features. As this is his college work he tends to have Word documents that are over 10 pages long so this is causing him issues in writing longer documents.
I recently took the plunge and updated to Mac OS Catalina. While I am finding the experience pretty stable, I'm having a fairly annoying issue on sites such as GoodReads, and I'm hoping one of you guys could help me out.
I'll be browsing the page of a book on GoodReads, and when I want to go to the next review, I'll type in "rated it", so I can see what the next person has rated the book. Only, it'll stick in the text where it says "x rated it however many stars".
Hello applevis,
I noticed that when I open activity monitor and interact in the table of apps during this session, voiceover would randomly jump me onto the first app at the top of the table while my cursor previously at the 7th app or something. I am in Energy view. This happens in both Standard and Announce groups Grouping behaviour under Navigation settings, and the update frequency is set to normal 5 seconds. Am I the only one experiencing this?
I've noticed that in a pages document (tested only with document converted from word), VoiceOver in the vo-u rotor put under headings everything that seems to be in bold and/or have bigger font sizes, plus the actual heading style as defined in pages style formatter itself. The find next/previous headings only take into account the usual headings and they have their own separate issue as in larger document they are unpredictable. I'd have wished that apple provide better and clear documentation.
Does anybody know how to get voiceover to stop saying things like “black align right”? I’m not sure why it does this for me and any help would be greatly appreciated. I’m running high sierra on a MacBook Pro. Could it be a setting I have in verbosity?
Hi everyone I know this question has probably been asked before but I can't for the life of me remember the answer. I can't remember how to turn off the Voiceover help tags I loved them at first as I only got my Macbook last year on the day Mountain Lion was launched and now they are just annoying so if anyone can tell me how to do this I would be so pleased. Thank's in advance
Couldn't find this in other forum topics, but Apple's preview for Mac OS 12 says:
Improved Full Keyboard Access
Using an expanded set of keyboard shortcuts, improvements to Full Keyboard Access enable you to control everything on your Mac with a keyboard — without a mouse or trackpad. https://www.apple.com/macos/monterey-preview/features/
Any sense of what exactly this means or whether it's significant?
Since one of the last updates my Macbook with latest os does not switch on VoiceOver automatically on login screen. When I turn on to do so in System Preferences Users and login options, the setting is not permanent. It is set to offf after next login. In addition, on login VoiceOver hangs. I habe to deactivate and re-activate it by pressing CMD+F5 twice. VO hangs in some situations while using BlueTooth with my headphones. In this case I also press twice CMD+F5. Has anyone an idea how to repair this? Best regards , Guenther
Hello folks,
I use macbook for many years, not very often but sometimes I have to execute terminal to enter command lines. Especially since I use my Raspberry vivia ssh I am missing a convenient way to enter or edit command lines. The output of commands is very unconvenient to read.
Is there a way to configure terminal for optimal use with VO?
Since updating to the new MacOS, VoiceOver doesn't work well with Chrome, it often is not responding on things like Gmail. Also, it is reading messages multiple times when using VO+left/right on Discord.
Has anyone else experienced this? Any workarounds?
When one tries to view a series of tweets in conversation view within Night Owl (command+3), VoiceOver doesn't read the other tweets in the table out fully, but instead plays the "more available" beep. If one presses VO+r, however, one can read the tweet fully.
Does anyone know how to make this table behave like the other views in the app and make VoiceOver read the table fully?
Hello all:
After i migrated my data from my old mac mini to my new Macstudio,i'm having a very strange issue, VOice over can not speak at all, and i feel, just feel that this is related to my keyboard not VOice over itself, and will explain why.
After migration was completed, i can not use my keyboard to click on done at all, even voice over was not speaking, do not know why, but with sited assistance, i clicked on done using an actual mouse, and my mac restarts,
Hello to all. Recently, I've noticed that Voiceover has stopped speaking certain letters when I type them. Right now, it won't speak the letters e or o when I type them. If I type a capital e it speaks it. In addition, if I use VO+shift+left or right arrow to review text by character, it's still not saying those letters when the cursor lands on them. I tried re-installing Yocemity, but not a clean install. The problem went away for a while, but now it's back. I'm using a mid 2013 Macbook Air, with an I5 processor, and 8 GB of ram. Thanks a lot,
I have noticed some inconsistency in Mac - Voiceover. Aria-live should read the content when it changes, only once. But when the content is in the iframe voiceover reads aria-live content twice. This happens only in the Mac - Chrome - Voiceover combination. There is no issue in Safari. Below are the sample links. I want to know whether this is an issue are not.
Hey everyone. I've been having some serious issues with voiceover in my Mac regarding the use of microsoft word, and I was wondering if you could help me out or if anyone else is experiencing these issues.
What has been happening is, Whenever I'm going to write in a new document or read an old one, the usual text field does not appear, it just reads"""empty" whenever I press VO and the usual arrow keys to interact with the document to be able to read and eddit it.
For years I have used the VoiceOver feature “read text under mouse after delay” Recently the behavior of this feature became quite erratic for me. I have tried to detail my problems below. When I am using this feature my vision is such that I am able to see the page, but not able to read the text except with VoiceOver.
In the VoiceOver Utility >Verbosity>Announcements there is a check box “Speak text under mouse after delay”. I have the delay set to 0.
